What happened? I'd much rather hear your recap than actually see it, fala!
I haven't seen much tennis this year. Halep impressed me. I continue to really enjoy Maria S off-court, and the idea of her, but the shrieking remains ridiculous.
I see that Djokovic is just as needy and attention-whoring as always. He's like a black of hole of desperation for approval. I know I should feel bad for him. But I'm sometimes a cold bitch, and I don't.
Did anyone see Fabrice Santoro interviewing Halep after the semi? I was telling my BF about it, and reminiscing fondly about all the Fabrice fantasies we used to come up with here. He looked at me like I was losing my mind. Damn it, I don't want to know anybody who hasn't had a Fabrice Santoro fantasy involving luxury yachts anchored in blue Kool-Aid-colored Tahitian waters beneath jagged green mountains...

P.S. Is Nadal losing his hair in strange, Sampras-esque clumps?

Well, I suppose Rafa is indeed the King of Clay.
That was a nice tribute to Bjorn Borg, who still looks pretty good.
Hope to see some of you for Wimby.

What happened? I'd much rather hear your recap than actually see it, fala! Djoker was feeling sick, and at some point during the 3rd set (I believe) he threw up. He was pretty nonchalant about it, actually, and I didn't notice it when it was happening, because he did it while he was walking across the backcourt. Then they played it back in slow motion and fairly close up so there could be no mistake. It was quite a sight on an HD television.

Thanks, fala. That's so gross. I have a ginormous HD set; I'm glad I missed that!

Andy Murray has hired Amelie Mauresmo as his coach. I realize that it isn't Roland Garros related but this is the thread where everyone is. I think that is great news.
I didn't see the Djoker vomitting episode thankfully. I had the match on but was baking bread and doing other assorted household tasks the whole time so I only saw bits here and there.

Ok, while I'll always cheer for Nadal against Novak, I admit that I've started to like Novak too. Sigh. He's just SOOOO Sesame Street "Bert", especially when he widens his eyes in exasperation/concentration.
His puke was pretty much clear liquid. In slow-motion it kinda looked like the sneeze to end all sneezes.
I was surprised to see so few posts here. I wonder if a lot of people are in my boat - I PVR everything and don't want to be spoiled before watching...

I missed Djokovic's semi and a fair amount of today's final. I thought I heard McEnroe saying Djokovic had been sick during the semi. Anyone know what the story was? He did pretty well for a sick guy playing Rafa at Roland Garros. Also, the site that kept a lot of sane during the last Presidential election, fivethirtyfive.com, has really great sports analysis, including tennis!! Nadal Isn't What He Used to Be ... But He's Still Good Enough to Win the French

I don't think he did, though. He looked pretty damn ill, and played like it in the third and fourth sets. That fourth set was painful to watch--Novak too weak to do much of anything and Rafa in so much pain from his back that he could barely stand up straight and both getting exasperated because they couldn't get the energy up to put the match away. When Nole went for the Pepsi, I could just feel how queasy he was (although Coke [preferably flat] is better for those things than Pepsi).
I think he does that to move his contacts into their correct position.
When Novak teared up on the stand, so did I. Outside forces (Rafa's back) made this one of his best chances to win this tournament and outside forces (his own illness) kept him from doing it. So exasperating.

For once I wasn't being sarcastic, lt. I thought he did amazingly well considering he was actually sick. But what rotten timing for him. I didn't know that Rafa's back was an issue either. I'm very disappointed that none of the match reports I read mentioned either ailment.

Heh, probably the same writer who congratulated Mahut on winning his (losing) match earlier in the tournament--and other writers who didn't actually watch the match.
Did anyone see Ferrer's comments before and after his QF against Rafa? Pre-match he said that if he and Rafa were both playing well that Rafa would win because he's the better player and after the match he said he threw in the towel because: "I don't usually do this, but I thought, I'm not going to be able to come back into the match. I thought, No, no, not against Rafa. He's such good a player."
You know what, Ferru? If you feel that way and you see Rafa ahead of you in the draw, please lose to the guy before that match because maybe he'll be willing to put up a fight. Weirdly, I would have been somewhat okay (not really) with one or the other comment but to bookcase a match with those comments really chaps my hide.
