skyz, thank you for the streaming links. TTC appears to have put the kibosh on WatchESPN but, thanks to you, I got to watch Fer come back from two sets down to win! So pleasantly surprised he could do that. He didn't look too taxed so hopefully he'll be good for the next match. And now I'm going to watch some Game, Set, Mats 'cause I love that show!
awwww, Jurgen and Iveta Melzer are playing mixed together. That's adorable.

I had no idea they got married. When i saw "Iveta Melzer" I searched it thinking he had a sister I was unaware of.
Nice win for Kuznetsova. Now, Fognini/Monfils? I can't imagine the circus that match must look like. Evidently, the crowd booed Fognini as he walked onto court and during the warmup.

Ha! I didn't hear that.
So happy for Sveta. She had never beaten Kvitova, so it was a big win for her. It was also an exciting, well-played match. I like Kvitova too, mostly because of her beautiful, flowing game. I thank the good lord, though, that she doesn't shriek on every swing because that blood-curdling howl she gives when she wins a big point is like Sharapova x Azarenka x Fay Wray squared! Sorry that Ivanovic had to face her kryptonite today. I was hoping she might win this again.
Am now watching the last set of Young-Garcia Lopez and hoping that DY can pull it out. I didn't know his parents had coached Townsend too. I love her game, and it sounds as though they had a lot to do with encouraging her to play that all-court style. It's such a breath of fresh air.

I can't believe Roger is losing to that misogynist ass. As any basketball fan can tell you, you can say whatever you want but shouldn't be surprised when people form opinions about you based on your "saying what you think." I was listening to Radio Roland Garros and it is heartening [/sarcasm] to see that Courtney Nguyen hasn't stopped her dislike of Fed. At least now that she's on a national stage she can't come right out and say it like she used to at Forty Deuce.
Only good thing about this going five is that I have a better chance of watching live tennis when NBC finally decides to come on the air at 1 pm.

Hi, everyone -- It's nice to see some of the gang back on board here at Tennis Heaven. A few comments: 1) Raonic DID look good, his game and especially his haircut. I think he looks best with short hair. Thank goodness he got rid of the headband. I like the Superman 'do. And he seems to be able to remain perfectly coiffed all the way through an entire match. Shades of Fed??

Damn I was hoping Tsonga would make it a good match. Oh well.
I didn't get to see much of Roger's match. Was he injured or just outplayed?

Outplayed. Gulbis' level was very high at the end, hewas serving really well, and Fed couldn't keep the ball away from Gulbis' backhand. BTW, I still can't get over how fugly Gulbis' forehand is.

Fed had set points to go up two sets to none and he shanked an overhead and he ended up getting broken and then losing the set in a tiebreak. That seemed to be the catalyst. Weirdly, the radio guys were wondering if that one point was going to come back to bite him and they figured it wouldn't but they were right the first time and it really was. Fed was chippy the entire match but I have to agree with him that going off the court for "treatment" is getting overdone. I hadn't realized that Tursunov had done it in the last round as well. Gulbis was down 2-5 and a double break in the fourth when he went off the court and came back firing so obviously not too injured. That made Fed that much more cranky. eta: It makes me strangely happy that Woz and Serena are buddies and that they are hanging out in Miami right now.. I'm going to guess that Serena can put things into perspective for Caro re: that jerk of an ex-fiance. Meanwhile, go Sara! Love that girl. Hope she wins this in two. In case anyone wants to watch the thoroughly enjoyable "Road To Roland Garros" videos with the players, there is a You Tube channel

I just don't understand how these girls who play against Maria just end up fading away after they win a set. Put them up against Serena and they seem to try as hard as they can to beat her. Of course Serena played badly against the girl who beat her, but she still kept her nerves. Oh well. Maria will win it all without playing a top 10 seed until the final, which I believe happened last time she won it. I want Sveta to win it all but that seems unlikely.
Bring on the grass.

If you stepped away from watching tennis this past year, today's SF matches would have been so confusing.

I feel like Halep just needs a little break here to give her a chance. She's playing some really good pressure points.

Darn, I was rooting for Halep. She just couldn't seem to take advantage of her opportunities today. I hope we see her in more slam finals this year.
I absolutely can not sit through another Djokovic/Nadal final, especially on clay. They take forever and I just end up get frustrated trying to watch. I think I'll record it and watch bits and pieces after its over.

I was rooting for Halep too. She plays like she belongs in the top five and carries herself like she knows it. I love that in a younger player. I think that's what I always liked about Azarenka when she was fighting her way up, although clearly that's where the similarity ends between those two players. Maria, as usual, did her job and didn't lose sight of her goal.
I watched the first two sets, and then started recording the 3rd set so I could go to the gym. I was going to watch it as soon as I got back, and I figured there was no way I could get spoiled that quickly, and then I walked by the elliptical machines just in time to see Maria fall to the ground after the last point in my peripheral vision on one of the little video screens. Damn you, exercise!

Really? Vomiting in super slo-mo? Interesting broadcast choice.
