I cannot believe I'm agreeing with Pimmy about anything but she's dead on when it comes to Venus. Champions do not like to lose and that stress is going to make matters worse. Hearing about the practice sessions actually bothered me more than the match itself.
It does figure that Gulbis would bring his best out today, as if the last year didn't happen. Though Berdych has improved on consistency, he does have a couple of first round losses in majors even since that run here two years ago.
I see that Granollers/Troicki did deliver on the crazy.

And they appear to all be the Italians. . . the commentators were joking that they all wanted to get home to watch the Euro.
Whoa. . . Berdych?!? That would be a massive upset.
The world needs to break up with Stella McCartney. Brits are not pleased with her official outfits for the Olympics--my favorite comment about the tennis outfits was that it made the players look like the UK postal workers.

Berdych has saved 3 MPs so far. This is... I just don't know what this is.

Such a disappointment in the Isner match. I actually was rooting for him. I want him to have a breakthough

Yay for Kim.
Too bad for Isner.

I guess the All England Club knew what it was doing putting this match on Centre. Unbelievable!

Nice to see the youngsters doing well. Congrats to Hampton and Stephens.
McHale will now have to sleep on it. Hope it helps her tomorrow.

I don't understand the design of the Wimbledon website. There's a lot of wasted space, and all the information is squeezed into the middle of it. What are they saving all that room for?

My poor John. . .
falafaclese, I think they were going for showing off the great photography that they were using in the background to be the focus--which I appreciate--but that's going to slow down loading and make a bit of a mess. They should use the photography in the photo section, but the downside is that most people don't even notice it there. Conundrum.

If I'm Paolo Lorenzi, I'd be afraid about what Mahut will do now that there's no Isner around. They were 2-sets-all when play was suspended. That is how 70-68 started - the first day was the first four sets. In the midst of the British tabloids trying to play up the issues between Federer and Nadal came this cute story about Djokovic and Murray.

Thanks for that, moon. Yeah! Jelena and Nole are still together! The commentators were saying something about Novak and golf and Scotland but I missed it--did he really pull a golf club out of his racquet bag or were they joking?

That website is a hard-to-read mess. I can't believe someone approved its design and found it user-friendly. Roland Garros does it much, much better.

I will probably go to the BBC's play by play blog to follow up to the minute matches. It's fun when they interject with twitter comments from the fans.
The Wimbledon site looks like it's made of Flash and Pop-ups, or a latter-day simulation of those things. I agree that it's really off-putting and won't look good on a lot of computers. I wonder how it looks on handhelds - probably can't be read well at all.
As far as the TV coverage goes it seemed okay today but I too am unhappy with ESPN taking over. It bothers me that the most important tournament of the year is becoming essentially cable only in the US. I have read that ABC will repeat the final on tape delay but you just know it won't be complete.
I have Time Warner Cable but my building just cut a deal to add Showtime without our approval and I'm really worried about my bill. Tennis is only thing I can't stream to my TV some other way!
