Could you imagine if Goran and Fabrice were on the same team? There's some fun. In case anyone is interested, there are streams of it. Speaking of Serena, she's got some new colors in her nail polish line. I love "Your Royal Shine-ness," it's got the silver without all the other color glitter in the other silver. Don't like the purple, but I don't like shiny purple anyway. TTC screwed me royally this morning. Their schedule on my TV said they were going to air the men's doubles semis this morning and I was so excited about getting to see Max/Daniel vs. Nenad/Michael and nope. Nothing. Another re-air of Rafa/Soderling.

Li Na was on fire! I'm thrilled for her. I always love when someone new breaks through to the fnals.
But what the heck happened to Maria's serve?

Darn. Darn. Darn. I love Li Na (is it possible not to?) but I was pulling so hard for Maria. This was her absolute best chance for the career slam.
How cute is Goran and Stich standing there waiting for Fabrice to stop talking to the on-court press? Chatty, chatty.

Thanks for that Roger clip, grandslamguru! That was sweet.
I'm really happy for Li Na. A little surprised but she sure seemed to be playing great (I only saw the last few games, I didn't realize it was live on ESPN).
Now I'm a little torn though because if Schiavone wins I'll be rooting for both in the final. And that's rare for me.

I love how he 1) let all those fans paw all over him and 2) immediately saw out of the corner of his eye that something wrong had happened and he went right over.
The Bryan brothers are out! I know I just lost any (small) chance I had of watching the men's doubles final on tape delay on TTC with them not in it, but I don't care. Yeah!

I didn't get to see any of the first semi, but I followed the score on my phone for some of it. I'm really excited for Na. I'll have to catch the replay at some point, but it seems like it was a tight match.
While I was writing this, Cahill and McKendry just interviewed her. Every time I hear her do an interview I like her more, she's so great. Please win.

Wow, Frannie is playing great and really wants to defend her title. I like Marion, too, so the outcome won't bother me either way.

LMAO. Now that was hilarious. I must check out the blog. Thanks for sharing falafaclese.ETA: I just visited the blog. The latest entry about both the men's and women's semis is a hoot, too. I love this writer! Here's how he ended his summary: In the end, one thing is clear. The semifinals - and this tournament as a whole - will break my heart. And make it soar. Game set and match, Roland Garros.
[/blockquote]

Watched both semis - Maria's serve, dear God! It's fucking windy, please play accordingly. So happy for Na, who is turning into the most dependable player in the majors.
The Schiavone/Bartoli match was definitely the better played of the two. Too bad Marion fell apart in the last game because it would have been interesting for Frankie to serve it out.

