It looks like Elisa Kleybanova will be starting her comeback in Miami. I'm glad to see her treatment went well.

Very nice performance by Vika. I like the guy-ish vibe she has when she's in the court.
ABC has some kind of weird metallic twang every few seconds that is really bugging me.
Kudos to Christine Taylor for the Pam Shriver afro reference.

And to looking so damn good in her 40s (makes me so sad [and old] that I remember her as a kid on that Nickelodeon show "Hey Dude" that I was too old to watch when it was on). Oh well, at least Ben Stiller will always be older than me.
Roger was attacked by streamers! Wish John and Maria had been able to compete a bit better but good luck to them all next week and I hope John and Sam have a great doubles match tonight.

For those of you wanting to watch the doubles final, just for the heck of it I tried ESPN3 (espn.go.com) as directed by Cahill's Twitter (thanks lt!), and it's coming in great. I didn't use to get ESPN360, but this is coming through, and they didn't ask me what my cable/internet provider was or anything like that, so maybe anyone can get it.

harry, I think Verizon FIOS (that's what you have, right?) added ESPN3--it was on the list that I got yesterday when it asked my provider. Of course Cablevision is still not on it. And darn, I was hoping that if ESPN3 was airing it that would mean I could find a stream on livescorehunter.com but nope. Oh well.

Yes, lt, I have Verizon FIOS. I guess they can tell without asking. Which is creepy, but not even close to the creepiest thing "they" can tell about me without asking. Ugh.
Isn't it funny that you know what cable provider an (almost) complete stranger has? What a weird world we're living in.
Rafa and Lopez are playing awesomely. I think Lopez might be the MVP of this match.
Now, onto a really important topic: how long has it been that Rafa's had shorts that fit him so well? They finally solved the problem of fitting the ample butt without the shorts looking totally baggy. Blake should try the same shorts. It was always so disappointing that these gorgeous men with these gorgeous bodies ended up looking dumpy.

I've just watched on replay as I was out today. Great to see Roger playing so well, but nice to see John's progress too.
I was really surprised that commentators weren't favoring Roger playing in the wind all weekend, I remember him having impressive victories in the USO (against Agassi and Sod for two) in very windy conditions.
Azarenka's play is impressive but she really ought to drop the victory dance. It's so in-your-face to her opponent IMO.

Yeah, I was wondering about the same thing--they kept complimenting Rafa about his wind playing but nothing about Roger. Am I forgetting some windy match that he blew? (heh, pun unintended)
I'm cleaning up my camera's memory cards and I've realized that I hadn't downloaded any tennis pictures from after the 2010 US Open. If I come across anything really good, I'll upload them to Flickr. Of course what I feel is worthy probably won't be the same as what you all think is--I appear to have taken A LOT of pictures of Fer practicing shirtless at last year's IW but, eh, shirtless is shirtless. . . .

I hope this tournament finally puts an end to Roger having to answer questions about retirement. It's safe to say that Roger has been playing like the second best player in the world since the summer. If you look at the rankings, you'll see that Roger is less than a thousand points away from Rafa. Of greater importance is that Rafa has a ton of points to defend and Roger had a couple of early losses last clay season.
I realize Rafa never looks his best on hard courts but the number of matches I've seen him fade out mentally since September, combined with the Novak problem, make for a very important three months.

It just gets harder and harder for me to keep disliking Djokovic (actually, I'm already past disliking him so I guess it's getting harder to just not flat out like him). Here's his tweet after yesterday's final:
And the reason I even saw it was because John thanked him for the kind words. I love Isner's tweets--he thanks everybody for wishing him luck, usually by name. It's like the 2012 version of his mom teaching him to send thank you notes.

Tennis Channel is airing the 100 Greatest of All Time with a follow-up Classic Match. I didn't watch the countdown but the match was when Maria beat Serena at 2004 Wimbledon. While there really isn't that much different in watching Maria on a basic level, I forgot how much her father was involved in her matches in the early days. So glad he's focused on other things.
Also, Maria's post-match interview for this is so ridiculously adorkable and amazingly savvy at 17.

I just started watching some of that match, mooncreek, and it's at 2-1 first set, and NEITHER ONE OF THEM IS SCREAMING!

Kleybanova won her first match back. Venus plays Date-Krumm in her first match back tomorrow. Yikes.

Aw, I'm so glad for Kleybanova. It must feel so great to come from something so frightening and be able to resume your previous life. I read that she did some of her treatment in Italy where her Italian volleyball-player boyfriend lives. Another "aw."
