Ha! Maybe a flash mob that acts out the screams at Flushing Meadow - or, better yet, Wimbledon!
Seriously. If the WTA won't do anything, it's up to us!

Or the umpire? I would love it if something like this actually happened.

Every year, my poor boyfriend has to feign interest in tennis during grand slam season, or else he doesn't get to see me at all. Anyway, the thing he likes to do whenever Azarenka or Maria are squawking is to grab a wooden spoon and pretend he's a mad maestro conducting some kind of Symphony or something.
I would love to see a stadium full of people with pretend wands "conducting" the "Arias Maria and Victoria"!

Fognini has retired against Djokovic citing medical advice.
Did Nole make a deal with the devil or something? Everything's going his way. Amazing.

And it was a muscle tear so I guess that takes the controversy out. I wish Fognini had retired against Montanes but maybe he didn't realize how serious it was during the match. Montanes must be so pissed right now.

Gilles Simon looks like a miniature Robin Soderling.

The only thing I can see tripping up Djokovic at this slam is if his rhythm is disrupted. Perhaps the Fognini withdrawal will do just that-- Djoko in essence will have to begin his tournament all over again-- he doesn't play his semi until Friday. That's a long break. If Fed makes it to the semi, I can see him getting off to a quick start and taking advantage of Djoko's nearly week-long pause. Even though Djoko has dominated Fed lately, I still think Fed is a better clay-courter than the Serb.

Wow, I thought Murray would go deeper this tourney but it's not looking good...at all.

Definitely not looking good, and with a bum ankle, even if he manages to hold on through this third set, is he really going to be able to handle a five-setter at this point? Did anyone see this netpost winner from the Clijsters/Rus match? I didn't, but it's pretty unbelievable.

They played it for a few of their experts (Cahill, McEnroe?) at the desk, and both experts said they had never, EVER seen that happen before. Pretty funny.
I'm interested in your opinions: do you think given the relatively shaky state of his confidence, that Rafa would be more confident playing Roger than against the other players he's struggled against this week, like Isner or Ljubicic? I ask, because I feel like Rafa's pattern of going high to the Fed backhand is so extraordinarily successful that he might actually feel more confident against Fed than less talented opponents.
So glad to see three supremely likable players populating three of the four women's quarters (Sveta, Frankie and Li). I think Petkovic might be pretty likable too, but I'm not ready to put her in that rarified company yet. (Hmm. ProBoard spell check doesn't recognize "rarified.")

I'd like to pass on a few rules to Viktor Troicki:
1 - If you are up 5-0 in the first set, finish off the set. Do not let it get to a break point chance for 5-all. You may have won the set but you just let your opponent get hope. 2 - If you're playing a top 5 player and are up 2 sets and a break, do not assume you have it in the bag. Especially if the player isn't playing with a dark cloud over his head (for a change). You already found out the corollary last US Open about serving for a match against a top 5 player - though that did turn out well for Novak a few months later and you did benefit from it as well. 3 - If you know darkness can become an issue, stop bitching and fight the last few games so your opponent doesn't have time to level the match. 4 - If you end up losing this match, take solace that you're not alone. I'm sure Gasquet is still in town.

Damn, Troicki, have you never been a kid? What an ass, complaining and bitching all in front of the poor ball kid who just made a mistake. I thought the kid was going to start crying. Get over it Troicki, you git.
Although I do thank Troicki for wearing green shorts today. I was having some problems yesterday telling them apart when the camera was so far away that I couldn't see their hair.
Does it freak anyone else out that there is a guy in Troicki's camp who looks an awful lot like Soderling?
The guys on Radio Roland Garros this morning were saying that Troicki's coach is quite the jerk.

I wish I hadn't picked him to win the tournament--he give me such agita when he plays and it's even more stressful when I need him to win. (Not that I have any chance in the pool, just that I don't want my choices to be completely useless.)
Now Roger is trying to give me a heart attack.

WTG, Frankie!
Also, Roger's ass has never looked better. Yum.
