Ahhhhhh, roseha, harry, and fala, sweet! I miss the days when we were all so into tennis, but my job has really cut into it in the last 4 years (if I have to choose, I always go with baseball). But you guys are all so great; I'm looking forward to the next 2 weeks.

Does Ashe feel smaller to anyone else when you're watching on TV? I'm wondering if the new lighting configuration is making it seem that way, or if I'm just imagining things.

Maybe it's the effect of the partially finished roof fala? Roger mentioned after his match that it's already reducing the amount of wind on court, which he thought would "benefit the top guys." Wind being an equalizer, I guess. Did anyone else see his twin girls after the win in Cincinnati, by the way? They really are growing fast. "Papa, papa." Back to tonight, did anyone else think Murray looked sluggish? Maybe it's the heat and humidity, here in New York it's really been awful all summer and it hasn't let up yet. Kvitova coming up. I hope she does well.

I did and yes they are. Hilarious when one of them said "Papa, you need a hat" and promptly plunked it on his head. Kvitova looked on form last night (although her competition pretty much beat herself) but wow did she look thin. I didn't know she had been sick but that would explain it. So many of the women's seeds out. I would like to see Serena take the calendar slam but I hope she has some competition doing it. This has got to be one of the ugliest outfits I've ever seen on court.. Does H&M pay him a fortune to wear this crap or something?

Hi, breezy! Yes, Kvitova looks very thin. I'm hoping she does well. As for Berdych's outfit, let's just say you can probably see the socks from space.

So it looks like most of the players have apparently turned down ESPN's attempt to interview them mid-match? I'm so glad, that's really an affront, it's not the same thing as interviewing an NBA coach at halftime. I'm a little tired of watching the parade of tweets under the WatchESPN coverage (a lot of them are snarky or just stupid), but I agree with Roger that ESPN should have gone through the ATP (and WTA) and not just asked individual players randomly. That Berdych outfit does look awful! Not sure what the trend is towards dayglo colors lately.

Very true, and particularly ridiculous on someone with his clean-cut Aryan looks. But I think I hate Rafa's green jammies even more. And I'm not that enthusiastic about Roger's daytime kit. Hopefully the night one will be better. I really liked the raspberry/slate gray combination he was rocking in Cincy.

You know, in the past, something like this:
would have inevitably brought chesty swooping out of the cloud to defend him. The good old days...

Yes, remember Jerome the Novak fan? I guess he's moved onto other forums...
I know Venus struggled a lot trying to close it out tonight, but I still really enjoy watching her style, with her volleying. There's a certain elegance to her game.
Five Wimbledon titles is not exactly chopped liver, but somehow people don't seem to mention it much these days, unless I missed it?
It sounds like her next match with the young Swiss player will be promising.

Aw, I remember chesty. However, I don't remember Jerome for the life of me!
And you think chesty would even have felt it incumbent on her to defend Rafa's clothes?
And this may be an awful thing to say of children, but Roger's daughters seem to have a severe case of RBF. Beautiful hair, though. Not surprising given the wonderful hair DNA in that family.

As I recall, chesty defended Nadal from absolutely everything, and extended that mama-bear ferocity to most of the other Spaniards. I noted Verdasco's wonk eyes once (he is a serious buttahface, is he not?) and she just about swooned. I'm not making fun of her; she was a very nice person. It was great to have so many different personalities here.
I don't remember the name Jerome, but there was definitely a guy with a J-name who was seriously in love with Djokovic. We all gave him tons of (almost all good-natured) shit, as I recall, and he was really cool about it.
What, tennis? Nothing very exciting so far today. I'm afraid I'll still be at work during most of Feds' match, and Wozniacki continues to cause me terrible narcolepsy. Maybe tomorrow will be more fun.
ETA: found him -- it was Jer2002. I still hate Djokovic, but I have to give Jer serious points for sticking it out in the face of sometimes malicious humor at Djok's expense.

Wait, who the fuck is Adrian Mannarino? Anyone following his match with Murray? Hell, I'm heading home to check this out!

Wait, who the fuck is Adrian Mannarino? Anyone following his match with Murray? Hell, I'm heading home to check this out! Yes, Murray looks pretty awful, if I'm remembering correctly he lost the last two games of set 2 looking almost like he was in a daze or something. I don't think he's sick or injured but I wonder how well he functions in heat and humidity like this, it hasn't let up here in New York all week. (I have one of those lame air conditioners with a hose connection since I have casement windows, and I've finally just turned if off since all it does is blow hot air around.) I also wonder, though obviously I'm not there, if Ashe stadium, with the new partial roof and less wind is "keeping the heat in" as someone in baseball once said. Yes, you're right tiki, that was Jer2002 the Novak fan, I remember now. Odd he dropped out of the group when Djokovic started to improve, but then we seem to have lost a lot of posters as you say. Sadly.

Huh. I guess I don't have to wonder about who the fuck Adrian Mannarino is. Props to Murray, assuming he stays ahead, though he's not one of my favorites. Too passive. If I was bitchy, I'd add that his face gives me nightmares. Oh wait, I just did. (Didn't want anyone here to think I was going soft.)

What!?! I think you may have forgotten about the other poster who loves all of the Spanish players (Nadal excluded - I'm just neutral on him). I'll forgive you for this transgression. Good thing the comment was not about the wee Ferru! Great article from Mardy Fish The Weight. I was never a huge Fish fan but I never disliked him either. He always looked like he should be out mowing the lawn with a beer in his hand rather than playing tennis but I really admire the way he has been so open about his anxiety. A lot of people, male athletes in particular, would shy away from talking about it due to the fear it might make them look weak. I hate matches like yesterday's between Cetkovska and Woz. All the breaks and the choking. I just find it so frustrating to watch. I went to bed at the beginning of the third set because I just didn't care who won anymore.
