Thank goodness I didn't listen to JMac call the Rafa match. I only got to watch the first set before running errands. Ugh. I haven't seen the 'Pova dress either.
I want Spanish Davis Cup team panties.

I'm not a fan of big umbrellas--I don't like knocking people over when I walk and I'm not tall enough to lift them high enough--but I'm coveting that Roland Garros umbrella. I'll have to look to see if they have it in a smaller size.

French of my balls. Rain.
You know, has there been much discussion about Cilic in the group of contenders? And how long did Soderling's match take - 10 minutes?

Why did they just show Roger walking onto the court in slow motion? These camera guys are funny.
I checked the Roland Garros site and they have two small umbrellas--for $47 each! But they're so cute. . . and if you order anything from the site during the tournament it only costs $15 to ship to the US. . . There is also a mini-duffel that I'm coveting.
eta: Hee to the look on Falla's face when the director was talking to Roger and (it looked like) asking him his opinion of the conditions. No one came over to Falla.

All this "balls" talk disturbs me, if only because I'm up very early for me. Otherwise I'm as potty-mouthed as anyone. Gimeldouche before noon is like a soul-killer.
Allez up your fucking raining ass.

Ha, tiki! I'm trying the phrase on in every arena as an attempt to elicit an alter ego. (It's fitting nicely into my mid-life crisis!) Not working, huh??

Tomorrow I won't be anywhere near tv/internet access from 10am-7pm, today was supposed to be my FO day. Instead I get to troll the internet for tennis and be thoroughly disgusted by Querrey's presser.

Right? He's like the anti-Isner. But, I will say this for him. He was darn honest in that press conference. I think he's struggling to figure out if tennis is even for him as a profession which, once again, makes him the anti-Isner who went to college and didn't even begin to think about being a pro tennis player until he was a sophomore in college. Too bad Querrey had such early success that he changed his mind about going to college. He seems like someone who would have gotten a lot out of the college experience. Forty Deuce linked to an article about Agassi's opinion re: Rafa at the French. But what cracked me up was this: Obviously Agassi only agreed to be interviewed if Longines and their donations were noted but FOX is just so lousy at their job that the writer and editor couldn't figure out how to write it organically into the story and we end up with that. The copy-writers amongst you must be laughing.

I know some people have criticized Querrey, but I kind of feel bad for him. It'd be one thing if he complained on a regular basis or made excuses for his losses just as a matter of course, but it seems like he had a real internal crisis. Whether it leads to him realizing that this life is not for him, or he decides that it was a momentary lapse and he rededicates himself, I have a hard time criticizing him.

Querrey's guido land (or ville can't remember) tweet regarding being glad to exit Miami put him on my watch list. I can appreciate honesty and ordinarily have sympathy for the unique pressures young stars face, but don't care a lot about his angst. Great minds think alike LT b/c I posted elsewhere that college might have done Querrey a world of good from an emotional standpoint.

I stopped going to his Twitter because his tweets were so not what I imagined he was like--and that makes him the anti-Roddick! The guy I do like on Twitter but don't like on the court. I figured I could enjoy Sam on the court if I didn't know too much about him in real life and I could enjoy Andy more on the court if I superimposed his off-court personality over his on-court one.
And whenever I think Verdasco might be a bit too volatile I think back to that behind-the-scenes video of him doing some kind of charity photo shoot with children who had Down's Syndrome. Roger gets too cocky? He changes diapers and talks about watching all the other players play. Rafa gets too intense? He says things like "the sun is happiness." Gonzo goes too gonzo? He carefully lifts bugs off the court instead of squishing them. Soderling becomes the Evil Sod? He says "thank you" whenever a ball kid hands him a towel. It's making excuses but I tend to do it with all of them.

Seriously, he fucking said that? Just unacceptable.
Hopefully you will get to enjoy some tennis today, francie. I'm irritated too because I had to be up ridiculously early by freelance standards, and there's been no tennis for hours!
P.S. oops, you're too young for a midlife crisis.

Double-posting to say that I hope Rezai loses because I never want to see that hideous Star-Trek-meets-Joan-Collins disaster of a dress again. And I say that as a big fan of Joan Collins.
