Wow. That match between Monfils and Kendrick was exciting. Never noticed before just how pretty Kendrick is.
I love these first round nail biters.
ETA -Can they just shut up now about whether Monfils touched the ball with his racquet before it hit the ground? They've (P Mac and Pam) already admitted that can't tell themselves and Monfils says he doesn't know if he did or didn't. Showing us the footage over and over does absolutely nothing expect get on our nerves.

I had a feeling Kendrick would be a tough 1st round match-up for Monfils. I'm glad he won. It's too bad about Dinara. I was expecting 3 sets from that one.

There was a ball that Kendrick returned and it was just out. Monfils put his racquet down to hit it at the same time it hit the ground. Kendrick was sure Monfils hit it before it hit the ground. I saw the replay in slow motion about a billion times and I couldn't tell. Monfils said he didn't know whether he did or not so he went with the umpire. PMac wouldn't shut up about it and even though he said he couldn't tell what happened he went on and on about players who aren't honest in matches and how they should own up to errors that the umpire didn't see.

Hmm. Well, if he's saying he hit it but he didn't know whether it was before or after the bounce, I get that. If you take your eye off the ball for a split second at that moment it cn be hard to tell. If it's a question of whether he hit the ball or not, it seems like Monfils should know.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. He knows he hit the ball but the racquet and ball hit the ground at what appeared to be the same time. He doesn't know if his racquet or the ground made contact first with the ball. No matter how much the replay was slowed down, it was impossible to tell and PMac can just bite me on the matter.
On a pleasant note, Taylor Dent has finally found some clothes that fit.

Yeah Fala, I'm cranky. I'm home sick and even though that means I get to lay and the couch and watch tennis I hate being sick. Also, I hate being sick and having to listen to stupid commentators. At least it's raining out and I don't have to miss my tennis match tonight..

Venus' night outfit is ugly. I can only assume her Tide contest dress will be better, hopefully. Unless this is the Tide dress. And why isn't she wearing black shoes to match? I hate all black outfits ruined by white shoes.

Fernando Gonzalez retired from him match today. I think it was his knee again. I don't how bad it is. I did notice though that he has very short hair which I've never seen before.
ETA - What on earth is Pam Shriver wearing? It looks like someone stapled a whole bunch of lumpy bean bags all around her hips. On the other hand, I like the spangles on Venus's dress.

I didn't hate the dress, but I'm not sure how I feel about the material, and I agree about the white socks.
I'm kind of curious to see Sharapova's, because it looks like she'll be wearing another Star Trek Federation uniform this year.
I saw Dabul playing at the Legg Mason qualies. I didn't realize he was that short.
