I wouldn't stake my life on it but I'm sure I remember a time a few years ago when a player (maybe Murray) had to prove to the referee that the mp3 player they took on court had only music on it.

Same old boring story with Federer's match. Opponent does well for 90% of the set, blows it away at 5-4 or 6-5, then capitulates in the next set. I hate Federer. Did you know?

I hate that Channel Nine has the rights to the two main arena matches and yet their coverage doesn't start for another hour. It is hardly ever live. And on Fox 3, they have the Blake match.

I hate Federer. Did you know? Really??!?! Since when? I must say, I'd prefer to see a little more fight too. It's almost like he puts some sort of weird voodoo whammajamma on them during the coin toss, and it just takes it a while to take effect.

Since I mentioned it in the Wimbledon thread, I thought I'd go more into it here. I HATE FEDERER'S STUPID OUTFIT.
A neo-fascist jacket AND a vest? Really? Why not just wear a sign that says "I'm a jackass?" And I LOVE Federer but his goofy clothes annoy me to no end. I know he's "friends" with Anna Wintour, but even she can steer you wrong. Just wear a warm up suit. That would be showing true style because wearing a costume just begs for attention and looks ridiculous.
The jacket/vest combo isn't quite in the Serena pro-wrestler, faux-leather jacket and knee high spats costume from the USO a few years ago, but why even get that close? Why beg people to laugh at you and call you a douchebag?

That shows how much you know. Neo-fascism is the new black this season. Fed's on the cutting edge. Next year he's coming to Wimbledon dressed as Charlie Chaplin, complete with the paintbrush moustache, cane and bowler hat (all in white for Wimbledon of course).

You'd be a fan for life if he walked onto the court in the Chaplin-esque manner--twirling the cane and everything.

Fro a number of years now, when certain people (Roddick) win and have to face Federer in the draw, I've been hoping that he comes out on the court and does the throat swipe from Bloodsport.

Ahh suck it Roger. Beer bitter face strikes again as he strikes out on a obvious in call.

Well, it's time for some more hating on NBC:
Gee, thanks guys, I much prefered watching a tape-delayed Serena Williams blowout over any of the numerous closer matches being played live.
Jesus fucking Christ. It's almost impossible to articulate how much NBC's tennis coverage blows. Remember at the French when they didn't even freaking air Federer's semi, instead deciding to show Gonzalez-Soderling on tape delay? Thankfully the Canadian network was using an international feed for that instead, so I got to see it, but nope, it's back to the American networks for Wimbledon. It's 2009, YOU CANNOT SHOW SPORTS ON FUCKING TAPE DELAY ANYMORE!!!!!!!
BTW, their hockey coverage blows too. So that's my two favourite sports they get to ruin, but being in Canada I at least usually get a different option for hockey (except when the cheap-asses at TSN just latch onto their coverage rather than using their own guys). NBC just shouldn't be allowed to show sports.

You know, the ATP/WTA/ITF should just break their contract with NBC. Really, they are the 4th place network and if showing soaps is more important to them than showing a Slam semi once or twice a year, then they should show the soaps. I bet there's a free or cheap channel that would take on the the responsibility (*not* Fox sports though). I envy you people in the UK for your BBC coverage, it sounds so much more professional, even though I have no idea why they hired Tracy Austin.

What I don't understand is why NBC feels the need to broadcast during the week, anyway? They used to just broadcast the weekend coverage. Can't interfere with the 15 hours of the Today show, can't interfere with their soap operas, so they'll slip a pathetic three hours of coverage, all tape-delayed while pretending it's "live" so they don't go past their window.
Even worse, they seem to be embargoing ESPN from broadcasting their first three hours of subsequent coverage on the west coast. So not only are we stuck with NBC's crap coverage, we can't even watch all of ESPN's coverage because it overlaps with NBC on the west coast and no self-respecting sports fan would watch that crap over live ESPN coverage.
And ESPN isn't all that awesome, either. First, they cut away from the Federer/Soderling match to show Serena/Hantuchova in all it's Sominex glory, so we missed the end of the first set and only got the last few games and tiebreaks for the second and third sets. And then, in their total headscratching foolishness actually thought what we really, really, really wanted to see was Venus' boring as all get out press conference while watching Serena boringly beat Hantuchova. Like, we're all supposed to sit up like eager puppies because it's a Williams sister. But it isn't 1999 anymore. All Williams, All the Time, isn't what tennis is about. No matter what Venus or Serena say.
But if Tracy's with the BBC, now, I'm happy. Can't they take Bud Damn Collins, too?

I agree with all the NBC hate. I am not even going to tape their coverage now that I can get the BBC coverage for most matches online.
