I'm late to weigh in, but I was so disappointed that Roger didn't have a better showing in the final. Not that he was bad, but just that he wasn't as superhuman as he was in the semi. Plus I still can't get past the annoyance Djokovic brings up in m. I've never warmed up to him either. And I'm pretty sure he's pulled that shirt-ripping thing before, hasn't he?
Okay. I'm going to refrain from bashing. The guy's good. Crazy good. 'Nuff said.
Now, I'll go back to gritting my teeth.
And congrats to Serena and Garbine. That was an entertaining women's final

I feel the same way. I appreciate his tennis but I just can't warm up to him and yes, he has ripped his shirt before Australian Open 2012I too wish Roger had played better. He was so impressive against Murray in the semis I was expecting a spectacular final.

I'm guessing this post might not be viewed by anyone until the U.S. Open, but still...
I would pay Djokovic a lot of money to keep his shirt on. Yuck.
I'm watching the women's Rogers Cup final (Halep vs. Bencic) and am happy to report on the return of Drunk Pam. At the beginning of the match, she advised the audience to sit back, put their feet up, and enjoy "your usual middle-of-the-day Sunday drink." Hi, Drunk Pam!

I usually don't respond well to assholery, but the fact that Kyrgios keeps losing his mind and showing his ass on-court is intriguing me right now. If history is any indication, I'll be completely over him soon, but right now, the combination of him and Donald Trump is giving me the giggles. That said, he seems to be a complete dick. Is this a new development, or is it just that people are just noticing now?

"the combination of him and Donald Trump is giving me the giggles."
Seriously -- though I'm not sure how much longer I want to be amused by either one of them. I didn't know that much of Kyrgios before, just that he seemed to get a lot of people excited. But now he's officially moved from "youthful antics" to "vile prick." What bothered me most was that his idea of humiliating Wawrinka was to slut-shame his girlfriend. That is so disgusting, whether it was meant to be overheard or not. Also, I think there's something physically or emotionally wrong with Kyrgios. He's in constant, agitated, nervous motion -- kinda like his mouth. His family seem like assholes too. I could feel bad for the guy, but...then I wouldn't be me.

I haven't followed Kyrgios much, but the first person I heard discuss this incident was Darren Cahill, and DC indicated this sort of behavior has been an issue for quite some time. It sure is ugly.

I will tiki; I rely on the Tivo somewhat and it's been wonky, only recording VCR style without program information at the moment, but as long as I check the channels I'll know where to look.
I guess, just looking at the scores not much excitement yet though Kei seems to be in a struggle?

Awesome, roseha! I have to work all day, but I'll catch as much of the evenings as possible. I'm surprised Nishikori lost, happy Venus won, and no Ivanovic loss ever surprises me. Bouchard is up a set (and upping her "arrogant and clueless" game as well).

Me too, me too!!! I'll be watching some during the days and some during the evenings on DVR and live. I'm happy that ESPN3 is available on usopen.org. I was getting ready to be REALLY PISSED OFF at ESPN that so much of their coverage will be on ESPN3 (leaving TTC out in the cold) when I've never been able to get ESPN3. But I'm relatively pleased to be able to watch it on my computer.
Just watched Madison play quite well to dispatch her first round opponent, Kokolova. Kokolova was sporting a very unattractive black and white dress that is really unflattering. I saw it on another player earlier today, but I forget who it was. She was sporting knee socks (but it wasn't BMS). But the dress is black and features what looks to be a big, white dinner napkin tied haphazardly around the middle.
Back to tennis, sorry to see Sloane lose and so passively. I saw Vandeweghe play Team Tennis this summer, and she's very, very imposing physically, but does not exactly radiate charm. Hopefully there's a more appealing person in there despite the churlish exterior, because I enjoy her big, athletic game. Still, sad to see Sloane go home so soon.
I've never been a Serena fan, so I can't get excited about the prospect of a real slam, although Lord knows she deserves it. However, given her magnificent career it is nice to see her get so much well-deserved attention as befits one of the greatest athletes in the world and possibly the greatest woman athlete.
I hadn't heard until last week that Kvitova had contracted mono this year. She and Madison are my favorite current players, so I was very disappointed at her early exit at Wimbledon, but hope it will help that she now knows what the problem was. It doesn't sound as though it has been a bout nearly as serious as those that ended Soderling and Ancic's careers.

Kvitova had mono? Hope she's gotten over it sorry to hear. I'm not one to believe in the "Cover of Sports Illustrated Jinx" but, boy, can they find any more ways to put pressure on Serena? If she wins, and I expect she will, great for her, but really I think the pressure on her is getting overdone. Djokovic's side of the draw seems to be having a lot of upsets already... I want to see this young player Nadal is playing tonight that JMac thinks is so good. Jo apparently is playing well though.

Colette went with some different frames this year. No more funky red glasses. I miss them.

What match was she working, fala? She was working Serena's match. She and Serena actually had a short conversation after Diatchenko retired and was waiting for the on-court interview.

Ah, no wonder I missed her. I was avoiding the Josh Grobin extravaganza like the plague and torturing myself watching the Yankees lose to the Red Sox, and by the time I turned back Serena was all done. I look forward to seeing her new specs.
