I'm thinking we need a "Gutter" thread, because we're in it. And it's awesome.

Okay, here I am, currently press side, waiting for some samples to come through and I decide I can click through to see those pictures. Um, maybe I better wait until I get back to the hotel. (My tough customer act doesn't play too well drooling over a hot Spanish duo.)
In the brief moment before I closed the site I did notice that Feli pulls his bathing suit shorts up just like he does his tennis shorts. Weird habit.

Okay, I'm back in the hotel, drinking a little kombucha, eating some peanut butter, and I've looked through breezy's pictures (thanks breezy!) and I have a question. You're sitting on a beach. You look up and, whether you know tennis or not, those two walk by you. Do you not stare at the gorgeousness? Why is no one in the background of those pictures looking at them?
Another question: the photographer seemed to be taking the pictures down the beach (near the water). Figuring the beach isn't crazy wide, how do Feli and Fer never even notice all these pictures being taken? Are they just so engrossed in each other? (Okay, the second question might be a rhetorical question.)

Quick poll: who's getting up early to watch the ladies final?
Not me.

Not me either. I intend to be deep in a booze-soaked slumber. Screw it.

Hee. I am. But I'll go to the gym to watch if it becomes ridiculous.

I am interested in the ladies final because I am a big Bepa fan- but I think it may conflict with Argentina/Germany game watching so I may have to catch up on it on DVR.
I am so utterly gutted and sad and depressed and crying for team Ghana right now at the WC so I may not be ready to watch soccer tomorrow.

One of us has to go into the office for an hour or so tomorrow. At 9am Eastern. Fab.

I will. After all, I'm sure that, in 2004, a lot of people weren't expecting much of Sharapova in that final. Plus, it's live grand slam tennis. I can't miss it.

I'll be watching. It's not that early here. 8:00 a.m. I'm usually up by then. To answer your question lt - yes, had I been there you would have seen me in the background of every frame with drool running down my chin. If I didn't know who they were there might not have been drool but I'd still be staring. It sure as hell better be hot when I'm in Toronto next month because I want shirtless practice sessions from these two and many others. ETA - Feli's girlfriend had a miscarriage. Odd, I think she was in Ibiza at the time. Isn't that where Feli and Fer are? Someone who can actucally read Spanish might be able to tell. www.libertaddigital.com/el-candelabro/la-modelo-maria-jose-suarez-pierde-el-bebe-que-esperaba-de-feliciano-lopez-1276396487/

Ooooh, that's so sad. What a mess that whole tale has been.

That is very sad about the miscarriage.
I will watch part of the women's at least, and part of the men's (I may have to miss some). I'll be shocked if Serena loses though. I think Tomas has more of a chance than Vera. But we'll see. I'm under-excited for sure though I'm afraid. I can't remember the last time I was actually excited about a men's W final that Roger wasn't in.
1990? (Edberg d. Becker)
Speaking of David Dinkins, Stefan ought to send him a Christmas card every year for re-routing those planes right around the time he won the USO.

I just finished watching the Murray/Nadal match and I learned the following things:
1. Brad Gilbert says that Rafa is right handed and plays left handed. I don't understand why one of the commentators haven't told us this before.
2. The guy commentating with Gilbert doesn't seem to know anything about tennis but Mary was surprisingly quiet.
3. Murray has to go back to wearing compression shorts. Little Murray was flopping, waving, bouncing and generally drawing attention to himself. I picture Little Murray as gross and unsexy as Big Murray and I don't think I should be forced to live with that mental image. I think I'll send him an email about it.
That being said, I really was rooting for Murray. I like Rafa but it would be so special for Murray to win Wimbledon.

Man, how am I supposed to live with mental images like that? Jesus.

Man, how am I supposed to live with mental images like that? Jesus. OH GOD! You know Little Murray is all hooded with patchy red hair. PUKEPUKEPUKE. I was going to re-watch the match today, but the thought of Little Murray is scaring me off. I might have to go look at pictures of Marat's neck to make it all better. Oh and I've always had the impression that he wants the woman to climb him like a tree while he laid there and enjoyed it, so his stamina isn't really an issue. Being the lazy one can be forgiven. For the first few dozen times. Then he'd totally have to step up his game. I'd look sternly at Little Marat and shake my finger in disappointment if he didn't. On the other hand, I've always gotten the impression that Ferrer would want to be the more active participant. He has all that restless on court energy and didn't someone mention his oral fixation? He could read the Pablo Neruda to me afterwards. Or rather in between round 4 and 5. Ah...I'm feeling much much better now. I still have to go into the office.
