French Open '09: Point by point coverage

I was too nervous to watch the final live, but I'm so happy for Roger. Like falafaclese, I hope this win will allow him to relax and find the beautiful game I've missed seeing since 2007.

A few thoughts:

1) Mirka looks absolutely GORGEOUS, the best I've ever seen her. I guess pregnancy and marriage agree with her.

2) Once the baby's born, who's going to travel and take care of Roger?

3) Anyone notice in the USPS commercial for flat rate packages, the store guy on the left is a dead ringer for Sam Querry?

4) Call me crazy, but I think Dinara is going to be okay. She is absurdly lovable, isn't she?

5) I am praying for dear Rafa's knee. I hope our Spanish-speaking members will keep us up-to-date on any news regarding his health.

6) Another thank you to all of you on this board. You are absolutely hilarious and make tennis-watching even more fun.

You're welcome lt! It is a sweet facebook page. I'm a little surprised that it doesn't appear to be linked to his website though.

I do hope also that Roger will now be able to relax and play freely. It's so beautiful to watch his game, and I think the wins will follow.

And I hope we see Dinara win a big one soon. Maybe she just needed more experience.

And I also hope Rafa can play Wimbledon, I hope the knee will be okay.

so true harry! Even when I'm crazed with anxiety this board gets me through it. And it definitely makes the sport more fun to watch.

I have to admit though - it's kind of hitting me in a delayed kind of way -

I know. It really only hit me today. WHAT a great victory.

And I don't care what anyone says. All the top players came into this tournament. ALL OF THEM. They were all relatively healthy and they lost at some point. Roger stuck it out and won it. SO SO happy and proud as a fan.

I really want him to go on and win at the French. Play freely Roger. It will only hepl your game. I doubt he will dominate like he did during 04-07 but he can certianly win more majors and tournaments.

Woah, i've only just read about what happened in the final, with 'Jimmy Jump' intruder on the court and being able to manhandle Federer before anyone stopped him. Crazy stuff.

Don't go at the end--go at the beginning (you know, when I'll be there). I'm going Sunday (11/22) night, Monday (11/23) day and night and Tuesday (11/24) day. I love going to the beginning of tournaments. Just a weird thing with me.

Breezy, I don't know if you ever found out about Roger's father but according to the SI article, he had a virus and had to leave the stands. He ended up watching in a hotel room. Hope he isn't as superstitious as I am or he'll never get to see his son play in the stands again.

Thanks It! I didn't know that. This weekend I watched a biography on Roger and there were interviews with his Mom and Dad. Mr. Federer Sr. is just the sweetest man ever.
