acre - Kim's playing women's doubles with Kirsten Flipken. When I'd initially heard Kim was playing mixed, I figured she'd be with Olivier Rochus since they were supposed to play the Olympics together.

That's AWESOME for Kim to play all three events. I wonder what was the last time she played doubles?

Seven games of solid play and then the losing streak version of Donald Young arrives. Roger reels off the last eight points of the first set. Looking like the entertainment value will be coming from a DY blowup and the McEnroes trading war stories about the DY experience. To be fair, that's mostly coming from JMac even though PMac has the personal gripe.

I ran out to the corner store just after the first set and missed the discussion. Is the DY experience the talk that he needs a new coach, new attitude, etc.?

He just hired a new coach, but yes to both. His game is very aesthetically pleasing, but I feel like he just doesn't have the head or the heart to make any kind of consistent impact. Maybe he'll mature and become a late bloomer, but there's such an undercurrent of petulance there, particularly when he's losing, I don't know.

I've decided that the the burst feature on my camera was made for Feli's shirt changes. Hmmmm, that sounds dirtier than I meant it. . .

lt, what's the SOTA of Feliciano's beard? Even the Mighty Beauty of Feliciano can't hold up against the Hideousness of the Neck Beard.
ETA: I'm watching the Clijsters-Duval match on DVR and am really enjoying the crisp, clean ball VD hits. In addition to the adorbs personality of course.

Question for you guys. Is tennis in HD really worth watching in? Looks like DirecTV switched their US Open mix to only HD users and I'm not sure it's worth the price to upgrade. I don't watch a lot of shows that would need HD.
And yes Donald Young is petulant when he starts to lose, like Ryan Harrison, and it's incredibly frustrating to watch. Sloane Stephens can get down on herself as well, but it's not petulance, but she tries to get over it. The boys don't.

Thanks, falafaclese. Twitter postings sounded as if the criticism was especially vicious, so I just wondered.

I love watching tennis in HD, and I'm to the point where watching it in SD bugs me. Not only is it clearer watching the ball, but something about seeing the actual faces of the people in the crowd adds to it too. But that may just be the tech whore in me talking. If you have a flat screen though, I'd recommend it.
BTW, for anyone who is giving twitter a try, I'd recommend following Darren Cahill. He tweets a lot during the majors, and it's usually something worthwhile.

Just saw Roger's latest Mercedes ad, and it was a little strange to hear one of Roger's "daughters" speaking English and with an American accent to boot.
