Since the seedings came out today, I figured we might as well get started with the sniping and grousing. No better time than the present, right?
The women's seedings have held true to their rankings except that Elena D. has officially withdrawn, so everyone from Franny on moves up.
As for the men, Fed gets moved up to the #1 seed, Roddick and Sod jump up to #5 and #6 respectively, and Davy drops down to #7. Also, Hewitt jumps up to #15 from the 26 rank, and Karlovic is up to #26 from the 33 ranking. There may be other changes, but I think these are the most notable.

I will never understand why they use one system to seed the men and basically no system to see the women.

I'm still stunned that Safina has dropped all the way to number 20 in one year.

The draws are outInteresting first round matches: WTA - Serena/de Brito, Sharapova/K.Bond, Peer/Ivanovic, Safarova/Cibulkova, Wickmayer/Riske ATP - Verdasco/Fognini, Kiefer/Ferrer, Federer/Falla There's definitely much more potential on the women's side for intrigue in the first couple of rounds.

Serena/De Brito first round match?! Yeah everyone should watch the match with the mute button on.
Nishikori/Nadal match should be interesting to watch too.

As much as I'd love for Peer/Ivanovic or Kiefer/Ferrer to be interesting, sadly both Ana and Nicolas are such giant headcases that I can't see either one putting up much of a fight. Ana, maybe but she's become the queen of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Nicolas' best days are behind him. He doesn't even seem to have that batshit crazy in him anymore.

I think either of those matches could end up being tight. Ana is way inconsistent of course, but has had some good days over the past few tournaments, and Kiefer has had a long layoff, but beat Youzhny last week, and is unpredictable. I don't think either of them will be a factor in the tournament, but I do think they could cause problems for their opponents in the first round.
I have to recant on Fed/Falla. I thought Falla gave Fed more than a sets worth of fight at RG. It was a good set, but that was it. My memory was off.
Serena/de Brito is interesting only because of de Brito's nonsense. I expect a beatdown, but I find de Brito annoying.

All a Serena/de Brito match means is that the noise issue is back to getting public attention.
Speaking of nonsense, Jankovic is going to love all the press for her first round match vs Laura Robson (and if it brings out a certain shared mixed doubles partner, all the better) but otherwise another relatively simple draw.
It seems the same ladies are getting screwed by the draw as at the French.

Dinara has dropped out of Wimby, her spot has been taken by Melanie Oudin, and Stephanie Dubois has taken Oudin's spot as a lucky loser (check your brackets). Apparently Dinara's having back problems again. Very sad. Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez is also out. K.Bond has taken her spot, and Anastasia Pivovarova has taken K.Bond's.

Gulbis just dropped out of Wimbledon. His spot is being taken over by Philip Petzschner, and Santiago Ventura is taking over Petzschner's.

Relax Fed lovers. You know how he gets when he loses a set. He'll probably run it out and win the match 5-7, 6-2, 6-3, 6-0.
