Congrats to Rafa. Too bad for Tomas though. On to the USO.

I'm really happy for Rafa. He deserved the win. He looks strong again. I like Rafa strong and not Rafa the puppy getting kicked like at last year's YEC.
Tomas is adorable in his interview. I like that he's not gutted. Hopefully he uses this win to improve his confidence and fulfill his promise.
I loved the Nadal forward roll. Totally reminded me of kindergarten gym glass.

He is looking very good. I nice win for him, and if he manages his schedule well this summer, he's looking really good for The Open.

Rafa's english is getting so good. Still cracking me up that both on the court with Sue Barker and with John that he starts talking so fast when they ask him about Centre Court.
Have John and Ted really never noticed that Rafa bites the trophy for every tournament he wins? It's not just Wimbledon and "sometimes" the French.
I keep looking down at the computer when they show Rafa's somersault. I wanna see.

If you had asked me in November after the YEC if Rafa would win RG and Wimbledon this year I would have said no. I thought he may never win another grand slam again and so as a fan it is really nice to see him back. You can tell it means a lot to him and his camp. I also enjoy that he seems warmly received at Wimbles and is very appreicative of that support.
I liked how mature Tomas was in his interviews. He is not despondent- just seems confident and realistic in a way that seems like he will get back up on that horse and continue to improve his results. Something very positive has clicked in his head.
I think he will be able to deal with it since his career obit was already written by some in November 2009 and for the first part of this year. Even in early April before he won MC there was the press bleating that Rafa had not won a title since April 2008, he had already reached his peak and his career was going down, down, doan. I remember after Miami he was asked some very guided questions as to if he was worried and Nadal said that he actully was feeling better because he thought he was playing better and writers such as Bodo scoffed at that.
Per the press in 2008 Roger was though and Rafa would dominate (with a brief respite at the USO). In 2009 after Madrid Roger was back and Roger was through. Now Roger is done and Rafa is back. Whatever...the press can't seem to handle peaks and valleys that happen in all careers without putting an expiry date on it. I do think Roger will now be in a different stage of his career- I don't feel he will dominate again the way he has in the past (but who knows maybe he will). But I think he will still have some fantastic tournaments, some more grand slam titles- and will have some wonderful. play.

Delurking to say that I know for many, it's a disappointment that the finals weren't more compelling. But as a Serana & Rafa fan, it's been a damn fine weekend for me. ;D
Oh, plus I don't have to work tomorrow. Life is good.

Attended a Breakfast at Wimbledon viewing party this morning so I'm just now chiming in.
Great job, Rafa! I'm thrilled for him after being unable to defend last year.
Tomas seems like a nice guy and I look forward to watching more of him in the future. He should be pleased at entering the top ten.
It's been nice hanging out with you folks. I'll check in from time to time before the USO.

The girls winner's outfit is...unfortunate. Her feet are completely white and freaky looking compared to her lovely tanned legs. And she lets you see all her leg with that inappropriately high slit. She at least needed some colorful polish on her toenails.

The ATP/WTA should offer a licensee package to a company that does tanning lotion. The ad campaign writes itself.

With a few exceptions, pro tennis players, regardless of gender, always tend to look a bit busted when they try to dress up. Her feet do look unbelievably creepy. Like someone stole them from a corpse and attached them to the ends of her legs.
I do think Serena and Rafa look good though.

I still remember seeing a photo of Pete Sampras' feet that was so disturbing. They were so pale they looked almost lavender compared to his heavily tanned shins.

I go to great pains to avoid tennis feet every summer. When my feet start to get really white compared to my legs I actually put on pants and sit outside with just my feet exposed for a half hour. Don't these girls ever go to the beach?
