ETA US Open only slam I've been to but boy does it not seem like a banner year for tourney. Players are complaining about A/C, ill at alarming rate, transport & food are getting thumbs down, Donald Young had his shoes stolen from his locker and thn Bouchard falls bc of a wet floor in a dark locker room! Hi francienolan (and guru, and everyone else)! Yes it does seem like odd/bad things are happening at the USO this year. The weather is not that unusual for New York, though I have to say this much heat and humidity has been worse than usual. Awful that Bouchard fell on a wet floor and got that concussion, I hope she will be okay. Donald Young's comeback was great as was his spirit but having his shoes stolen? I do wonder if the roof being half closed is not such a good thing. I'm no engineer but I don't understand why it can't be retracted all the way when they don't need it? I wonder if, in spite of what the players say, the lack of a breeze is that good a thing on Ashe, it seems to me it would make the hot days that much hotter? Not to mention the very weird shadows...Still I'm no pro, but it seems to me that the Wimbledon roof is only noticeable when it's in use? Not sure why this one is different.

Another great afternoon of tennis today. Lisicki v Halep is good as is Wawrinka v Young.

Wow, Lisicki/Halep is just painful to watch. I wonder if the eventual winner will have anything left for the next round.
Okay, weird question -- is it just me, or is there something stealth-asshole about John Isner? I can't put my finger on it, but there's just something off when he talks. Like I expect his face to suddenly dissolve and turn into some terrible hellspawn visage.

I just heard an announcer on ESPN say that Fed/Isner is on before the Kvitova match? I think that's wrong, the USO site has Kvitova first, but since I like her as well as Fed I will turn on at 7 anyway. Just throwing that out to everyone though.
Nice to see Vika's comeback. I think she has the spirit to win this event someday.

Out of curiosity, what is it you don't like about Fognini, francie? I haven't seen much of him. He's not too hard on the eyes. Also, with apologies to breezy: Hugh Grant called and he wants his floppy 90s hair back, Lopez.
ETA Murray/Anderson is shaping up to be a real barn burner! Not really.

Okay, I was wrong. Despite a couple tight service games at the end of the 2nd set, Anderson is impressing me. Murray came out totally flat; the only thing he seems good at tonight is hurling profanity around the court. I wonder if Anderson can pull off the upset.

Aw, so happy for Kevin Anderson for finally coming through in a big match against a top player.
One of our compadres here is a big KA fan, I think. Is it LT? Wouldn't it be great if she was there tonight? I'm pretty sure she's attended the Open.
Also happy for Petra, although she looked gassed. And, going back a night, sad that Madison couldn't make a better match of it against Serena.
And going back several nights, whoo-hoo, for you, fala, going to the Open. How did that come about? I LIVE in the NYC area and haven't gone since I was a teenager (and parents paid for the ticket!)

Yes, Anderson really surprised me. Murray was so ill-tempered and out of sorts. I'm happy for Kvitova too. I think tennis.com predicted against her, which I found bizarre.
Feds really took it to Isner in the first set tiebreak. Wow.
And yeah, where's lt? I'll PM her.

Hell yeah, guru! That was a sweet win. Roger is sticking to his game plan very well. I hate to hope, but...

Okay, that's just revolting, francie. He's not fit to lick Serena's sneaker. What a retrograde asshole.

Wow, I feel really nervous for the Williams sisters tonight.

Geesh, Fabio really IS an ass. Sigh.
Okay, let the Williams' games begin!

The dumbest thing to me about Fabio's comment was that while both women are very pretty, if you put them side by side, Pennetta is the one with a flat chest and no hips, while Serena is a classic hourglass. Anyway, enough time spent on that peckerwood. Go Williams!
