Less than a day to go before the start of play. I just realized that Serena and Mari are set to meet in the quarterfinals. That's a shame, because that should definitely be at least a semifinal match. It's a little odd seeing the two of them together here: Evidently, Maria was just set to practice on the court after Serena's practice session, but they do seem kind of comfortable, don't they?

Is that Oracene in the blue? Her back looks...odd. FRENCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah....I'm all on my couch with the DirecTV mix channel, Radio Roland Garros on the laptop, exploring the RG app on iPad. I'm so French obsessed. It's my fav. I am totally missing Elie and Araz on RRG. They were so fucking funny but not nearly stuffy enough I suspect. I'm putting my general comments here. Again. I've been way out of it. Everything is great now and he's made a miraculous full recovery, but I spent the months of December through April sitting at a hospital bedside. I didn't get to enjoy the Australian at ALL. I can't even remember who won. Djokovic? Azarenka? I think, but I'm not sure. Whatever. Remembering that I missed it makes me decide I'm owed dinner. With margaritas. Did Djokovic really wear clothes with his name on his ass? Like the girls on my hot niece's gymnastic team? Mostly they wear shorts with "Tumble" on the ass, but they did have their names as well. Ass writing should be saved for 1. high schoolers, 2. with perfect asses, that are 3. GIRLS. Ass writing on a guy is way too on the twink side. Did Nole switch teams when I wasn't watching? If he did, I'm thinking it's because he has a massive crush on Stepanek. All the girls want The Worm. (Yeah, I still got my bitch on about Djokovic. ) PS. I LOVE dianthus! Where I live in Ohio, it's almost a perennial. About 70% of mine come back every year. I have them along my drive. I also have pink narcissus, this blue wildflower that blooms every day, and I put in yellow and purple petunias, the bottom of the drive is anchored with shasta daisies branching out to rose bushes on either side. As for ground cover, I've had an accidental explosion of variegated periwinkle. I had to thin it so my hydrangeas could come back.

Three hours in and I'm already responding to my own post! HAH. It's because you people should be watching the French with me. My non-tennis fan friends are refusing to speak to me this week. Those bitches! I found Nole's butt. I'll post the link but not the image. dailychuckle.typepad.com/.a/6a00e54ee7a84388330120a8985234970b-450wiBeing a connoisseur of Rafa's fine ass photos, Nole's simply doesn't hold up. Montanes just took the second set from DelPo. I've missed JCF. He is still hot, but he seems like such an oldie on the tour now.

apocalipstick, you missed Nole's tight shorts at Madrid and Rome. And I'm like you with RRG on my laptop and the Mix Channel up. I'm waiting around for Venus' match. Del Po's knee looks to be getting worse. Too bad. And JCF made it to the quarters of Rome but lost against Roger I believe. Still looked hot though.

Tight shorts? Did Nole steal my 7th grade cheerleading outfit? Name on my butt, tight shorts. Soon he's going to be rocking some mall hair and fingerless gloves.
I have a bad feeling about DelPo as well.
Stan dropped a set. I am NOT going to listen to any part of the Ivanovic match. NOT going to happen. I'm torn on her outfit. I like the bold color combination, but I'm disturbed by that green against the red clay.
I have so missed you, Fernando Verdasco. We should sit on a boat with Feli and his girlfriend drinking mimosas.

Adidas has some pretty ugly clothes this clay court season. I like the green, not too bad, but I won't be watching her match either. And did you hear about Verdasco beating Rafa in Madrid? The blue clay got into Rafa's and Nole's head. Plus it was pretty slippery.
I have to say I hate that ESPN has Wimbledon now. I know it's wishful thinking but I'd like it if ESPN bought the rights to NBC's Wimbledon music. I love their Wimbledon theme music so much.

