Whoa, Vania King beat Cibulkova. It seems like Vania is good for at a Grand Slam upset every so often, but she's never been able to do anything consistent in singles.
Rafa's match was very tight. I guess it's not a complete surprise given that Isner's no slouch, but I really didn't expect him to take it to 5 sets.

Rafa made me very nervous but I'm glad he pulled it out. Isner played very well and has nothing to be ashamed of.
I agree that the French aren't too warm towards Rafa which I still find surprising given how successful yet gracious he's always been there. Hmm

I don't know, but I think it is more France vs. Spain than France vs. Rafa and I think Rafa understands that. It always cracks me up how the Romance Language countries just do not like each other.
This Fer/Juan stream is cracking me up because a commentator switch happened mid-match and they went from a pro-Fer commentator to a pro-Juan commentator. And, hee, since we don't get commercials on the stream (I'm never going to thank you enough falafaclese for pointing us in TTC stream direction) I get to see Fer do his rapid apple eating. I have not one clue what that is about but it always makes me laugh.
I adore Vania King. She's just so nice and upbeat and smiley. And since I've really come to like Bettanie Mattek-Sands (her writing won me over) I'm really okay with the US women right now.

I hope this match is the start of John's rise back up the rankings. This is a match to be proud of.
Very impressed with Ryan Harrison keeping up with Soderling after getting rocked in the first set.
Almagro lost? Doubt he'll play Nice next year.

Clijsters seems to be moving fine, and playing well.
I was just able to identify Andrea Petkovic on my livestream purely by seeing her butt and waistline. I feel kind of creepy-stalkerish about that.

David Ferrer is adorable. Not that this is news, but how cute is this interview? Djokovic as the MC at his wedding and taking Feli to great restaurants and clothes shopping. I don't think Ferru quite got the "walking in the forest" question (unless he did get it just fine) and maybe the Mosquito drinks a bit. Did anyone see Sharapova's interview with Macatee last night? Nice lady and I think she should have given that woman in the gym a big hug. Meanwhile, the ring!?! I don't normally notice stuff like that but Maria talks with her hands a lot and I couldn't help noticing all that flashing going on. The weird thing for me about Maria is that I think of her as a real adult--someone who I've seen grow up and mature and I think of her as one of the elder statesman of the game. Weirdly, she's four years younger that the co-workers I think of as kids.

I'm always thrown by Maria's age as well. She sounded so mature in that interview... as well as someone who is happy and in love.
On the opposite side, Jelena Jankovic is 26, which throws me because she rose up with Ivanovic so I think of them from the same age group and she's actually closer to a veteran. That she's two years older than Maria does not compute.

Ivanovic lost in the first round again. She still looks painfully thin to me; that can't help.

Be still my heart. JW Tsonga just won his match and smiled. His smile just kills me. It takes a close second place to Rafa's heart-melting smile in my book.

A medical timeout ... to get your blood pressure taken? Does Lisicki have a history of arrhythmia or something?
ETA: I presume it was for dehydration/dizziness; I would have thought at this level of competition the athlete would know their own body enough to know whether they can/should continue.

What's wrong with how they're showing this match on ESPN2? It's elongated or I guess maybe wide screen. It's fucking distracting and it's like I'm watching from the nose bleed seats almost. Why do they have to change things?!

Good heavens, I hope Lisicki is okay. I thought I heard one of the people attending to her after the match say "her leg is numb," which kind of scared me. (Although it could have been someone who wasn't speaking English, so the phrase could have been, "let's go get some pizza.")
Boy, brutal third round match-ups in the men with Djoker-Delpo and Tsonga-Wawrinka.

Did anyone notice that Amelie is playing mixed doubles with Llodra? That is so close to perfection that I would consider taking a flight to Paris.
Oh, and something I noticed--John McEnroe is as fascinated with saying "Potito Starace" as Italian as he can as I am. There is just something about that name (like saying "Gael Monfils") that makes you want to say it as close to the original language as possible. I can't say the same for "Feliciano Lopez" because of all that lisping.

It was horrible watching that with Lisicki. I hope she's okay and it's nothing serious. I felt so bad for her having to go through the crowd like that and sobbing.
lt Johnny Mac said that Llodra volunteered himself and Amelie, but didn't speak to her about it, that is until after he'd accepted. He seemed to be suggesting that Amelie wasn't too pleased, lol.

Maybe Llodra should have paid better attention. Mauresmo isn't going to be able to play mixed after all because, being retired, she's no longer a member of the anti-doping association and therefore ineligible.
