I've noticed a change in Venus' clothing line, ever since she decided to market it instead of using the tennis court as a catwalk. Two players, Johanna Konta and Jarmila Gajdosova, will be wearing her stuff. Also, I have this image of Serena swatting her arm if Vee touches her chicken.
It seemed fitting that midnight strikes and Baggy is there, now that Hewitt is out.
breezybee - no kidding with the yellow. This is probably why I'm so loving that dark blue Lacoste shirt right now, to counter the yellow.

I get a kick out of the idea of the All-Floppy-Guy first round match of La Monf v. Dolgop. IIRC I picked Monf.

My husband and I decided that Serena's opponent, Gallovits-Hall, sounds like a forbidden room in the Gryffindor dormitory at Hogwarts.
I can so see Hermione warning Ron and Harry not to go snooping about "Gallovits-Hall".

Thanks for the Venus article, lt, and good for her.
I just got home -- hope there are some good matches tonight, and some company here!

Hi, tiki -- I'm up and watching on a bit of a DVR-delay. I'm currently early in the Delpo match.

I have this really bad habit of falling asleep on the couch for a few hours and then not being able to go to bed. Last night made it all worthwhile because I was awake when Roger had the longest, chattiest talk with Chris M/Chris E/PMac. Nothing earth-shattering but he was so comfy and nice to listen to. I did really enjoy his story about meeting Pelé during his South American tour and how when he heard Pelé wasn't coming in to the city Roger told everyone he'd go to wherever Pelé was--he's a big fan. (Turned out Pelé was only two blocks from Roger's hotel). And then Pelé gave him a jersey and kept showing Roger pictures to prove it was from the match--Roger kept telling him he didn't need to prove it to him, he believed him. Also a big "hee" to Roger's girls not being so into tennis (yet)--they always drag their racquets along the ground.
I was thinking of staying awake for Monfils/Dolgo but since that wasn't even going to start until about 3am I thought I was in enough trouble. Did anyone get to see it?

I saw the last set of the Monfils/Dolgopolov match this morning. Monfils was playing really well. I felt bad for Dolgopolov though. It never seems fair when someone has to play a match against another player who only has a low ranking due to injury.

Was thinking about Hewitt's situation when I came to the sad realization that, no matter what his ranking is, Tommy Haas will likely never make a deep run at a Slam in this comeback. He can pile up the best-of-3 matches but he's destined to be stuck in matches like yesterday's... and mess it up. Same thing happened to him at Wimbledon (brushed that one off due to Kohlschreiber) and the US Open (not so much if it's Gulbis; a big match player like him should have tried to qualify for AO) last year.

Sorry, harry! I am here again, and hopefully won't fall asleep in front of the TV again. At least not quite yet. ETA just in case, I will actually be in Chicago on Tuesday, January 22nd. Anyone want to join me and oops

What a sad way to end the match for Brian Baker. He didn't even look like he had any weight on that right leg, and suddenly he was completely hobbled.

How does Stosur appear to be in better shape every time I see her? It's amazing. And quite the opposite of many others on the women's side. I was going to name names, but I didn't want to seem ugly and judgmental (at least not more than usual). I think Stosur could bench-press Nadal!

I feel awful for Baker too, fala I hope it is much better thn it looked. Madison Keys looked great vs Paszek, who seems to be closest thing we have to grass specialist. My days as a night owl are long gone, but have recorded the overnight matches and hope some good ones will happen while I sleep

Sweet dreams, francie!
Is the general consensus that Djokovic will take the men's title and Serena the women's? I apologize for stupid questions, but I am totally out of the loop.
I forgot to mention earlier that I only saw a bit of the match, but Sloane Stephens looked great. I am rooting for her.
