Thank you for the info, chocula.
As far as I can tell, the only two American players currently on tour who are adverse to the clay are Roddick and Blake. Fish would have played through if he could but we know now why he skipped. Isner skipping Monte Carlo made sense in light of other events but he's still America's best hope on this surface. Querrey went through qualifying at a couple of events - and he's won a European clay title before. Harrison and Young may have lost matches but they both played nearly every week, in the hopes it will pay dividends a few years from now.

Radio Roland Garros just had Tursunov on. Oy, he's gotten quite cranky--I think the injuries have really brought him down. They were asking him about what he's been doing in Paris during his down time and he said he does nothing because he's spending as much time on the grounds as he can because he doesn't know when it will be his last opportunity. When the guys said he sounds like he's still loving being on tour on his Twitter and such he replied that he wasn't going to go into his life problems online but that he was glad to play tennis because it's better than having to sit in a cubicle and "like and unlike people because you don't have anything else to do." Good thing this interview was after a win because it would have been deadly after a loss. . .
Sad that Sam lost to Tipsy. Winning the first set and breaking back in the third to get to 5-5 gave me a little hope, but alas, it was not to be.
I like Tommy's harlequin shirt. And the blue is a really nice blue. Maybe I'm just happy not to see him in the white undershirt.

Just saw that Rafa has 6 on the back of one of his Nike shoes. I love NikeID where you can design your own shoe and then put your name or numbers on the back of your shoes. I have a few too many Nike shoes because of this. And I love that that's what Rafa has on his shoes. Wouldn't mind if they already had his shoes with 7 on for the final. I'm wondering if they made him a jacket like they did Roger with 7 on it. I hope they don't. Or at least they don't make him wear it right after the match like at Wimbledon with Roger. It should be worn in the press conference. Or when they take pictures after the ceremony.

Just watched Nadal. He had a very unNadal-like second set. Bolleli broke him once on a double fault and then had four break points in Nadal's next service game. Rafa got over that blip, but it was an odd 15 minutes or so. Of course, JMac was just rabbiting on about Borg, so it's not like any insights were heard. Ted Robinson's sole mission is to provide openings for JMac to talk about Borg.
I am really loving Serena's dress. It looks so fresh and springy. The color is amazing on her skin.
I totally enjoyed the Chardy match. 11-9 in the fifth!
I missed seeing Tommy Haas's shirt. Photos anyone? I'm not always fond of prints although I do miss Fabrice in his Skittles shirt. I'm just missing Fabrice.
I did hear JMac ripping a bit on Llendl. I guess there's an article in one of the French papers about how Ivan was always a jokester on tour and JMac was incredulous. I just want to ring JMac's neck. I know Llendl was not particularly popular, especially in the US, but JMac is a raging ass. He probably just neve got the joke.

Amen, sister. This won't really help because the shirt he had on today was blue with green-ish blue diamonds. This blue-on-white is okay, but I liked today's better. Yeesh, Andy, want to get off the court much? He managed to come out/warm up/win his match in the amount of time I was at the gym at lunch. eta: speaking of photos, I'm going to applaud rolandgarros.com. FINALLY, a website that understands what a photo gallery should look like. Here's the link. In the shots from today, there is a spectacular shot of Maria in action. It's really beautiful.

Geesh, Blake is playing terribly. He and Roddick have no mojo.

Seeing the words "Roddick" and "mojo" in the same sentence will never not be funny. Mojo, with the exception of the Federer match, has been missing since the US Open.
It's funny how Rafa's the only one of the Big Four to not play a close set in terms of score but that stretch after 4-0 in his second set is what sticks in my head. I think because it showed there's actually a strategy that, with a more consistent player than Bolelli, could work! Too bad Rafa's draw doesn't really have any of those heavy hitters in the draw (except for Raonic but I'm not sure he'll get to the 4th round).
Heard that Karlovic is having shoulder issues... how else do you get bagelled by Schwank?
JMac is not the only former player to comment about Lendl's sense of humor - he's just the one we'll be hearing it from the next two weeks.

Serena Williams v Razzano is more interesting than one would have thought. We're at one set each.

Serena. What in the everliving fuck are you doing out there? Channeling James Blake?
Roddick. His hair has gone in search of his missing mojo.

Wait. . . what the hell? I wasn't paying attention, Serena was cruising along and now she's one game from losing the match?

Hee, falafaclese, we're just too sympatico. . . .
Is she hurt? I'm now watching the TTC stream and she looks a little flat-footed but I can't tell if she's hurt.
eta: meanwhile, the online TTC commentators are sounding a bit desperate right now thinking Serena can turn it around. Now, I believe Serena can do it but they just sound so scared.

I predict that if Serena pulls this off, she'll win the tournament. I just hope a loss won't keep her from the Olympics.
P.S. I suck at making accurate predictions so...

Oh, GrandSlamGuru, I hadn't thought of that! No Olympics. . . that would be awful.
Weirdly, she needs just one break to get back on serve and she seems kind of listless.
Oh dear--Razzano is cramping so badly she can't serve. This is one f*'ed up match. OH MY GOODNESS--a teeny little grunt (nothing like we normally hear) and Razzano loses another point? The earlier one I'll give the ump but there is no way that last little sound is deserving a lose of point to give Serena a break point.
Hmmm, I do wish this ump could chair a Vika match. Azarenka would lose without ever getting through a game.
eta: I'm totally cheating--LiveScores is one point ahead of the stream so I'm watching the match knowing the outcome of each point already. It helps with the stress.
Meanwhile, what's going on with Blake/Youzhny? The score hasn't changed from 5-0 in the second for ages.

She's come out flat-footed before, but if she's still flat-footed now at the tail end of the match, she's gonna lose. Geez, she's completely distracted me from what I was doing, and I can't even watch.
