Hee, since I want Andy to win I'm hoping for 5 sets too.
DAMMIT! TAPED! NBC--you are a sorry excuse for a network. Just air the finals and leave the rest of the matches to ESPN2.

Murray consistently disappoints me. I really like his game--which is not to say him--but he always manages to get cute on key points: ill-advised drop shots, passive backhands, etc. Murray has a lot of shots, but when the rubber meets the road, he chooses the wrong one. I just don't get him
OK, there's the match. And one last kvetch: I'm really growing tired very quickly of this new trend of players falling onto their backs in jubilation when they win a match. If you're ranked 50 and beat the #3 seed, I get it; if you've just won the tournament, I get it; if you're ranked #1 and just beat the #4 player without losing a set, I don't like it at all.

Oh well. . . poor Andy.
What a great crowd--they were fully behind both players.

Fuck. What a disappointment. Oh well, I can be happy with Rafa winning this thing, even if I was hoping for Murray to take Wimby and Rafa to take the US Open.

That was disappointingly tensionless.

Disappointing is the exact right word for Murray, tisha.
Captain AssPick to the final. Maybe Berdych can pull off one more big match, but I wouldn't bet on it. I'll skip both finals, I think. What a cranky Wimbledon I've had! Time for vacation...

falafaclese, I agree with you about Beckham btw. I loved his son constantly chatting it up all enthusiastic and Beckham paying attention to it all. Doesn't hurt that Beckham w/hair is way better than Beckham w/o hair.
Hee. While interviewing Rafa he stops and thinks and speaks slowly when talking about the tennis and Andy. When they ask him about soccer he starts talking a mile-a-minute. So cute.

Sorry to all the Murray fans and Rafa dislikers here.
Per the radio- the quality of the match was actually quite good. Sounds like their AO match this year in that there was good quality. Sometimes the set scores do not tell the story and I hope the British press realizes that and does not skewer Andy.
I am sad for Andy but happy for Rafa (ducks from the broken fruit and chorus of boos). It seems like his level of play has increased during the tournament.
I am in the minority but I think the finals could be quite entertaining. I am kind of in the anyone but Serena mode of thought. I am rooting hard for Vera and would be happy with either Tomas or Rafa.
tiki Sorry things are so miserable for you. I know how it can be when one is cranky about sports- been there!
Things have been going hellish in my real life so it has actually allowed me to not be stressed about Wimbles this year. That and the World Cup.
I have actually been watching much of the tournament without looking at my usual boards (not this one) and it has really helped me enjoy the tennis without fan fights.

Chesty, I don't suddenly dislike Rafa because I was rooting for Andy. In this case, in the match, I was rooting for one guy I like over another guy I like. And I think you'll find that I'm not the only one thinking that way.

And I think you'll find that I'm not the only one thinking that way. That's not what I was implying...and was kinda teasing. Whenever Andy or Tim in the old days used to lose in the semis- it could be very disheartening for Wimbledon fans...and it can be kinda gauche to say you are happy for the other guy. And that is what I was acknowledging.

I am thrilled for Rafa. I would love him to win another Wimbledon.
Relax chesty. I think tiki is the only real hard core Rafa hater here. And Rafa could stop mid-serving motion to run into a burning building and save 2 dozen baby nuns and she'd think he did it only to stall and delay the match. I feel that way about Djokovic. It's fun!
I wanted a more exciting match. Part of me, the mean cruel part, sort of likes the fact that Murray choked it. I have two British exboyfriends and they have just the most massive egos. So much so that I used to say things like, "Yeah, well, if we cultureless Yanks hadn't bailed your useless asses out of WWII you'd be eating kraut right now." But I do wish Murray weren't such a disappointment.
I'm watching the match on delay here on the East cost. JMac is talking up Murray something fierce. I'd love a final called by Cahill and Drysdale.
ETA: And I'm only teasing tiki because I know she'll react better to that than sympathy. I mean, a drink would be preferable, but absent that, teasing works. And I've been trying to work in my baby nuns line here. It always makes people go "huh? baby nuns? what?"
I can say that in about 4 years, or perhaps sooner depending on the wear and tear, some new hot shot will be taking over the number one from Rafa. I should be looking at the juniors to guess who it could be.

I am relaxed.....I am just teasing and obvioulsy failing. Sigh....sorry.
It is funny- it sounded like the match was exciting on the radio despite the score. Did it play dull on tv? I love Radio Wimbledon announcers- they are very good imo at looking at point by point.
I do feel bad for the UK fans....I would have been happy for either of the fellows winning today. Also with the anticipation it can be a let down if a match is three sets- even if the three sets have good play.
ETA: apocalipstic I am fond of the baby nuns line.
I think Rafa will not last a real long time at number one. I do think it is a real darned shame though that JMdP is still out. I think he could have made some real inroads this year. Sucks, sucks, sucks.

I am relaxed.....I am just teasing and obvioulsy failing. Sigh....sorry. Come on, girly. Try gloating a bit. Our boy won. Federer lost in the quarters. Rafa might lock up year in No 1 or something by winning the tournament. If Rafa wins USO, we can start having heated GOAT discussions involving charts and graphs. Rafa is back. Revel in your enjoyment!
