Forgive me Peyton and the Colts. For one night only I was rooting for the Patriots. Take that Philip Rivers!!!! *does lights out dance, badly*
GIANTS!!!!!!! I can't believe they did it. I am so happy for them. I didn't think they could do it, I was just hoping they wouldn't get blown out and that Eli would have a good game.
I have no hope for the Giants beating the Patriots, but WTG for them coming so far this season.
And for just a little more smugness: Hahaha, Tiki!!!!

Oh, laurgan, smugness earned! The Eagles were so bad, I had no hope for this season anyway. I'm just waiting for baseball...just got my spring training tickets, two games in early March in Tucson, just a couple rows behind the White Sox dugout. Yay!

Not being American, so only having the luxury of watching football with no real loyalties (except that Tom Brady's head is monstrously large and square), what's wrong with the Pats? Is it the "you win too much" syndrome?

Personally, I have never liked the Pats. Just recently it has turned to full on hate thanks to Tom Brady and Randy Moss, both of whom I cannot stand. Plus their coach is a major asshole. Anywho, I'm a Packers fan But I'll still root for The Giants over The Pats.

I love my Giants but since the Packers are my 2nd favorite team I was just a tiny bit torn this past Sunday. I really do love Brett Favre and would have been very happy to have him go back to the Superbowl but since I cheered really loudly when Webster got that interception in OT (and I NEVER would cheer for Favre throwing an INT) I guess my subconscious was not as conflicted as my conscious was.
Strangely enough, I think the only football fans (who aren't Patriot fans) who don't hate Belichick are Giants fans. He was a remarkable defensive coordinator for us (what he did with Lawrence was brilliance) and I could never dislike him.
TikiGirl, I cannot believe an Eagles fan would root for the Giants! But, then again, I grew up in South Jersey as a Giants fan so my feelings about the Eagles are very (very) strong.
I love how many people are rooting for the Giants in the Superbowl because 1) they are not the Patriots, 2) they are not the Cowboys 3) they are the underdog.

To be honest, lt, I hate the Giants normally. But my anti-Patriots feeling is much stronger (and I grew up in Maine!). I don't think I'll even bother to watch the Super Bowl, though. I'm more of a baseball fan anyway; I like football, but more importantly, it fills in that terrible, cold, dead time between the World Series and spring training.

I'll get this out of the way (over a week late): yeah Giants! Happy, happy.
Now, I was reading some posters over at ESPN regarding the fiasco that was the Rutgers/Tennessee women's basketball game last night and I have to say--there are some really strange people out there. So very nasty to complete strangers. I'm afraid I just don't get it. And I feel no better about the game either. Oh well.

So it's spring training; the baseball season is almost upon us. I caught a couple White Sox games in Tucson, against the D'backs and the Giants. Any other baseball fans here? If not, I'll shut up about it!
(P.S. congratulations, lt!)

Glad to see that people were anit-Patriots here, though of course I'm only discovering this months later!
Very happy that baseball is back, since it's sometimes the first sign of Spring in freakin-frigid Chicago. And glad that we have some White Sox fans around the country, tiki!!!

Hi, tiki -- Sorry to take so long to reply. I've never checked this thread before. I'm a re-minted baseball fan. Although I grew up in Washington, D.C. (although not old enough to remember the Senators) with a Yankee-hating mother, and was a rabid Baltimore Orioles fan in my young adulthood (Eddie Murray was one of my first sports idols), and fell out of love with the sport for a number of years, I am now a full-fledged Yankee fan, mostly because so many of the guys on the team are such sweethearts. I'm missing Joe Torre terribly, though. He's such a great guy.
Are you a Chicagoan by birth or did you come by your White Sox fandom via some other route?

Hi, harry! I'm from Maine originally, and I'm sure my poor Red Sox fan (and former minor league pitcher) grandfather is spinning in his grave over my choice of team. I ended up a White Sox fan by accident -- my boyfriend and I were attending Purdue, and he was always watching the ChiSox, just because he loves all baseball (another ex-player -- is this a pattern?). So I started paying attention to baseball again for the first time in years, and just fell in love with the Sox.
For me, one of the funniest things about being a female baseball fan is that a few guys have asked me, "Why are you so into baseball?" As if I couldn't have the same reasons as them. So I reply, "Hot men in tight pants. Why are you into baseball?" HA!
Sadly, I dislike the Yankees, harry. But oddly, I lived outside D.C. for about four years when I was a kid (Gaithersburg, MD).

Okay, so...anyone into the baseball playoffs other than me and oops?
GO WHITE SOX! Te amo, Ozzie! And Bobby J is my baseball boyfriend, and Juan Uribe is my inexplicable crush.

HA! There is not one thing I do not know about these playoffs but, well, I have to. So stressful for me this year though--I'm not used to my Brewers getting to this point and they are just doing so poorly. I'm going to the game on Saturday and I'm really (really) hoping I won't be witnessing a sweep.
As White Sox fans did you, Tiki or you, Oops catch Obama on Mike & Mike this morning? He was brilliant. I loved that he joked about stopping the campaign for the week of the WS if both Chicago teams make it in.

Good luck, lt. The White Sox aren't putting on a good show so far either. I didn't catch Mike & Mike, unfortunately; I'm sure I would have loved it.
Now I have a stupid freaking job interview this afternoon that starts at the SAME TIME as the White Sox game. I should blow off the interview and remain a poor freelancer so I can watch the game.
