Well, I wouldn't exactly call it Djok "escaping". Thing is, he really is that good. Even against Nadal, even on clay, this way always a pick-em, and 5 sets to be expected. At least in my mind. Rafa was serving, two points away from winning, when Novak made the charge. That's the escape.

When (if) I make it to the gym at lunch today I think I'll bring two sets of headphones--one to keep the TV on (you need to be plugged in for the TV to work) and one to listen to Radio Roland Garros. That way, no John/Mary/Ted!

Yes, I see your point indeed moon. I guess my mindset has been so firmly expecting a 5 set, long, long match that my reaction was kinda like .... Of course he did, and so would Nadal have if it had been the other way. These guys are ridiculous, and I don't mean that in an insulting way.

Imagine if this match had been decided by that tweener!

Did anyone catch what Djokovic was complaining to the ref about?
ETA: Okay, I got it. That the court was slippery. I didn't realize that they wouldn't water it in a long fifth set.
Congratulations to Rafa. I honestly don't know how the hell he did it.
Go JWT! I mean, I love Ferrer, but a Rafa-Ferrer final would be horrifying.

Ahhhh, I lost my stream! Now I'm listening to Radio Roland Garros and frickin' Rafa just won. DAMN!!!!!!
According to Radio Roland Garros there is something wrong with the clay at the back of the court.

Novak wanted the court watered again... the second argument (well, the monologue) ultimately cost Novak the match.

My condolences Jer. But your guy played a hell, a HELL of a match, and pushed Nadal at "home" more than I think anyone else could have. A lot more. I know, that wouldn't have soothed me much when Fed lost a big match in a major, but it's the best I can do.
Speaking of Fed: Well I don't have the agony and (mostly) the ecstasy of seeing him play as much, but in a way that allows me to just focus on and enjoy the tennis more completely. It's not that I don't ever want someone to win, but it's all on a calmer level, as I say, more just purely about the tennis. Mighty high quality tennis, I can't hate that.

Jelena Gencic, Nole's first coach, died?

Yeah, she died about a week ago. His team found out before the Dimitrov match but kept it from Novak until after he won.

I'm in the minority here but I'm thrilled for Rafa. Roger has his legacy firmly in place so I'd love for Rafa to have the FO record outright.
Djoker played one hell of a match, though.

At least Jo is in the 2nd set, it was looking kinda dismal for awhile. Tough act to follow the 1st semi, but I still want to see competitive tennis. And as happy as I'd be for David to make his 1st final, the actual match wouldn't be anything I'd be looking forward to. Nadal just flat out owns him.
Oh, and I'm happy for Nadal, I love the guy - but you're right, I don't find it thrilling. Just to be expected, what's new, etc.

That first semi is pretty much making Jo look worse. David is retrieving at the level of Nadal and Djokovic but Tsonga isn't really up to that challenge - and really shouldn't be playing the match that way, either.
