Okay, splain some of that to me, pretty please mooncreek? I know who Aravane(s?) Rezai is, but am clueless about her trainwecky-ness?
Again, I don't have in depth knowledge of Pironkova, but I take nothing f-om the fact that S had to fight to beat he- in 3 sets .... the vey 1st 3 competitive sets S had played in a YEAr! Big whoop.
And more fuel to the fire on the Williams' seedings: Today's Yahoo a-ticle is headlined Williams sisters loom over Wimbledon. Gee, ya think??
And Woz says "No one wants to play them. They have the experience and play really well, especially on grass," said Wozniacki.
"It's good that they got a higher seed than their rankings because no one wants to play them in the early rounds."
I mean fine, Woz has yet to win a Slam, and she has a somewhat limited game, but hell she's been #1 on and off a good while now, and I su-e can't recall anyone calling he dumb, right

I am so not happy about this. I was all looking forward to listening to Radio Wimbledon on my commute in the mornings and that's not going to happen. I wonder what happened between IBM and Android. . . they had the app the past couple of years.
And the website doesn't have the live scores mini-window that I love so much. I'm getting exasperated. . . (nevermind, I'm just an idiot--you have to click on "Scoreboard" when you are on the live scores page and it comes up--however, it only shows one match at a time so not very helpful.)
Whoa, Bellucci is out. By Schuettler. That's a bit of a surprise. And, darn, I was hoping Haas could get one match win under his belt. Sadly, I'm guessing his retirement won't be far in the future.

Court No.2 looked very nice and biggish. I love the pristine green grass before it gets all torn up going in to the 2nd week.
Venus looked nice. Don't like the brown bra or whatever but I thought her outfit looked better than they've looked in a while. She served extremely well and I hope, pray, on my knees really, that she can keep up for six more matches and take it all.
Saw Rafa was down in the 1st set but of course came storming back.
Young looks to be making a match of it.
And I'm waiting in anticipation of what Roger is going to wear.

I am on my own babysitting three kids at my sister's house, but we've got a slip and slide, and I hope to catch some tennis occasionally. Count me among those truly annoyed by Wimbledon's women's seeding. Fucking ridiculous.
Off topic, but is it possible anyone else can join oops, lt, and me in Chicago on Monday, June 27? I think it may be the first Tennis Heaven meeting that consists of more than 2 people!

Perhaps I'm just in a bad mood because the season "finale" of The Killing PISSED ME THE FUCK off, but where the hell is SlamTracker? I LOVE SlamTracker.
I love that at a glance, I could see what was happening on almost all courts. Now we have this Point Stream. Loathsome. We need to rise up in protest.

Perhaps I'm just in a bad mood because the season "finale" of The Killing PISSED ME THE FUCK off, but where the hell is SlamTracker? I LOVE SlamTracker. This times a million. Did I just watch 13 hrs of Murder She Wrote/ Law & Order both of which I love but was expecting something else entirely so I'm pissy. And even though the last minute threw shade on the prime suspect I was still unhappy as I though it was a self contained season. On the other hand really happy w/ Game of Thrones, cliff hanging yeah but maybe it was b/c I was expecting as much considering the source material... Bad loss for Bellucci. And D Young lost that match when he couldn't close out Set # 1 though I suppose it's better than folding entirely. I was impressed that Riske made a match of it, wonder if C McHale can maintain her 3rd set lead.

I believe the Danish show on which it was based WAS a self-contained season. Seriously, the two most incompetent cops ever, Larsen family misery porn and the two worst run campaigns in the history of campaigning. All of the people were incompetent at whatever they were supposed to be doing. All the teasing and I don't even get to finish? Screw them backwards with a hedgehog.
Yes, I'll drop the subject now.
I, like most tennis fans, have a soft spot for Dokic. She went through so much with her vicious crazy father. I hope she beats Frannie. It is a dreadful loss for Bellucci, but Schuettler made the semis a couple years ago. This is a good tournament for him.
More shocking to me is Peer losing to Ksenia Pervak. WHO?
I decided to randomly like Lucas Lacko a few years ago and he's out. I just think it's such an unfortunate name that he needs someone to support him.
Vee breezed through and that's very important to me. I am so pro-Vee this time.
ETA: SO SO SO SO SO IRRITATED. Radio Wimbledon is 1-2 points AHEAD of the scoreboard. How can that be? Radio is always about 10-15 seconds behind the scoreboard. The announcers are telling me match results when it's DEUCE on the scoreboard. Someone at Wimbledon has fallen down on the job. Ridiculously bad.

I, too, lament the demise of SlamTracker. I always thought Wimby had the best website, radio, etc. Now, not so much.

I thought Venus played really well out there. Served well and very few unforced errors. Her outfit to me however was awful. She looked like an extra from Xanadu.

Haw! Please never leave us again, apoc.
I'm enjoying the Frankie/Dokic match. I'm firmly rooting for Jelena, and the fact that she seems to be enjoying herself out there is adding to my rooting interest. I was a little worried when she twisted her ankle, but so far she seems okay.
Christina McHale played a good match too. She has a good game for grass.
Yes, the disappearance of the slamtracker/interactive draw is a huge problem. What the hell is going on? Whoever decided that it was a good idea to get rid of it should be shot.
Okay, maybe that's a bit extreme. They should be poked repeatedly with a sharp stick.

Yeah, IBM is not doing a good job so far this Wimbledon.
One good thing about the rain is that Radio Wimbledon is airing some press conferences. They always crack me up. Venus is a super pro at answering stupid questions as if they were actually valid. And Rafa is starting to interact with the media in a really positive way. And Murray isn't being surly at all--even though I've heard them ask him about the ankle more than once in the same day interview.
Yeah, Like a pool cover up at a singles resort. Of course the outfit Stosur has been wearing most of the season looks like a cover up at a family beach so I'm not quite sure what is going on.

I finally made it back to this board (the past couple weeks were crazy busy). Thanks to all who made me feel so welcome on the RG thread. I'm getting to enjoy all the tennis today as I'm home from work semi-sick (One of those...I don't feel that well but COULD have gone to work and just stuck it out but thought, eh, it's the first day of Wimbledon!) I'm glad to see Venus playing well and winning (she is my favorite on the women's side - even more than Serena who I also like). And of course, it was good to see Rafa breeze even if it was expected. I had to laugh when Chris Evert, when talking about a tight 1st round women's match, said, "it shows the depth of the women's game." No Chris, it shows how much the women's game sucks now. NO ONE has stepped up to the plate in the absence of the top players. I'm thinking that despite a year off, Serena has a very good chance to defend. After her, I would give the nod to either Maria or Venus. But hey, maybe I'll be surprised. I feel for Isner and Mahut. Everyone has such high expectations of their match and it will probably be a routine 3-4 set affair. But I'll be watching of course!.

I like Jelena and would be rooting for her under other circumstances but you have to understnd...I am Italian American and have many relatives in Italy. So I was rooting for Francesca and glad she pulled it out. Go Italia!

Aww, I love Frankie, but I almost always have to root for Jelena (sorry micki). She looked really bummed at the end there, but at least what I saw of it was very entertaining.

Hey, no problem falafaclese! I've always liked Jelena and wouldn't have been upset to see her win. I just liked Frankie showing she can win (at least one match!) at Wimbledon. Like I said, I have tons of cousins in Italy (I was over there in 2006 when Italy won the World Cup and Oh My Fucking God, That Was Crazy!!!) so I know they will be celebrating.
