The Vika-Cibulkova match was so entertaining I'm re-watching some of it (while I wait for the super storm to hit) with TTC's superior analysts.
Aren't you Venus lovers just plotzing with how great she's doing? Or does it feel too fragile after so many years of her weakening performances to feel great about her yet?

I'm thrilled for Venus. However it turns out, she's made a great showing. It's just wonderful to see her playing in finer form. Anything more would be gravy.

Agreed, Guru. And her hair looks fantastic!
Wow, Bouchard just got her ass handed to her by Sharapova.

Speaking of hair, poor Nadal. The top of his head looks like chupacabra fur.

I CANNOT DO IT. I just tried -- really tried -- to watch Sharapova-Bouchard, but the screaming ... I JUST CANNOT DO IT. I agree about poor Rafa's hair. I still adore him and think he's incredibly adorable (that smile!), but the insane hotness factor left with the onset of the scruffy head. Speaking of the smile, did you guys see this: www.ausopen.com/en_AU/video/index.html?id=ydpgnecqf_lxhhsbmlt6a0fg5ms1gwwe

Anyone around watching Madison-Venus?

I forgot it was on; I just tuned in, harry. I'm wondering if Venus has the energy to win a three-setter; if she doesn't, it's a very exciting win for Keys.
I want Venus's hair!

Way to go, Madison. What a weird match, though. Winner. Error. Error. Error. Winner. I hope Madison's leg allows her to play well in the semi.
Sorry for Venus. She really did look like she was in about 2nd gear. The early hour? Her advanced age? Schogrun's? Who knows. She just wasn't sharp. Hopefully this great result will lead to even better results this year.
But, yes, her hair is fabulous. Still think the dress is a terribly dowdy cut.

I just watched and really enjoyed the match. Venus looks great - for some reason she looks more youthful to me these days (and I loved her rather mod type outfit) and I did feel for her but as the match went on I started pulling for Madison to make her breakthrough. That shot she made to get to match point was so amazing that I felt she had to win the next one and it happened. If she plays Serena I hope it's a dramatic one!
I know I haven't posted lately, I was really disappointed that Roger lost after he'd been playing so well coming into the tournament but since the final weekend is here will see what happens. Keys is certainly creating interest.
Oh but I agree on everyone hating some of the neon outfits. I can't see Keys' outfit from Nike without thinking of the "New Crayola" colors. Still, it's great watching her play and she seems really likeable.
ETA: tiki and Harry, I really like Venus' hair too, maybe that was one reason she looks more youthful lately to me.

Actually, I think Madison is one of the few whose skin tone goes beautifully with the neon shades.
So pleased for Stan (or "Stanley" as Roger used to call him). I like Nishikori too, but I just adore Stan's big, clean, exciting game. Plus, he seems like a lovely guy. It was nice to hear that he and Kei are good friends.
I was just thinking about the fact that Serena's strokes are so much better technically than Venus's, and I wondered if their parents' understanding of stroke mechanics was much better by the time they were teaching Serena.

Sorry tiki, had the second one on but just saw this. I'm sorry Madison didn't win, but at least she was fighting to the end. I'm not really surprised, though, Serena definitely had her game face on. Still I thought Madison had a chance when she started with such a bang.
It's too bad they put both finals on at night in Melbourne. I'm sure I have said this before, but I miss the old days when they played on grass and the final matches started at 9 or 10 pm Eastern time in the US.

Well, I'm sad Madison's run is over. She made way too many errors, and Serena's defense and steadiness was the difference.
I'm not high on three of the four men's semifinalists, so ... GO STAN!!! (Tomorrow - why do they split the men's semis again?)

The women's final is going to be really fucking LOUD.
The men's final? I guess I have to root for Murray. Meh.

Well of course, who couldn't call that? Gee maybe if you stopped fucking shrieking you might beat Serena once in the next 10ys. She's not exactly a quiet little mouse herself, but hey she is just better than you, in every way. Good luck, you'll need it.
And I am all about Djok in this final. Two guys I don't love, but have to respect the game, and Djok just has the beautiful game to me. Loved his play always. Andy gets only grudging acknowledgement.
