I'm not a fan of Serena's (really Serena--people telling you threatening the line judge was "the coolest thing they've ever seen?" You need to hang out with new people) but I agree with you. She's been asked about the curtsy all week and she's been wonderfully enthusiastic about it. I think it's a shame she doesn't get to do it.
I don't think it's a race thing though.
HA!!! I just noticed on the live Scores that they've written "Please add 50 to the Isner/Mahut game score in SlamTracker. Awesome!" It's 8:38 there--how much longer?

Frankly, I can't wait to hear Wimbledon's official spin explanation. It better be good.
ETA: Yeah, the scoreboard thing is hilarious. Just add 50!

I got the impression from reading that full quote that it was random people/fans that said that rather than close friends, and in Serena's defense, she said that she thought that was ridiculous.
I didn't see any evidence of it being a racial thing either.

I agree that Serena should've gotten to play in front of the queen.
I also wish the announcers would just SHUT UP now. They can't stop chattering. I just want to watch the match without being reminded how long it is every five seconds.

I think there's about 20 minutes before they can start thinking about stopping this for darkness. At this point, I don't know that a break will do Isner any good. Mahut seems like he'd recover better given their current conditions.

They usually rotate the top players so that all of them get a chance to play on Centre Court. If the Queen weren't attending, I wouldn't think anything of Serena being on Court 2.
But since the Queen is appearing and they've made such a big deal of the curtsy/bow, it does seem a little suspect. Serena is #1 and the biggest star (except for maybe Sharapova) in the women's game, so it's odd that she's not playing for the queen. Obviously, they scheduled the best men's matches on CC, so why not the women?

That's the best piece of tennis writing I've seen in a while. Hilarious. For sure suspect, it's just impossible to know what's going on behind the scenes.

Hee. Everyone getting giddy.
John is starting to gaze off into the crowd and smile at stuff they're saying. Good or bad for him? They both must need some kind of mental break by now.

That dive Mahut did was probably not the smartest thing to do at this juncture.

Not fair for Mahut. Isner's much closer to the sun, so he's obviously getting much more light.
Wow, John wants to go on??

I thought that was going to be it.
They're complaining about the darkness. Like I said (about two hours ago), it would suck to have this match decided by suspect line calls.
Suspended. Man, I hope there are multiple massage therapists and ice baths waiting for these two.
Can you imagine the queue for the bathrooms right now?

Too crazy for words.
I don't understand why they're being interviewed, though; that's ridiculous. Let them go try to recover, if that's even possible.

Imagine if they come back (somewhat) refreshed for tomorrow and start serving bombs again. How long can this match continue?

I have a feeling, just because everyone is going to get so hyped up about it tonight and that's Murphy's Law, that it will last 2 or 4 games.
