grandslam thanks for the heads up about the Lendl article. He was my dad's fave so I know he'll like to read it.
The live feed just started acting up, it's my computer though..
I'm so baffled as to how this programming sched NBC cooked up is good for ratings...

*Sob* Oh well, at least Gonzo beat Soderling up.
And my avatar is back to Fed.
People on the east coast--please post as to what NBC is doing once the next semi starts.

tikigirl: you see that red mark on Gonzo's left cheek? Well, it wasn't a fall. More like a reverse doggy-drag ass wipe along the side line.
Annnnd Sod takes it. Yeesh that was an up-and-down match. Good for Sod, he reallly played well. I hope Fed wipes the floor with him!

LT They've ff to the third set of Sod/Gonzo so maybe they'll slice n' dice the remainder to twenty minutes and start Fed/JMdP live? Who knows..

Thanks, lizm. How insane.
Because it can't be said enough, fuck NBC. There could be a whole thread devoted just to that. In the meantime I'm following lt's lead and watching on atdhe.net. Is that the place with tons of porn pop-ups? Firefox is pretty good at blocking pop-ups so I don't really care.

Wow, Soderling won it. I don't know what to think right now. Assuming Fed wins his semi, it's something to worry about, but on the positive side, Soderling was 3-4 in matches against Gonzo, and 3-2 against Davy (plus he won both of their matches on clay), so those wins weren't complete surprises. The win against Nadal was, of course, although I'm not sure what effect this knee situation had on that match, and Sod has taken Nadal to five sets (of course that was on grass), and he's never even taken a set off Fed in nine tries. I'm nervous, but still hopeful for Fed. With LT's permission (I don't want to screw up the vibes), I think I may have to change my avatar to help Fed along, because this has to happen (sorry admin). ETA: Falafaclese, who is the player in your (hilarious) avatar? I'm not sure. I thought it might be Younes el Aynouai, but I haven't been able to find out

Please do falafaclese. All the positive power is a good thing. (Sorry, admin, I know you are regretting starting all this avatar stuff. Hee.)
Francie, thanks for the NBC info. If you don't mind, could you keep an eye out? I would leave for the gym at about 11:45 am if it is live. Thanks,

Go, Roger!
And because only you guys would appreciate this -- I was writing an email to someone with whom I hope to work in the future, and accidentally hit "paste" instead of "copy." What popped up? That quote about Gonzo dragging his ass across the clay. It's a good thing I noticed!

NBC seemed to start in the middle of Sod/Gonzo here. I wanted Gonzo too, but granting that Roger gets past JMDP, I think he will still have the great record against Sod to help him, plus I think Roger will have all the crowd support. It may well be a long one though. I'm thinking it may go the distance but if Roger wins that's okay.
I'm keeping my current Roger avatar since I like the flying hair.

I love the flying hair.
First break to JMdP. Didn't see that coming seeing how much difficulty he was having on his own serve.

You mean on purpose? I've got the match recorded. Let me know when it happened so I can make sure to look for it.
If Soderling wins this thing on Sunday you'll hear me wailing across the countryside.

Where is Federer's head? Is he really going to let the lovechild of Gumby and Lurch take the first set?

Asswipe - full story: Happened in the final set. Gonzo disagreed with a call on the side line, thinking the ball was out on his side. The ump came down to take a look but didn't agree. After the ump went back to his chair, Gonzo sat on the mark/line and rubbed it out by dragging his butt back and forth over it. I laughed It was less charming on the next point where he sarcastically applauded the linesman for making an obvious call.
