I've been quiet around here since the Australian Open ended-- grad school tends to do that-- but I've jumped into both of the pools... wearing water wings, but still.
I'm hoping TTC or ESPN will show some of Guga's final match-- I was watching the repeat of the 2001 final against Magnus Norman yesterday and was reminded of how much I like the guy.
I'm not optimistic for Coria's chances against Robredo, but I can see the match being competitive... so long as Coria has made some headway on remembering how to serve. Has anyone been following his "comeback" to know what kind of form he's in?

Thanks for setting up the pools, guys. I'm in for both, but both my entries say "this entry is currently unlicensed and will not be ranked or scored. Please contact your administrator about purchasing more licenses." Any idea what's up with that?
I don't hold out much hope anyway, I've got all my favourites winning unless it's completely unimaginable that they would, and none of my faves are in the top 5 of either tour.

Tsonga dropped out of RG today, and it looks like he'll need knee surgery, which means he'll be out at least through Wimby.

I dont' know what they mean about the licensing. I searched high and low and could find no way to opt in or get more info. I sent them an email asking WTF.

Is anyone using the DirecTV online DVR scheduling? I'm hoping to use it to tape just some of the matches I want. I have 6 channels of French coverage and totally failed to take any time off work. Blarg.
Right now, I have the mix channel on and can see 5 matches at once. I fucking LOVE DirecTV.
Gremelmayr got my hopes up by taking that first set off Djok-Itch. A first round loss would thrilled me. Now he's serving for the set.
Ted Robinson shoots sunshine out of his butt.

Goodbye Guga...there were some flashes of Guga-brilliance mixed in there. Smiling right until the end, even through tears...the way it should be. And the way he should be remembered. ;D
And I, too, love DirecTv. Coverage of 5 different courts...gotta love it.

Goodbye Guga. I teared up after the match when he was tearing up.
Ted Robinson is already bugging. He was acting like in his prime that Guga always had really long matches. Ummm....no. Guga was known for his aggressive clay court play.

I'm making brownies and a vegetable tray for today's cookout. It's so beautiful out today. However, I'd rather be in Paris.
I'm watching Moya in the fifth set after having lost the first two. Yikes. I do like Moya. The announcers talk about him as if he had an AARP card in his back pocket.
I listened to the Radio Roland Garros call of the Guga match. Much better than Sunshine Ted. Gah. He always sounds so surprised about everything. He's like a big quivering tennis cheerleader. Ugh.
Oh, I just noticed that the tennis mix channel changed to ESPN2 at noon for the box in the upper left corner. Sweet.
Perhaps I can come down with a wicked case of ebola and take a few days off this week.
Oooo, Murray is also in a 5 setter.

Oh my...Schwank. Talk about bad luck. Got the break and was about to serve for the match, but he got a horrible cramp when he hit the winner for the break. Who knows what will happen now. Will his leg hold up....doesn't look good.
ETA: That was all heart right there. Served it out at love. Good to see, even though I like Carlos.

The French kid who took Murray to the fifth set looks like he could be impressive. But he looks older than he is - I was shocked to hear he is a baby.
Schwank was also impressive. He kinda looks like a chubby Nico Lapenti. Sad to see Carlos lose, but Eduardo played well.
Another tennis commentator gripe. Enberg talking about how Vaidasova was upset...but did not say to who she lost. Aargh.

I really like Serena's outfit. I think it's the best thing she's ever worn on a tennis court. It's especially nice compared to that hideous Adidas bubble skirt Harkleroad is wearing. Vaidisova is in a deep slump, losing her last 6 matches! I looked around for some news to see what's up with her and found this article. She recently dumped her stepfather/coach and apparently, Stepanek keeps her happy.

Can someone gag Dick Enberg? Please? Pretty please with sugar on top? Someone slip Mary a 20. I know she wants to gag him.
He kept saying Harkleford until some corrected him. He just babbles on and ignores the VERY interesting commentary from the women.
I hate the cloth belt on Serena's outfit. The rest is fantastic. It would be perfect if the bottom 3" of the shirt were that darker color instead of that belt thing.
Harkleroad doing Playboy? Interesting indeed.
Bubble skirts are a blight on the court.
ETA: Tipsarevic got owned in the third set. Going into the fourth. And of course I have to leave.

I would never get up early enough to watch the French Open live in the morning, but I still wish I had the tennis channel. Oh well, at least with ESPN I get to listen Chris Fowler.
Guga is my favorite player ever and I love that he got to say goodbye.

Ha HA. When I first (mis)read this, I thought you meant that Serena's SKIRT (or the final 3") consisisted of a belt. And I sort of pictured her wearing a giant gladiator style belt around her ass, and actually mentally shrugged, "That's Serena." I'm very disappointed to learn that my reading skills are so poor today. My imaginary outfit kind of rocked. And no, I'm not hungover at all. Why do you ask?
