I'm just a mean bitch, chesty, that's all.
Lopez/Muller is almost as painful to watch as it must be to play. Those poor bastards.

Hard to keep track of things on this outer court with Lopez and Muller. Between the single camera and the lack of a mike on the chair... basically relying on the score graphic.
ETA: Apparently there IS a mic, but I can't hear it.

I'm just a mean bitch, chesty, that's all. . I wasn't trying to imply that in any way shape or form. I just find it funny that you are disgusted by a lot of players that I am fond of- that's all. Differences of opinions do not mean that one is a bitch in my book. These guys can barely move.

I knew what you meant, chesty -- you're the last person who would imply that! But I am a bit of a bitch on occasion. I embrace it!
This match is getting worse and worse. It seems like the eventual winner of a contest like this always falls flat in the next match, too.

Oy! Bedtime. Happy tennis, folks!
Heh, Muller didn't give the interview that they wanted.

Heh. I think he looks like he was drawn by a cartoonist. I think he has a very nice face (as in he has the face of a sweet guy), but he's not a looker IMO. Nice bod, though.
That's all I got.

I'm glad that's over.
Some random thoughts: I finally saw Jankovic. The (muscle) weight she's put on makes her arms look stumpy. I'm thinking this is not going to help her game, as curly has already said.
Also, Baghdatis -- that haircut is not a good look. And why are people still talking about him as a dangerous player?
edited to say hi to harry.

Bagi seems to love the Australian atmosphere. Melbourne has the most amount of Greeks living in it, outside of Athens, so it is almost like he is playing at 'home'.
I just finished watching Jelena Dokic's match. Gosh the girl was streaky. She was playing fantastic tennis at the start of each set. At the end of the second at 3-3 she completely lost it and lost the set 3-6. Then in the final set she moved up 4-1 and barley won the match at 6-4. I am so happy that she has won, but as a fan it was SO frustrating.
Does anyone have any recent interviews of her about the shit she has been through these past few years? I really do admire her courage.
I also saw Ana play in the morning. Her serve's ball toss was wack and she could have played better but did end up winning in straight sets.
Tomic, the sixteen year old Ozzie (youngest male player to ever win a match at the Ozzie Open) also won in a thrilling contest.
Good day all round. I hope Roger really owns tonight.

What the hell is wrong with Roger Federer? He should have closed out that match much more easily.

Mmm he was happy with how he played. And he has been playing well. Credit to Sepi, the guy played a good match, especially in the second and third set.
Roger won comfortably though and I think is in good steed for the rest of the tournament.
Tonight's night session gave us a snipet of Jelena Dokic's post match interview from earlier today. The poor girl broke down in tears. I felt so bad for her. She has always been a favorite. It's soo great to see her playing for Australia, and seeming to be happy in her life. She cried when asked what winning this match meant to her. She said that it's a miracle that she is playing at all, with all of the personal stuff she has had to go through and that is what triggered the tears. You can see shes is hungry and tennis is her #1 priority. I honestly would LOVE a Capriati esque comeback (not at the 09 Ozzie Open, lets be real.) When she was playing well today, shades of teen Jelena were there and it was a joy to watch.

Mpol I have a soft spot for Dokic too. In a sport filled with crazy parents, it takes a lot to have one that is memorable. I wish her lots of luck going forward. And oops I'm wondering what is going on with Paszek as well. I know that she was being coached by Pasos, parted ways with him, (possibly b/c of friction with her dad) returned to him and is know back on the coaching carousel. I hope she and Melanie South of the UK take their bodies to the next level, so their game isn't handicapped before the match starts. Opening day of a tournament is so much fun. But I can't stay up past 11:00ish so I have the tough decision of picking a match to Tivo Last night I did well with the Starace/Tomic match. And another sad first day for American men. I thought that both Querrey and Ginepri had a chance but they both made very quiet exits.

Anyone see Kimiko Date's match? I didn't even know that she had qualified, but she pushed Kanepi to 8-6 in the third set. It's amazing to me that she can be so competitive after 12 years of retirement. Date had the most awkward forehand ever, and I remember the commentators saying that she was left-handed, but her coaches made her play right-handed.

I'll be 35 in the spring so I love seeing women older than me holding their own. The switching from left to right seems so draconian....

Okay. I'll be the first to say it. What the HELL was Ivanovic wearing? I was flipping to her match during the breaks of the football game.
Even ApocaDad who was with me said, "What's wrong with her boobs?" That seam under the one breast made her look all north/south. The blousing at the waist made her look fat. And we all know she's not. And the color. My God. The color! Could she have picked anything that would look worse against the color of the courts? Someone should shoot her stylist.
As to the actual tennis, I watched on AO Mix Channel. 5 matches at once, but hard to follow. Djokovic was down 4-0 in the third set at one point. I started paying attention to another match. Next thing I know he's shirtless and celebrating. Gah!
Being in the Eastern time zone, I'll get to see some of the early matches, but none of the later.

I'm watching the replay of Federer/Seppi. It looks to me like Federer is doing his usual thing -- using early round matches to find his touch. He looks all right to me. Also, I like the new outfit and shorter hair.
I fell asleep last night during the late show -- I may try to get a nap late this afternoon and see if I can watch any of the late broadcast, but even in the mountain time zone, it's difficult.
