I believe he had the exact same foot fault problem in Cincy, and there he had an ugly flaming meltdown because of the calls. It seems dumb to continue to have these confrontations when all you need to do is line up a couple inches behind the baseline. I know sometimes the smallest adjustment can become a distraction and mess with your head, but it seems like these conflicts are more of a distraction for him. Plus the tantrums are pretty unsightly. I'm kind of over it.
ETA: I just saw the report about Safin, and they referred to a point where he stepped over the center line. Was this the only one? Because I can kinda understand his dismay even though the official ended up being right. Plus, the bastard still won me over a little bit with his funny comments during the post-match press conference.

I guess it depends on when you count the service motion starting, because he was over the center line before, but then when he started he wasn't (I think). His comments after cracked me up when he was all "I just want to play tennis and have fun! I don't want to cause trouble and argue and shout." He cracks me up

I think it's something about the aloof eyes but I adore Marat's meltdowns - tantrums and all. And everyone else's I can't tolerate! I don't know.
I'm not one for the pickings in the fantasy tourneys, but I have him going to the Semi's I think.

I think that Roger's outfit looks a little like the one I had when I was in the Brownies. But at least he's playing well.
Who has been there this week? How cool are the nights? I'm packing and it's always a struggle what to bring.

Heh Ilsa, that is one yucky outfit they gave Roger. Why have a guy with lovely brown hair wear a traffic cop type blah brown suit?
Fed seems to be striking the ball quite well, only saw one volley (just tuned in) but it was lovely.
Sorry to miss Marat, silly me, I thought he'd win in a snooze. Marat??

Awww, they played "Still the One" in the stadium after Federer won. I like his day outfit better with the red shirt. The all "smoke" one is blech.

Yes, I only saw the end (just came home) but everyone seemed to be so nice to Roger. I loved him saying he would keep playing many more years and that there were many other champions last night who inspired him (in answer to the comment on his getting the biggest applause).

Oh you guys! I really liked the Federer outfit, i thought it looked classy. I liked it too. It was sort of a lot of neutral, but I think the orange accents made it work. The whole thing looked very smooth and understated to me.

I liked his bit about being distracted because a fan kept yelling "Vince" every five minutes. And, as silly as that meltdown must have been (walking off the court? Really?) I LOVED Courier calling out JMac for being WRONG! Ha! JMac has been on my s***list ever since the "Sampras sleeping better" crap. Having super-gracious Roger be so happy with his win sure kept that JMac quiet on that front after the Federer match. Speaking of post-match--I could not love more how Roger always waits to see who catches his tennis balls when he hits them into the stands. It really does speak to the Roger-love that the upper decks don't boo him for not hitting it up to them.
I'm going to have to go with not liking the outfit. "Smoke?" What color is smoke where those people live? They better see an environmentalist about that. Maybe if the shirt or shorts were more the accent color so it wasn't such a uniform-looking outfit.
Speaking of clothes: last year Nike won the free shirt to the players with that blue thing. This year Adidas has won with their bumblebee-yellow shirt. EVERYONE is wearing it. Very bright.
(ilsabing, I just sent you a message.)

Count me as liking Roger's outfit. It's so much better than that hideous black outfit he wore last year. The black just made me want to scream 'Sports are NOT supposed to be Goth!" The taupe (and I'm calling it taupe) outfit strikes the right balance between being different, classy and still sports appropriate.
I found Marat charming as well. Even though he was wrong on the rule. Has anyone seen his Sad Sack routine in Tennis Channel Bag Check? He pulls out his phone and says something like "This is my phone. I don't call anyone. No one calls me." with this totally mopey expression. Then he grins just a smidge with the corner of his mouth. He can call me. Anytime.
ETA: Also on the clothing front, apparently Nadal was supposed to get a makeover. Shirts with sleeves and shorts that end well above the knee. At the last minute, he decided not to change. He said something about not having enough chance to practice in the new dudes. Most writers thought "Don't change things when you're on a hot streak."

I heard that news about Nadal switching outfits and was excited to see it, but also wondered about the timing. "If it ain't broke...", etc.
I loved Roger's outfit - he looked like a tall cappuccino. I also think it's more understated, and I'm loving that.
Also, because I'm somewhat out of it, is it true about the IOC guy being most moved by Roger's gold? That's sweet.
I think #2 is a good thing - I wish I hadn't been so afraid of it coming.

Yes, it's true. I spent waaaaay too much time watching the Olympics and I saw Jacques Rogge say it in interviews a couple of times. He said that Roger has everything and he didn't get the gold he wanted, but the image of him so excited to win and in tears on the medal stand really moved him and showed how much the Olympics mean. Speaking of the Olympics, I don't like how Ted Robinson is all shocked that the players are jetlagged. He's all "isn't this their job?". Well yeah, but normally, they'd be in New Haven or something right before the US Open so they can work through the jetlag at a warmup versus at a Slam. Then again, I hate Ted Robinson. I didn't used to, but now I'd like to invite him to STFU.

Did something just happen to Tipsarevic/Warburg? I looked up at my scoreboard online and their match appears to be gone.
