Universal Sports was a disaster no one I knew had it.

Thanks for the zip code channel finder, gsg! If this helps anyone else, NBC Sports Channel seems to be on 590 for Verizon Fios. The listings have the Belmont listed as the event broadcast 7-9 am Monday, so I've set my DVR to record that, with fingers crossed.

The channel for DirectTV is 603. Just below the porn, lol. I never even knew I had it. It's got the Belmont at 7am but it will be the final. They were already showing previews.

I didn't see it. I was going to listen on my drive to work, but it was over by the time I got my phone set up to broadcast. Rafa won it on a double fault by Nole? Oh...Oh....should I take my unrepentant glee to the Haterade thread?

Whew= not the prettiest win but I will take it. Commies to Nole fans- tough way to lose the match but I am sure he will win the title someday.
The way Rafa was celebrating it seemed a little like he and his camp thought this could be his last grand slam title....it was kind of bittersweet. The Rafa/Pau Gasol bromance is a hoot.
I enjoyed how honest Rafa was when he was answering John McEnroe's questions. Johny Mc seemed like he was trying to bait him- but Rafa answered honestly- yes he wanted to stop when the conditions were bad and he could not play well and Nole was able to pin him back.
Speaking of Johnny Mac- may be time to put him out to the commentary pasture. He is so ill-informed nowadays about the players, their schedules and what has gone on in tennis over the past year. The only thing he seems to be interested in is drama.

Yeah JMac is watching too much reality TV or something.

JMac seems to think that he doesn't need to be aware of what's going on NOW. His old Borg stories and his continuing animosity towards Llendl are out of place. No one CARES anymore. JMac doesn't spend any time knowing the players of today, talking to their coaches, learning about their training techniques, understanding their injuries and health issues.
The game has moved on. JMac hasn't.
Although I find Gimelstob utterly revolting, at least he puts in effort. He's been out to Rafa's training center. He's talked to the Federer camp about the IMG move. He does what a good tennis commentator/journalist needs to do. But hey, JMac held the Byran spawn. Did you hear about it? I mean, he only mentioned it 85 times.

Ouch, I just hate to see a match end on a double-fault. But totally YAY Nadal, King of Clay. I was asleep but I'll watch and enjoy late-. Now it feels like all the "bests" a-e in place. Nadal=clay, Pete=g-ass, Fed=all. At the moment, at least, all reco-ds a-e made to be broken but these should last a little while. Oddly(?) it's Fed's that's most in dange-.
I'm not going to make excuses fo- JMac, he's lazy(always was), and biased to any kind of d-ama he can egg on, and annoying. But he doesn't need to make a living as a commentato-, which is what I think Gimelstob wants to do. Can't stand him but he's app-oaching it as a pro and JMac is just a dilettante.

The problem with Gimelstob is that he has such an unprofessional history that it's almost impossible to wash that away. I have never felt that he actually regretted what he said about Kournikova other than his regret for the backlash he received. He still seems to be a complete chauvinist. He has never seemed or acted repentant. He's just kind of ignored his history and hopes that everyone just forgets it. NO.
I do appreciate that he's stopped spending time commenting on the level of hotness of all the tennis wives and girlfriends. That's a bonus. I'll never forget that he used to do it though.

Add Mary to this mix as well. She's been annoying for years but I noticed while trying to sit through her and John this weekend that they are just a couple of grouchy old curmudgeons and it's no fun to listen to. The only thing it was doing was make Ted try to be *more* effusive and he's exhausting enough on his regular high.
I went into the men's final rooting for Novak but just when I was all sad and stuff for him (when he was down two sets and I think a break) they started showing his parents after every single point. That turned me around so quickly that I just couldn't take it anymore and took a nap instead. Turns out it's hard to watch a match when you don't want either player to win. And only a Djoker parent would wear a hat that said "Yes, it's me" in French. Tool. Where's Jelena? If the 'rents are back and the sweetie girlfriend is gone I'm jumping firmly off the Nole-doesn't-bother-me-anymore train.
Two good things for me about it finishing up this morning and one for the folks who didn't know what NBC Sports is (when you want to watch the Stanley Cup finals, you figured it out already). For me: 1) woke up early so I could be all ready for work and get 20 minutes of the match on TV when I found out that the highway that I take to the park 'n ride was shut down so I still made it to work on time (no TV time though) 2) one last goodbye to Radio Roland Garros since I listened to the conclusion with them. That was nice. They've made my morning commute easy these past couple of weeks. For everyone else: now you know where NBC Sports is on your TV so you'll be ready for the Olympics.

WAHOOOOOO! It's so bad of me to almost be happier that Nole didn't get his 4-in-a-row. Such a relief. I'm not too happy that it ended on a double fault, though, that must've been such a let down for Nole, so I'll give him that much. And he played really, really well. Yes, conditions were bad for Rafa, but Nole was playing in them too...
Also, I liked earlier when Federer was asked why he yelled shut up and he totally took ownership of it. They sort of game him an 'out' but he was like, "yeah I was playing badly and was frustrated and took it out on the woman who yelled out". Even though it WAS obnoxious of the woman to yell it before the ball hit and incorrectly (I heard it clearly when it happened). I was kinda like "suck it up Fed" at the time, but liked the way he handled the interview.
