Live tennis! On my tv! It is awesome. And now that I'm recording and just occasionally checking the score online I'm all back to my laissez-faire self, whoever wins, cool. It's only when I'm actively watching a live match that I lose my mind, and then only with a few players/situations.
The one thing I am most definitely thrilled about is that I did not want to see a straight sets win, at all, by either player - clearly would never have happened for Djok IMO, highly possible for Rafa, but thank goodness not today. Real competition, way to go guys. Hell, take it to 5, play a great, tight match, too bad it's on a Monday, but weren't all the other Slam finals for the men this year decided in straights? Hmph.

Rafa's getting the job done, but looking unhappy out there. He's not really playing the big points that well.

Geez, how many break points is Nadal going to miss? At least he's tiring Djokovic out, because Novak looks tired. But really, Nadal should have already won this set.

Finally took the set. It's making me nervous.

Yeah, I was nervous too but now I think he's got his rhythm back. Go Rafa!

Djokovic has really been playing those break points well, but Rafa's usually much tougher in those situations than he has been, isn't he?

Yeah, Rafa seemed to lose concentration or rhythm or something for a bit. But now...

That was some damn fine tennis. A few of those points had me out of my seat.

Pretty amazing. I think Rafa looked a little nervous there at the end. Now we get a completely rushed ceremony. Yay.

He seemed pretty nervous through a lot of the match.
Boy, Collette sure knows how to carry a flag, doesn't she?

Oh...my...God. That was amazing. I had to force myself to watch that last game, no matter how nervous I was. So proud of Rafa. Throughout his career so many have said he would never be able to do certain things: 1) Win Wimbledon 2) Adapt his game to hard courts 3) Win a HC slam 4) Win the US Open to complete the career slam I admit that even a huge Rafa fan like me had doubts about some of those things from time to time. Just seems so silly now.

Wow. That was a spectacular final. I don't know what happened to make Rafa so off there for a little bit--but he certainly played through it. Some of those points were absolutely stupendous.
I'm going to admit--Beaker really surprised me. He played so very, very well and was a great complement to Rafa's play. I've said it before, I'll say it again--smash that racquet! It gets the nerves out and keeps the players from eating themselves alive.
Halfway through the 3rd set I wasn't too concerned about Rafa not winning but those points were so good that I never even thought of changing the channel. Great final. And Rafa deserved a great final to get his first Open. And, boy, New York sure loves Rafa, huh? My ears are still ringing from the cheering when he won.
