Maria was just playing so ridiculously lights out. I wish Sasha had been able to be there because I love seeing him so into her matches. And Errani sure did play well, for a straight-set-not-really-in-question match it sure didn't feel like it. She's a battler.
Why is everyone giving her babies to kiss?
eta: falafaclese, I loved that moment when she wanted to both jump and fall to the clay.
Man, Errani has gorgeous eyes.

Good for Maria. She looked genuinely relieved, excited and happy to have won another major. Nice reaction. I'm sure we'll be seeing the shot of her jumping with her arms out everywhere.

Good fo- Masha, wouldn't say it was the most exciting match in the wo-ld, but it had its moments, and the btte- playe- won. Sa-a definitely has nothing to be ashamed of! She's in a GS final! Good enough fo- me. Even among the women they'-e a-e only a few I'd think of as "legit" CGS, and she is one of them. The women's game needs all it can get, so you go Masha ... just go quietly, okay?
I guess they'll show the men's dubs - GS obviously, but also #1 vs #2, with #2 being the B-yans.

Probably not, acre, NBC only has coverage for another hour and they won't go over time for doubles. I've already staked out my spot on lshunter, hopefully it will be a good stream.
Awww, calling Maria the runner-up made Sara smile. Worth it just for that.
eta: ARGH! The stream died and went to beach soccer right in the middle of Game, Set & Mats interviewing Novak. I think they're trying to fix, but I don't know if they'll be successful. I'm going to be so unhappy if I can't watch the doubles final. eta2: Phew, it's back. Hopefully it will stick around.
btw: falafaclese, while I was searching around for a stream I saw at least four instances of that arms akimbo shot that you called as the one everyone was going to show.

That's p-obably not what you meant to imply, but NOBODY has the beauty(and effectiveness!) of Fed's old game. Thei- own beauty, awesome, and effective, but not the dance.
Wow, I'm shocked, no doubles at all! The 1st listing I see is mixed on TTC Tues. Though I suppose if the men's final doesn't fill all all the 5 hs allotted to it, then we may get some dubs?
I'm too ne-vous to watch live st-eams since it was one of those that t-ashed the hell out of my old pc. One that had been well-vetted, that I'd used many times and then Kablooey Smash Bam, explosions, death, plague, you name it.

And decisively. I don't know if the Bryans are just going through a bad patch or if their age is catching up to them. Most doubles pairings split when they start having these kind of issues, but that's not going to happen here. Oh well, I'm liking where it's taking us so I'm good with it.

Well, I didn't see much but congrats to Maria. I would never have predicted it a couple of years ago with all of her problems. Says something about perseverance I guess. My only fear is that Madison Avenue will now explode with new Maria commercials for everything.
If it makes the Rafa fans feel better I am convinced he will win tomorrow. However I would *never* bet on tennis because you really can't tell about anything till it happens. Just another way of saying what do I know...

I played some clay court tennis today in honor of Maria's win. I'm gradually starting to get used to the weird bounces. Now if I could just get my feet moving like they should be.. Maybe Maria can give me some lessons.
Sara is such a scrapper, and she played some games which really showed why she's been one of the top women on clay this year. Maria came out there knowing this was a golden opportunity, and she's just as much a fighter as Sara, but she's got all that power to boot. It was clear where this match was going from the beginning, but Sara made it as interesting as any mismatch I've seen in a long time.

Haha, I did have a slight twinge of conscience as I wrote that... but my nostalgia let it go unchecked.
