Thanks, lt. I was worried that I had gotten a bit strident and/or offense. It's just fucking sports! That said, go, White Sox!

I would be totally enjoying the Olympics right now, except who can stop thinking of the Georgian luger Kumaritashvili? I have a really good friend from Georgia (who's also a huge tennis fan) and he says they are just devastated. It's horrible, and I send a wicked big dose of Haterade to all the networks who aired footage of the death.
I am happy about Bode's downhill bronze, though. Come to mama, you wild New England iconoclast. (Also, harry, take note: he used the word minutiae in an interview. Hee, words are fun!)

It's ultra-gay of me, but the only winter olympic sport that I care about is figure skating - easy to get my hate on. And my gushing. And my WTFs.
... for example, Johnny W's CORSET. W. T. F.
I managed to avoid any network broadcasts of the luge disaster. Tragic.

Gay, whatever! I enjoyed the men's short program tonight, though I was always a Yagudin fan and hated Plushenko. The fact is (IMO) Plushenko is better than most of the current men's figure skaters. I did love Johnny Weir's program. And I am adoring all the blues music that skaters are using. I am so over classical. Nothing wrong with classical, but they were all so boring. And I love me some blues.

Argh, I hate Plushenko.
Nowadays, anyway.
It's strange, but when it was Yags/Plush, I vastly preferred Plushenko - didn't he USED to have some artistry somewhere? Didn't he used to be able to do Bielman spins? (I honestly am having trouble remembering...) Now, he just jumps, kicks and waves his arms manically, and the less said about his musicality, the better. Add that to a truly arrogant attitude...

I thought Yagudin was more artistic -- but to be honest, I don't know jackshit about skating. I don't know if Plushenko used to be better. The current scoring system certainly doesn't seem to encourage artistry.
I'm looking forward to more Bode...

Argh, poor Lambiel. I know it's sad, but I was rooting for him above EVERYBODY. And I know nothing about him except that he can spin endlessly and for some reason, I think he's the hottest thing I've seen EVER.
Now I'm grouchy because Takahashi just fell, and unless Johnny can pull quads out of his ass, I'm probably going to have to root for friggin' Lysacek to win over Plushenko. It's petty, i know, but I'll be screaming FALL! at the TV every time Plushy jumps.

I find Lysacek really cold, and even wished that Plushenko had won. You know it's bad when...
I also felt badly for Johnny Weir. Was he underscored? He looked really good.
AND Bode Miller won a silver today in the Super G. Woo hoo!

I wasn't really expecting to follow figure skating at all, but I gotta hand it to the segment producers doing the back story pieces for men's and couple's skating, because they pulled me in. Also, there's something about Lysacek's movement on the ice that I enjoyed. He seems like all arms and legs, is he taller than the other skaters?
I really like Lindsey Vonn. The amount of emotion that she showed when she won the gold in the downhill really won me over.

I do think Lysacek is much taller than the average skater, f'clese. And I surprised myself by discovering I actually like him after the fact. He was so gracious in interviews, especially in the face of all the sour grapes Plushenko is spewing.

tikigirl, I basked in every second of Plush's sour grapes. HA!
Weir wasn't really underscored, apparently... his transitions into jumps were a bit simpler than some of the others. However, I think he definitely struck the most emotional chord in his performance, and his presentation score could've been higher.
Lysacek bugs me in a Sharapova kind of way - media presents him as 'ultra-hetero and masculine', just as Sharapova is 'beautiful'. Yeah, cuz a feathered Vera Wang leotard is the ultimate in 'butch'. Not his fault, really, any more than it's Sharapova's.

Too bad about Weir. He is great fun to watch. Agreed on Lysacek's presentation, lizm. He comes across well in interviews. That bear-grease look on the ice has got to go, though.
Also: GOLDEN BODE! WOO HOO!
