Whoo-hoo!
Despite Rafa and Li Na's absences I'm still pretty psyched this year. I'm rooting for Keys, Kvitova, Halep, Stosur, Stephens and Townsend (good luck there, Taylor!) among the ladies and, as always, Roger above all in the men, but also for Wawrinka and Tsonga on the men.
I fully expect Djokovic to return to form in a big way over the next few weeks.

I feel like there are a lot of possibilities this year. nobody is dominant, and everyone has shown weaknesses.
I'm rooting for a Federer/Raonic men's final and I'm cautiously optimistic that Venus will at least make it to the second week. I want Serena to salvage her year and get past 17, but there are also so many other women to root for. I feel like two of my sentimental favorites (Nadal and Li) being out of it kind of frees things up.
There's a lot to see, but infortunately work will probably cause me to miss the first 2 days at least.

I immediately recognized her. But I can't figure out why she's being honored at this particular moment. I checked Wikipedia, and it doesn't seem like 2014 is an obvious anniversary. Am I missing something?

Today, the first day of the USO, would have been her 87th birthday.

Ah, so that's it. I was looking for a 50th or 60th anniversary of a championship or something along those lines. Thanks for enlightening me, guru.
Also, guru, I assume since you use her picture as your avatar here that she is someone you particularly admire. If you feel like sharing, I'd love to hear more about your feelings about her and why she (presumably) has special meaning for you.

Colette is sporting a sharp new hairdo this year.

Aw, Colette. I've missed her. What match was she doing?

She was working the Djokovic match last night.

How many years has Colette been at the Open now?
I assume that the outfit Kirilenko was wearing last night was Stella's creation? Not a fan. Can't stand the ruffle and that weird section of different color that ends up looking like it is soaked in sweat.
I do like the dress that Venus Williams is wearing. She has really developed as a designer over the past couple of years.

Once again I'm tuning in much more for you guys than the tennis itself!

How many years has Colette been at the Open now? I'm not sure, but I did a quick search. I first brought her up in 2010, and I suspect I must have seen her for at least 3 years or more before that. BTW, the whole thing seems much more creepy when you see all of those posts listed one right after the other. I don't care though. It's still fun.

I like Serena's Flintstones dress, though it would look better without all the raspberry accents, including headband. She looks pretty amazing. I haven't kept up with tennis enough to guess who has a shot at winning the whole thing.

I think the dress suits Serena. Not a fan of the black shoes though. There are some seriously ugly outfits this year. I give you Jankovic