Pissed - had a whole post almost done and POOF, gone! Anyway, I apologize cause my key between e and t on kb, beweem q and s in alphabet is non-functionial. I haven't been posting at all, but I think/hope my best tennis buddies will accept me and not be annoyed. I'm going to use - as a -eplacement, okay?
Totally imp-essed with Li Na, Ma-ia was on such a -oll, and she is a to the death fighte-. But clay and gusting winds has to be he- wo-st nightma-e. I like Li Na just fine, but was pulling fo- Ma-ia to get the ca-ee- GS. Except fo- the goddamn NOISE, that's tough to take. Plus I guess I -eally haven't been giving Na the c-edt she s due - she's obviously the -eal deal. Each at thei- best I'd always pick Ma-ia, but how often d you get a match with each at thei- best? You have to play on the day,
Should be an exciting final - 2 olde- and ve-y c-afty playe-s ..... as of now I don't even know who I'd want to win, guess I'll find out while I watch, will find myself pulling fo- one of them.
And of cou-se I'm so fixated(OBSESSED?)l on Fed I was expecting to get up and see his match - I knew it was scheduled on F-i, and this isn't F-i .... but I still woke up with Fed on my mind. Sadly, I expect him to lose, Djok just seems untouchable now, but still hope sp-igs ete-nal, and at least I'd know, no mo-e anxiety.
Nice clip of him with the tumbling fan, but nothing less than I would expect of him. I think he's just a kind man. Wouldn't give you an inch competitively, pound you into the g-ound with absolutely no me-cy - but that's in competition, not the -est of life.
So, the men go 1-2-3-4, the women go .... 6 and up, seedwise. Women's tou- is just such a mess. And what is up with Mu---ay? Muscle pull AND to-n tendon? How is he even playing? I know all the athletes a-e tough as nails, but huh?
Finally(maybe) I won't -eally mind if Djok wins it all as I expect him to - I'll just mind him beating Fed. It's not okay fo- anybody to beat Fed, except fo- Nadal sometimes, he's the only one I conside- t-uly wo-thy .... I mean you win, you win, you eaned it, I just hate it. Though honestly Djok isn't chopped live- - I've been im-essed with his game fo- yea-s, even when he was kindo of a putz, and nowadays he has definitely matu-ed, and I -eally don't have anything against him. Man can play tennis!
ETA: yeah, not so much with the "finally" Awesome looking legends doubles final! Twin towe-s, se-ving machines vs cleve-, exe-ienced, excellent doubles guys. Not to mention:Fab-ice!!! Go-an! Do love me some Go-an, but not to the extent of Fab-ice. Classic match of powe- vs st-ategy. Only question is: will it be televised? Best be.
Oh and yeah - it's amazing how much that key I don't have is used. I know "e" is the most common, but damn a whole, whole lot of wo-ds contain a .............

acre, reading your post was like trying to figure out those puzzles that were in the paper when we were kids--loved it! And quite easy to decipher once I started seeing "r" instead of hyphen. I hope you don't forget where the "r" is on the keyboard when you get it fixed.
Lousy, lousy day today (work, not tennis) so I hope that doesn't spill into tomorrow with the men's matches. I really want Fed (surprise, surprise) so that means I'm really rooting for Andy. Not just because I'd like Andy to get this but also because a Fed/Rafa French final doesn't tend to be good thing--quality-wise.
Bill Macatee had someone on from the USTA (? I think? Some official connected to the USTA) talking about the Davis Cup tie. He was all braggy about how quickly the tickets sold out and that just annoys me. Once it came out that the USTA "forgetting" to include a presale code left it open for every ticket scalper to snatch up the tickets before individuals could I just think the USTA should be a bit more careful about bragging about the quick sell out.

I'm so glad for Li Na and Frankie. But I don't know whom to root for. I like them both so much. I think I may root for Li so that she can have a grand slam title too. It's also nice to see a player as graceful as Li. She has a graceful figure, like Sharapova, and she moves and swings her racquet with just as much grace, unlike Sharapova.
I thought both TTC broadcast teams did a great and informative job calling the matches. MJF and Cliffie on ESPN2 were good, but less interesting and observant. For example, the TTC gals totally nailed the difficulty Sharapova was having with the wind, while the ESPN2 team didn't focus on it nearly as much.
I think Martina is absolutely excellent, even if I wish she would cut back 5-10 percent on pure verbiage. Just take a breath every few minutes, Martina. But what she says is really, really interesting and observant about match play, opportunities lost during important points, technique etc. I think Mary C is much better than she is/was on NBC/CBS/ESPN, although I wish she would jettison the Bolliteri impersonations. They creep me out.
Lindsay and Corinna were fabulous during the Bartoli-Frankie match. Corinna in particular did some stellar sideline observing; she noticed that Bartoli was losing a lot of energy in her legs and it was really affecting the quality of her serving. I wasn't clear, however, whether CM thought it was a result of all the extra, energy-expending movement Bartoli does or just less than good conditioning or what.
MAN, am I nervous about Roger tomorrow
I notice that Pauline Betz Addie died. As a kid growing up in Washington, DC, I went to Addie's day tennis camp at Sidwell Friends. Falafaclese, did you grow up in DC? If so, did you ever go to the Addie camp?