I have a hate on for ESPN. I think I mentioned in the general thread my thoughts on the McEnroe boys. Is that stupid British cow with the irrational hate of Tim Henman going to be on? Fuck.
Verdasco has come back to be up 5-3 after getting broken in his first service game. Yay.
Stan and Cipolla are going to five.
I LOVE the Roddick disrespect on RRG. He does suck at the French and always has. Why should we pretend otherwise just because he's American? (By the way, his wife got her bad boob job repaired. Such a relief that she's not all weirdly North/South on the red carpet.)
I think I'd love Ivanovic's outfit at the USO.
Montanes is totally falling apart out there. I remember him having a 44 point game or something against Rafa a few years ago.

The saga of Del Po's rackets continues. Apparently he's playing with the same rackets from 2009, when he won the US Open. He had 19 or 17 of them back then. He has like 4 left. He won't play with anything else, not even new rackets of the same version he has from Wilson. He's that superstitious. I find that crazy. He just has the rackets painted again and again and re-strung. But he'll practice with new rackets and be fine but on court for a match he can't play with them.
I forgot how much time ESPN wastes time with useless talk at their desk while live tennis is on. I'd love it if Renee Stubbs were here for the French. I hope she is. She's does a great job commentating. I loved her and Serena at Charleston. She's so much better than Chrissy. Leaps and bounds better than Pam and Mary Jo combined. Plus she gets along with all the players it seems.

I didn't know that about the DelPo rackets. He needs to go all Bull Durham and wear women's panties on court. Kuznetsov looks like he's about twelve. I'd be fine with an upset there although I do like Tsonga. I'm just not always fond of the French crowds. Darcis looks like he's just bored. I kind of love the Verdasco shirt color combo of the blues and orange. It also looks good against the clay. Mahut always makes me think "Alien Shapeshifter #3 from X-Files." He could also be a Star Trek extra.

So JMac started talking about Brian Baker, and mentioned that he made it to the final in Nice, but then didn't know what the outcome from yesterday's final was? As a commentator it seems like you should know those things, or at least know enough to keep your mouth shut if you don't. It makes you look bad, and even worse, it makes you look like you don't give a shit; especially now, when with the internet and smartphones the answer to just about anything you could possibly ask is literally seconds away. Plus, I'm sure they must have people there whose sole job is to look up facts. Meanwhile, not more than 30 minutes before, the ESPN crew had just spoken at length about Baker, and even interviewed him. Weak.
I'm glad to hear everything worked out okay for you, apoc. It's good to have you back, and even better to hear that you made it through such a tough time okay.

I'm afraid I have to thank God for ESPN. No TTC means no tennis for me unless ESPN airs it. Damn I hate Cablevision (broken record, I know). Not only do they not carry TTC but they also don't allow ESPN3. They suck.
Is Chris Evert the Debbie Downer-ist of all Debbie Downers? The desk had Brian Baker on and in the midst of all the feel-good, positive talk about Baker and how he's going into this season you've got Evert putting the kibosh on the happy and telling him he has to focus (like he didn't know that) and not let the positive attention go to his head. You could tell the producers started squawking into McKendry, Evert and Mary Jo's ears because Evert starting saying "stop me" and McKendry had to grab her hand. It was so odd. But Baker! Tommy John surgery?!? Yikes. What's interesting is that when a pitcher gets the surgery they take the unused ligament out of the wrist (you know the one--make a muscle, look down at the inside of your wrist and the one that pops up is the one they take out) so the athlete won't have to deal with losing the use of both arms while rehabbing. But a pitcher doesn't use his wrist as much as a tennis player does so I wonder how Baker has had to adjust. Also, it's looking like the surgery lasts about 10 years, but that shouldn't affect Baker as much as it is starting to affect pitchers who are getting the surgery before they even make it to the bigs.
I know, right? Just wish I could see the match but I know NBC will probably be airing it on tape delay later (which is why I can't count NBC when I talk about needing to have ESPN covering tennis if I want to watch it live). Would it be wrong to move simply because I can't stand not being able to have DirecTV or FIOS?
