British number one Andy Murray will meet Australian wildcard Robert Smeets [EDIT: Maybe he doesn't. Thanks fake draw.]
That's all i've got so far
Haha, there seems to have been some confusion over a fake draw, one that came out with Fish/Federer and Fererro/Safin. Chaos!

Tennischannel.com has brackets up again, but with a new option... Create a Private Pool Do you have some friends you want to compete against? Create your own private pool, and you and your friends can see how you stack up against each other. Don't worry, you can still compete in the main pool too! Anyone interested??? ETA: Coria plays Robredo in the first round. Not the kind of first round I was hoping for, but would be a great win for him if he could somehow pull if off.

Whoopsie daisy! I'm moving the following words over from the "Part 4" thread, because I didn't initially see this one:
So there was some crazy ineptitude going on with the draw coverage this morning; people following "live" on the rolandgarros.com site (it was really just a screen with the draw filling in names one at a time) were treated to, wait for it, INCORRECT draws which differed greatly from the, like, actual ones. Then there was a big one-hour controversy about which ones were the "right" ones. They had to issue an apology on their site.
What sucks is: the men's draw that I "saw" "live" is SO much more preferable to me than the actual-and-for-real one. I was getting so excited for first round matchups that will never be. I still can't find it in my disappointed heart to close out of the window that has the "fake" draw on it. I should take a screen shot for posterity...
I'm right there with ya, ilsa. What sucks even worse is that in the original/fake draw, he was slated to play Boris Pashansky!
ETA: and I'm totally up for any kind of pool. (except, possibly, cess).

That sounds like fun, i'd be up for kicking everyone's ass with my choices You want to make it, Ilsa? I have to admit after reading about Robredo and his jerkiness last week or so, i'm pulling for Coria. I've missed his sourpuss face over the last.. few years i think it is now? (I want to fill in my brackets choices NOOOOOOW, but i guess i should wait until the qualifiers are set. *stamps foot*) So it was the actual official site that was giving out the fake draw? How the hell does that happen, was their updater drunk?

I'm gonna do a run through on the TWOP thread again, PM a few people, maybe some have forgotten or missed it the first time. So don't be alarmed if you all get a PM there about the board. I'll just PM without checking names.

What a confusing morning!
I'll be away for couple of days but I'm up for participating in a bracket pool.
I loved having the direct tv all court access channels last year but it made it really hard to leave the house. And needless to say my kids didn't appreciate that!

I'll skip the bracket. Not that I don't think it'll be oodles of fun, but I feel like I'll curse my favorites. It's not that I suffer from raging bracket paranoia, my bracket does effect the final outcome of everything.
I checked out the men's. It seemed remarkably fair and balanced. A couple of times I've seen brackets that seem so incredibly heavy on one side. Not so this time.
I do have some excitement for the first round.

Well, there's guaranteed to be an American man in the 2nd round (Donald Young USA v Robby Ginepri USA)! Fed's quarter looks much tougher than the other three quarters. Djokovic has the easiest quarter by far; Moya is the only player who can trouble him, so I think he's going to sail into the semifinal against Nadal.
The women's draw looks perfectly setup to have a Russian player in the final; Venus/Jankovic and Serena/Ivanovic are both in the bottom half.

I posted my thoughts on the draw in the other thread but I've included them here too. So the Williamses and the Serbs in one half, and Pova and all the Russians she owns in the other. How not surprising. I think Pova will actually make the damn final, unless Kuzzie manages to maintain her brain and beat her in the semis, since she is the vastly superior clay-courter. She also likely will meet Dinara Safina in the fourth round. Prospective Serena-Ana and Venus-Jankovic quarterfinals. Venus-Janky is becoming the new Serena-Justine (which was the new Serena-JCap) surefire grand slam encounter. However a dangerous potential fourth-round match for Serena against Patty Schnyder. I haven't even looked at the men's draw yet, still processing the women... As for the men: First rounder between Fed and Querrey, maybe Sam can make that competitive based on his impressive run in Monte Carlo. Likely Fed-Ancic third rounder. I don't see anyone preventing Fed from making the quarters. Probable Fed-Davydenko semi. Ok I'm irritated that Djoko ended up in Rafa's half. Beat that kid down, Rafito! Actually I'd love it if Ice Cold Willy Canas scored the upset over Beaker in the third round (I can dream.) And Nadal will have his hands full if he meets Fat Daveed in the quarters On paper Rafa has a challenging draw (though what is really a challenging draw for Rafa in Paris?) and Djokobitch has a very easy one, like last year when he made it to the semis without beating anyone in the top 50. I'm still not convinced that Djoko has the patience and the red dirt prowess to handle the really great clay players (I think he just brings his hardcourt game to clay) and unfortunately he's not going to be tested much here Whooo! Much to ponder...

For the women's, I would be very pleased if the unexpected Russian (Safina) came out of the top quarter. The bottom two quarters seem pretty loaded.
For the men's , I don't see anyone in Nole's quarter that will prevent him from sailing through. I was hoping that at least someone like Almagro would be in his section to give him a test but nope- nada. Maybe if Tispy can be consistent there could be a battle but Tipsy is such a one up one down player that I don't have much hope.
The other three quarters are pretty interesting. Federer has some potentially tough customers with Seppi, Andreev and Monaco in his section. I think that the Starace/Andreev match could be one of the best of the first round.
I really, really hope that Ferru has his stuff sorted out because if they play to their potential a Ferry/Davydenko quarterfinal could be really, really good. I would be thrilled though beyond all get out if Coria made some strides in that quarter- but I worry with his serve it may be one match at the most- but that would be a big upset so I would be thrilled with that.
In the last quarter- I will be curious to see which Nalbandian will show up. I hope Almagro's wrist is completely healed. I just think he is really one of those players who is so talented and yet is so brain-farty that I hope he is able to continue his success of earlier this year. (Until of course the quarters because I want Rafa to get out of this section.)
For the home country, I will be curious to see if the coaching switch has halted Ree-shard's free-fall. Tsonga had to pull out of Casablanca with a knee problem (sigh....again an injury) and is a question mark for the French Open). I wonder if Cornet will be able to continue with the buzz she has been carrying . I hope that there is no crying in her matches this time though.

Yup, it was the actual official rolandgarros.com site that livestreamed the fakery. I don't know if it's OK to post a large image here, but I did take a screenshot of it.
Heh - people were saying the same thing about Blake/Isner in the first/fake draw! I know - I need to let go. *sigh*
Thanks for setting up and staffing the pool, ilsa! I'm gonna wait to make my picks until the qualies are more played out, depending on the deadline (I haven't looked yet).
Lastly, here's some actual point-by-point French coverage: Scoville Jenkins won the final point and beat former round-of-16er Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo 9-7 in the third set at qualies this morning!
Also, 4th-seeded and recently-hot Evgeny Korolev is knotted up at 6-all in the third against French favorite Jean-Rene Lisnard. You all should check out their purdy scoreboard!

I think the deadline is in about 1day, 9 hours, something like that. I'm waiting for a few of the qualifiers to come through too.
