It's interesting that Djoker is the grumpy one today, not Murray, even though the wind is making it bad for both of them. But it's early...things could change.
54 shots in that rally. Crazy!

I'm home, the TV is on, I'm ready to go. I listened to USOpenradio until I walked in so I think the only part I thoroughly missed was the pre-match ceremony.
Don't break back Djoker! Meanwhile, I had no idea it had gotten so windy again. And Dammit. . .
And that 5-4 hold answers that question--crowd is behind Djoker.

Well, I can tell you that I'm nervous that Andy has to hold serve to get into the tiebreak. Djoker is starting to figure out the wind and gain confidence. Meanwhile, I just went through Judy Murray's twitter and Sean Connery (who they just showed on TV) is a big Murray fan and he went into Murray's press conference on Saturday.
Both guys are hitting pretty safely and waiting for someone's ball to get taken by the wind. Oh, and Djoker is coming in to the net more than usual because of the wind (I will stop saying "wind" at some point but it really is determining how they're playing right now).
Tiebreak! And isn't it nice of the guys to play this first set slowly? Hopefully some people will get home from work and get to watch. Heh, Djoker breathing hard and Andy grabbing onto body parts--in other words, status quo.
And to make anyone who can't watch on TV feel better: shut up Mary. And hee, they kept the mike on Andy as he went into one of his profanity-ridden rants to his box. I honestly couldn't make out the specific words but Bill Macatee apologized to the audience.
(on a completely different note: my cat was so excited when I walked in the door early but I went straight to the TV and now she's all pissed at me 'cause I'm not paying attention to her.)
They just showed the stat: 6 games all, 6 points each in the tiebreak, 40 points each. Andy serving up a mini-break! And dumps set point into the net! ARGH! So stressful. OMIGOD! 8-7 and another set point for Andy and the point went on forever until Andy hit it way out. 4th set point for Andy and this one is on his serve. . . shanked it! 5th set point on Djoker's serve. . . ace by Djoker. 6th set point on Andy's serve. . . DID IT!
An hour and a half first set and I would not have given a nickel for Andy's chances if he hadn't won that set after having so many set points. Oh, and forget what I said about hitting safely--they both went for broke in that tiebreak.

This is some great tennis.
The stands are filled in nicely now.
First set to Murray!
I have to run out for about an hour. Goodness knows what will happen in that time.

. . . and I have to pause the coverage for a bit so you won't be subjected to my rambling until I catch up again.
Last thought until then: I think Kim Sears discovered Drybar because her hair is super straight right now.

I don't think I've seen Novak trip and tumble over as much the rest of the year as I have so far in this match. Meanwhile, I suspect the windier it gets, the more miserable Novak will be (and as a result, the closer to happier Andy will get). The indignant looks Novak has been throwing are incredible - and, no, it's not about the crowd, who seem closer to his side.

I can't decide who I want to win. I'm basically "eh" about both guys. Well, I love thei- games, and the edge the-e would go to Djok., I love love love his tennis. Not him, mind you, but his game. OTOH it would be painful to see Andy lose again. Guess I'll have to see who's pissier.

That second set! I'm glad I had the option to put it on 1X speed during the games where Andy gave up his 4-1 lead. I don't think I could have handled watching it in real time. Thank goodness he managed to break to win the set because another tiebreak would have done me in.

Just turned on the tv and saw they switched from CBS to the CW for football in my area. And I take it's windy? And Novak just can't adjust? How odd. It's always, always windy at the US Open.

Oh Mary, you frickin' idiot. The tennis season isn't over when the US Open is finished. The Grand Slams are over.
skyz, my cable company has gotten rid of the CW here--I'd be soooooo pissed if I lost my opportunity to watch. And the wind has really died down. It's regular NY windy now, before it was super gusty windy (almost like Saturday again). And you're right, how has Djoker not adjusted to the wind? I would never have guessed he'd be a bad wind player. It makes now sense considering his game.

They got rid of the CW? I suppose it's not a loss if you didn't watch anything on it. And now that I've been watching I can see the wind picking up off and on.
I bet Novak wishes he'd played yesterday after the women's final.
And Novak takes the 3rd! I'm rooting for Andy for the most part. Hoping for more drunkenness from the Scots when they crash his presser.

So what the hell happened to Murray? He led two sets to none, lost the third easily and was just broken in the first game of the 4th set. I watched a little bit of the streaming but it was choppy so I stopped. Murray seemed to be completely lost. WTH?

I will not be able to handle Djoker winning another Open after being two sets down. . .
I just got addicted to Hart of Dixie and was catching up on reruns during the summer. But my bigger issue is that they got rid of Antenna TV (both are owned by the Tribune Co.) and I had loads of shows that I was watching on there (and they messed up my archiving of all the WKRP episodes--and I made it all the way to the last season!).
I really, really don't like Novak right now and I hate that the crowd is so rooting for him because he feeds on that sort of adulation. C'mon Andy! Buck up! James Bond wants you to win!
jimena, believe it or not, the commentators aren't wrong (or at least I agree with them). Djoker couldn't deal with the wind and for the first two sets he seemed to be pissed off that it dared to be so windy. Until he accepted that these were the conditions, he wasn't playing the right way. Not that Andy wasn't playing great, because he was. But he did get too conservative when he was up two sets and Djoker went more on the offensive and played better. And it isn't helping that the crowd is rooting so hard for Novak.
There were loads and loads of breaks in the first two sets. It's just that now Andy isn't doing any of the breaking anymore and Novak still is.
I take back what I just said about the commentators--I CANNOT BELIEVE they think it is wrong to call Djoker on taking too long between points! He does and the chair ump called him on it. I understand Novak being upset with the chair ump but the commentators are supposed to at least pretend they are impartial!
Now I'm ranting: Mary is actually offended that the crowd isn't 100% rooting for Djoker. Guess what Mary, maybe we don't all want the guy you want to win to win.
