And I cannot even figure out why. I looked at the schedule and there isn't anything special there. Strange, very strange. I can't get ESPN.360 at home or work (Cablevision sucks the life out of everything [home] and I have no idea what the ISP is at work but we cannot get 360 there). All the streaming sites are shutting down matches--seems like everything has to be paid for--but admin is right, atdhe is working right now--well, one of the three links is anyway. YEAH!). I guess I'll have to see if the ATP-sponsored stream allows Macs yet. (Oh, and live scores isn't working for me either--I'm relying on progress of matches but that isn't a lot of fun to watch.)
Just like all of you, Amelie broke my bracket and, oh my, that picture of Gulbis is quite impressive in its cheesiness. And, sadly, I had to agree with a Gilbert statement yesterday when he said that Feli has been playing like shit. 'Cause he has, and he's now down a set and a break in the second.

Sharapova is wearing various shades of dark blue, I'm not sure how I feel about it.
And Nadal has totally jacked my fave color palate, I love saturated colors with charcoal or slate bottoms.

Yeah, i was fully expecting to hate Nadal's outfit but lord help me, i quite like it. I'm not a fan of pink but i think he's wearing it well.
Stan came through in the end. He was well down, so i'm a little surprised. But good!

I've seen Rafa a pink polo several times. Before Nike started doing post match jackets and off court stuff, Rafa wore a Nike t-shirt, a pink polo or a brown striped polo during all his off court stuff. It was to the point I wondered if he had other clothes.  I am loving the pink of his shirt with the dark gray shorts. It's such a bright abrasive pink. No pastels for him. The head/wrist bands though. The same yellow as the ball. I'm not liking that. Not in the least. I think Rafa should wear collarless shirts though. I think the polos make him look a little too young. I don't think Uncle Toni can be blamed for the combo. He wears the same three shirts as well. Let's blame Carlos Costa. And his delicious thighs. PS. The yellow is growing on me. |

I had such a busy year that tennis kind of fell by the wayside after the AO. It's weird for me to basically have no idea how all the players have been doing going into the French.
That picture of Gulbis killed me. I saw it the other day when I went to check his ranking history. He's not that young anymore. I wonder if he's ever going to break through to the top 20.

Hey tiki! Great to see you again.
I am so rooting for Safina to win this. Her wins in Rome and Madrid will bode her well. I was worried that she would crumble after the crap that was directed at her for being not the "real" number one and after a couple of stumble she has come out swinging.
If she does not win I am rooting for Sveta or Dementiava. It is a shame that Vera is out because she could have made a strong run here.
I don't think Nadal's win is written in stone. Roger gained some great confidence with Madrid and in that match- he also had a good game plan. Also Nole has been giving Rafa fits. And not that he will make it to the final- his game does not match up well to Nole or Roger- but if JMdP for some reason made it to the final- his game matches up very well to Rafa. Rafa's top spin does not bug Delpo the way it can others because Elf is so tall. Also- Delpo's groundstokes push Rafa back- which Nadal does not like. But I don't think Delpo will make it to the final so that is a moot point.
I also think think if Verdasco can keep his head he could give Rafa a big scare. The lefty factor is negated and also Nando can push Rafa back. Also if Gonzo gets through the bottom (I haven't seen him play yet but he could beat Murray if his game and fitness is on) he has a game that can trouble Rafa.
I kind of feel that Rafa's game in clay has dipped a bit as he has focused on making his game more well rounded. As that has happened he may not do as many things that made his game so effective on clay but were not conducive to hard court success. And Rafa did not look good in the first set against Daniel. That stated- in the second set he started to show some strong play.

Petrova/Sharapova should be an interesting match. At one point Shrieky got bitchy with the crowd. She makes people dislike her.
Yeah..and tiki, ditch baseball and JOIN US. Hunt down some photos of Romain Jouan, who apparently was denied entrance into the qualies. Then when Isner pulled out, they called him and offered him a wild card. Got the call while in the supermarket.
