Oh my goodness--losing to Blake? I only got to see the tiebreak (good quality on the live stream, lousy sound) but Federer did not look so good. And he was sweating up a storm. I don't know the last time I saw that. So sad.

The sweating....yeah, it's unusual to see Feds like that. But he is human, and they've all been sweating like that. Rafa had to change shirts like 3 times in a match this week. And at times it looked like he had just climbed out of a pool. It's ridiculously hot and humid there.

This is really not Roger's year. Maybe he can recover and possibly win the Dbls with Stanislav but yeah. I kind of figured that Blake could beat Roger if Roger did not play very well......at least that is what Johnny Mac has always said every single time they have played.

Wow, holy shit and . . . wow. I didn't see the first set, but it looked like James was just playing well. Obviously Roger hasn't been playing his A+ game all year, but I didn't get the sense that he was having major difficulties. Can anyone who saw the whole match give a quick impression? I couldn't believe the score when I turned it on.

I totally didn't even know who was up next for Roger, but had a weird flash in my dream of a newspaper article headlined "Lights Out" referencing Roger losing. So I took my time coming to the computer to check it out. Sigh. But maybe it just shows that Roger is indeed struggling universally this year - because a Blake loss is kind of different than the others for me. He's not a newbie and Roger knows his game. And he's not Nadal and/or Djokovic. I don't know. I'm just so freaking sad for him - because how does one have the best dominating streak ever and still not attain the things he most wants to achieve?

Ugh on Johnny Mac. Going around saying Pete can sleep better knowing his 14 GS titles are safe. I mean, really!

From the As It Happens blog Federer was very dignified - as ever - as he left the court, acknowledging the crowd with a sincere wave, but he has a serious problem with his form. He's playing all right, but the ability to win the points that matter has gone for the moment. Maybe he needs a coach? But credit to Blake, who really earned this win. Mustn't forget other courts, and Dementieva has taken the second set against Serena Williams - three-set matches are not what the referee's office wants, and it looks as if the Bammer-Zvonareva match on Court 2 is also going the distance. Ugh. Well, I'm late climbing aboard, but I think I just caught up with the Nadal train. I'll always want Roger to win, and the comeback will be twice as sweet if/when he gets his form back. But Djokovic creeps me out so Rafa it is.

I just checked the score and rushed here thinking the Beijing site was all jacked. (It is sometimes.) But apparently, it's not and Blake beat Federer. I can't even believe that as I type it. I had thought he was looking much better, especially in the Tursunov match.
I'm just shocked, although not unhappy. I've been wanting some shakeup at the top for a while.
Still, Blake? *shudder*

Serena is getting her ass handed to her by Elena in the 3rd set.

falafaclese, are you watching that on the OXYGEN channel? I know it's your favorite. Well, it comes in second to the Lifetime Movie Network.
Have they rescheduled matches yet? Rafa is up after Venus on Center, right? The soonest I see that being able to start would be 11pm Beijing time.

Ah...Elena. Hopefully she won't choke. USA sucks - instead playing a live match, they are playing you guessed it the already over match between Federer and Blake - which I am not bothering to watch since I already who won or rather who lost.

falafaclese, are you watching that on the OXYGEN channel? I know it's your favorite. Alright smartass, I'll admit that you just made me laugh. Actually, I'm watching the NBCOlympics.com internet feed. Serena looked like maybe she might pull off a Safina, but it didn't happen. Oh well, after yesterday's match, I wasn't 100% confident about her dominance today, and Elena's been playing pretty well lately, so I'm not completely stunned.

I like Venus over Serena, but I still like Serena. Perhaps it's the fact that she actually has breasts. I feel more secure in my own knowing she can be an elite athlete and NOT be a boobless wonder I'm not crying that she lost though. I'd be upset if Vee lost though. (Yeah, I'm miffy that one of those Chinese gymnasts is 4'6" and 68lbs.)

Does anyone have any links to live action other than the NBC streaming? For some reason it is not working for me. Thanks in advance--
And why the hell did they have the matches start so late? I thought they were in a stadium without lights. How late can they play?
I'm not that shocked about Blake winning. Fed has lost to all his other pigeons this year, so I figured Blake had a shot. Fed needs a coach. His days of dominance are over but he is still able to string together weeks of brilliance in the slams, though he needs someone helping him. His mentality is not where it needs to be. He just doesn't win the important points anymore.
I like both Lena and Serena. Lena is always dangerous when she is playing for her country. Serena...well, I don't care what anyone says, she is still not as fit as she needs to be. She is slow out there. In her current state, she will always be at a disadvantage to players who both hit hard and run fast (like her sister and Dementieva).
