I love watching other sport updates after a big tennis final--you can always tell which guys were watching the tennis. I'm catching up on MLBNetwork and the first thing Joe Magrane (ex-player, current anchor guy) said when he sat down was "which teams held serve the first half." Hee, wonder who he was rooting for?
acre, I know the ending but I'm still watching ABC on-and-off. Makes it easier to catch little moments when you already know the outcome.
eta: I don't know if it will be the same conversation between Roger and Mike Tirico that ABC aired but ESPN SportsCenter has a "Roger Federer Conversation" coming up. If you didn't see it already, the Tirico interview was quite good.

So now I'm home and watched the end of the match on Tennis Channel, which is using the BBC coverage. Between Boris Becker refusing to be silent and Andrew Castle's nonsense, no wonder the Brits can't stand to listen to Murray matches.

I have to say that this was one of the most enjoyable Wimbledon's for me in quite a while. Three years at least and that's kind of awesome. Serena, Venus, Andy, Roger, Freddie, Johnny, Rosol, and on it went. Good tennis this year, great finals that weren't duds, and even better we'll be back again in three weeks! I'm excited for the Olympics and since Roger won Wimbledon, I'm gonna say Andy will win an Olympic medal, gold preferably, but any would be great. Last time we had the Olympics I was burned out by the time the US Open rolled around, this time I can't wait.

Me, too. With a sad twist of irony that we've been home the last few summers while I've been somewhat disinterested and this year I was scrambling to find any coverage on the road for W and will be equally out of range for the Olympics! You might see a series of panicked pleas for info over that week.... Ban me when I get too much!
Order should be returned for the USO, I'm hoping.

Ah, but there's nothing like the inability to see something to make it that much more important, oops. Galvanizes the old love. falafaclese, thanks for the Wertheim article. Did you see the essay he linked to? It's about the women wearing makeup on the court. One thing they didn't talk to and is, to me, the most important reason to not wear makeup on the court--the clogged pores and acne when they're wearing makeup and sweating. Much better for your face to keep the makeup off and keep the skin clear for your non-court life. Takes way more makeup to cover the acne so many of the women have.

I saw that. I also saw this headline. Which made me giggle like a moron.

I love that headline Fala.
I was away visiting family this weekend so I only got to see bits and pieces of both finals until I got home last night and watched what I had recorded.
I was pulling for Roger in a big way but I too was choked up when Murray started to cry. I really hope he gets at least one slam in his career.
Happy for Serena too although I would have been just as happy with Agie winning. I just get a kick out of her.

Blocked as "Adult Material"--now I'll have to check it when I get home. . .

That's kind of funny that it was blocked. Evidently your content filter has a fairly finely tuned affinity for double entendres.

My goodness that's purple! I was thinking how grateful Wimbledon must have been for the roof because they had the timing for laying the new sod so tight and if the tournament had gone into this week they would have been struggling to be ready for the Olympics.
falafaclese, I just read that headline and I have to giggle at how, shall we say, enthusiastic our filter is.
tiki, if you're still around check your PM (I can't text because I refuse to give up my data plan).

An interesting, though brief, article from the NYT about Fed-Annacone and Serena and the French coach she's recently brought on: I, for one, didn't know about this guy being added to the Serena team.
