Ahaha, i know right. Andy Roddick was on earlier, come through very easily. Ferrero/Grosjean before that, Grosjean retired after losing the first set.

I hate this bullshit on-court coaching. I've said it before, but I can't say it enough. Caroline Wozniacki is ahead 4-1 in the third set right now in Eastbourne against Sam Stosur, and she calls for her coach?? Listen Caroline, I love you, but you're winning and you're concerned you can't keep it together without help from your coach? Meanwhile Sam is sitting in her chair all be herself trying to figure out what she needs to do. It's just not good enough. Everyone who feels the need to use a coach when they're winning should be forced to wear a diaper for their next three matches so that they will look like the big, dependent baby that they are. Get it together.

Don't hold back, 'clese: tell us how you really feel.
Seriously, I'm torn about on-court coaching myself. Your points are valid, but I also wonder if Safina would have benefited from some coaching during the French Open final. Maybe if her coach could have calmed her down, she wouldn't have self-destructed so badly.
I think the idea that the coaching should be recorded and broadcast is complete bullshit, though. I remember Davenport railed against that by pointing out that she didn't want her opponents to know what she was thinking on court.

As much as I like Safina, if she can't deliver the goods without having her hand held by her coach, she deserves to get blown off the court. Believe me, I don't relish the thought of that happening, but I just feel that's the way things should be.

Coaching in a slam final would be something that would make me want to turn off the TV.
I want it to stopas well. It is stupid. Tennis is between two players, not the players AND their coaches. When a player steps out on court, it can't be between anyone else but them.

Wait the women aren't thinking of that are they? That would make me scream. The nice thing for me about Roger winning the French - well one of many nice things - was that I got to see him go all the way to the title without having to watch/hear Hawkeye even once, and I think coaching would be even worse for the game. Tennis is in enough trouble with the casual sports fan.

If they brought in on court coaching for the slams, i'd never watch a women's match again. I'm not even going to start on all the ways i hate it and the women for allowing themselves to be so weak, and how it reflects on the women's game..
Oh god, see, i'm off already. Leaving topic!

HAHA I love you admin. I totally agree. It REALLY takes away from the sport.
Do the WIlliams ever use on court coaching? I haven't ever see it happen. If they don't I think I'll respect them all that more.

They use notes, which I think are just as silly as on court coaching. Use what's in your brain!

I disagree about the notes. I think they're sensible and show some self-reliance. On-court coaching OTOH is just pitiful.

Yeah, i think of it as notes are just like organising your thoughts out. Like practicing a speech, or writing out a shopping list to avoid buying things you don't need.

I don't mind the notes either.
But are players then allowed to wear earphones on court? Could they not put their coache's words onto that?
