I love the fact that someone watching decided this was a YouTube moment, found some recording device, rewound their DVR and then filmed their TV.
Listening and watching I've come to the conclusion that Pam is more than a little delusional. When you are called out like that you don't say "he must have rabbit ears" and "amazing, just amazing." Hey, hon, he heard you. Step back and whisper. James is a little Roddick-like with his first statement but she keeps going and at that point of course he's going to still hear her because that strident voice could crack glass.

But Pam is so insightful. If James just listened to her, he'd of course win!
Hey, is listening to the commentators rabbiting on about what you should be doing a violation of the on-court coaching rules?

HA! Great quote, thanks for sharing, 'guru. Shriver is a useless tool. If they're going to let her broadcast (and they shouldn't), they obviously need to pat her down and remove her flask(s) beforehand.
I meant to say earlier that I really enjoyed the psychology comments re: Federer and Nadal from oops, apocalipstick, et al. It's been said many times, but that kind of intelligent, reasoned exchange is why this is the only tennis forum I frequent. No name calling, no heat, just smart people sharing their points of view and learning from each other. Could we get any fucking cooler?
Okay, so what did happen with Verdasco? And Bagfatass? I didn't see any of those. I'm also kind of pissed at Schiavone and Stosur. Way to make people appreciate the women's game.

My new annoying yet sweet little brother, Lukas Lacko, happened to the Chubby Cypriot. I started liking Lacko before seeing him because I can imagine him being called Pukus Slacko on every American playground. And as I said before about rooting for him in a match, hey, why not?
Back to the psychology thing though, I think if we refer to it as their "internal personal narrative" rather than delusion, it'll make more sense. Or seem less cutting.
Speaking of being cutting though, Pam Shriver is totally a teenager. "OoOOOO, it wasn't my fault, I just didn't know, brand new court, blah blah blah, it wasn't really an exchange, he wasn't really mad, I was just trying to help him by telling him to concentrate." How about a classy response from her of "You know, I really hadn't realized I was being a distraction. I apologize for it and I'm glad James said something so that I can be aware and ensure that it doesn't happen again."
Then again, Pam Shriver and class aren't on friendly terms.

Then again, Pam Shriver and class aren't on friendly terms. Oddly enough, Carillo got her to be quiet yesterday... they were discussing Robson making outlandish statements to the press, and how players should perhaps be more reserved/cautious in what they say. Carillo started in on Shriver, saying 'hey, we didn't have any problems getting quotes out of you'... stony silence was the reply. In any case, I'm with Blake on this despite the J-Block... ex-players commentating should be held to a higher standard than drunk fans.

My favorite line: "Shriver's voice is as soothing as a vuvuzela and equally as loud."
Seriously, how can anyone one of her employers look at this and think she should be commentating anything, anywhere. Pam annoyed me when she played tennis and she annoys me tenfold now.

I'm on Blake's side for this one but the JBlock thing became an issue with James (for me) and not just the JBlock when he was told what they were doing and what the reaction from his opponents was and he replied that he was fine with it--and then got them luxury suites with free alcohol. However, that's all moot now because he just isn't playing well anymore and his friends are no longer visible/listenable. I'm really sad that the coaching, etc. changes he made (too little too late) didn't help him. I was hoping he could gain his form. Instead, we got stuck with Fish gaining his form. Darn it.
Wait a sec. While typing I missed that Llodra went up a break on Roddick. Off to a stream I go. . .

They have really plowed through the order of play with almost all matches finishing.
I did hear JMac and Andrew Castle talking though. Apparently, the planning permit only allows play to continue until 11pm. Roof or no roof. That's funny.

Oh come on. Wake up people.
Mahut/Isner are 16-all in the 5th!

I. can't. leave. Feli. But thanks for the update--I'll keep live scores on that match.
As for Feli--he keeps getting his knee taped at every changeover and at this point it looks like he's wearing a cast (he's moving like it's in a cast too). The crowd is firmly behind Berankis which surprises me, but eh, what are you gonna do?

I'm watching. I'm going in late today (if at all) so I can get some things done at home. Luckily it mostly requires that I wait around while other people do their jobs, so I'm all over the tennis this morning. I love ESPN3.com, there are 9 courts with video coverage. Isner/Mahut is on the tv, and Monfils is on my laptop. I'll probably switch over to Venus in a minute. I'm still worried about Makarova.

V is up a break but we all know how that goes. I haven't gotten to see the new outfit in motion. I took off so much time around the French that I ended up overbooking myself during Wimbledon. Yeah, I'm dumb and blond.
Isner is scheduled to play doubles today. Hewitt is a little workmanlike out there. Good for him. I wouldn't mind seeing a good run so late in his career.

No need to worry about Marakova, at least not yet. Venus is up 5-0.
Damn, Monfils just had to lose that 3rd set tie-break. (Sigh) Hope he doesn't falter.

Hope Venus keeps this play up. Still kinda surprised they had Andy on Centre and not Roger.
