Geesh, this is a real nail biter but it's good to see an extremely competitive match.

Venus likes those Italian men. She dated another Italian businessman back in the day too. And she can speak Italian too and did so at the Italian Open. She sounded good to me.
Now it's getting good. But I'm getting the feeling that Tomas is going to fade away, his serve has gone off.
Now would Roger have to face Andy in the semi's?

I think I actually want Tomas to win this. I love how he dealt with the third set meltdown and everything seems to be conspiring against him. Also, Murray told off the reporters who all assumed he'd be playing Fed in the SFs.

I'm torn, I know how tough it would be for Roger to come back, but I still have the match on and I'm happy he is still battling and hitting great shots. Not sure what will happen now though....
Does anyone else think that Roger might have watched Andy R's last match and gotten distracted? Like the Julien Benneteau match after Rafa lost at Wimbledon?
NOOOO....too bad...not what I wanted for sure....Well, Roger has had a great year regardless.

Wow. Great for Tomas and I hope he gets to the final. Sad for Roger but glad he won a set and didn't lose in three.
It'd be awesome if it were Del Po vs Tomas in the final. I'd love that.

I'm sad Roger lost, but I'm happy for Tomas. I don't think Roger was watching Roddick's match, I think it was the routine getting all screwed up by not playing a fourth-round match. But Tomas played so very well.
I can't believe I won't be seeing Roger in the semis for the first time in nine years. That's an insane run.
Yeah, his fighting back is making this all go down easier for me. Oh dear, Tomas's mom might want to rethink the inked-in eyebrows.
I'm hoping for an Andy/Ferrer final but I wouldn't cry if it was Tomas/Ferrer.

Wow, I was right about that guy? And here I thought I was irresponsibly starting a baseless rumor. Nice research, lt An Italian boyfriend? How continental! (I've always wanted to say that). As for that Austrian article, every quote sounds like it was either translated from English to Austrian and back again, or heavily paraphrased, because none of it sounds like something Venus would say.
Oops, while I was checking out Venus' boyfriend Fed lost? I was sure after he won the third he would hang on and take it. That's so disappointing. I'm kind of glad I missed most of it, because I would have been completely on edge.
C'mon Murray!

I had those thoughts exactly, roseha. Certainly fits the MO.
My other thoughts were to blame my own jinxing or lt's premonitions....

oops, when things start going wrong in a day for me I expect them to keep getting worse. Same token, when good things are happening I figure better things will follow. So when everyone I wanted to win lost today I knew it wasn't going to end all that well. I still can't believe Murray turned his match around because that outcome was the only pure positive for me.
Oh, and Roger is now out of the unofficial "player of the year" running since Andy and Djokovic are still in it. If we could get rid of Novak before Saturday this year will be Andy's. If not, it will come down to whoever is the finalist/winner.

I would have normally said my ideal final would be Murray/del Potro but I didn't seriously think Ferrer would be in this position. If del Potro beats Djokovic, that makes Ferrer in the final seem like a real possibility. That switches my ideal to Murray/Ferrer.

I put the blame fully on Roger's hair. Did he have this hair cut in Cincy? He couldn't smooth it back the way he likes before he serves or gets ready to return. He would reach up to brush his hair aside but it wasn't the same, cause it was too short. He shouldn't have cut his hair.

I'm blue. Dammit, Roger, you're never supposed to lose. I thought you understood that was the arrangement.
I love your hair theory, skyz.

We really do indulge in the "jinxes" don't we? I was thinking things like, I should record it, I shouldn't record it, I should watch/not watch and I finally told myself IT DOESN"T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE! I mean, I don' t think any of us really believe in jinxes but we act like we do...maybe it's part of the "fun" of rooting for someone...
Anyway for Roger to have such a great year at 31 has been so great, I hope he continues to do well. And as I meant to chime in on earlier when it came up, I'm glad he's so happy with his life. Even in the 2-1/2 years when he didn't win a slam I would think, but he's got that nice family now.
ETA: Harry, I totally feel as you do, really. I think I'm just trying to cheer up a little. I'm not that surprised that Roger lost to a potential spoiler like Tomas, and certainly you were right, lt about the schedule playing a big role. These things happen sometimes.

I have to give credit to Tomas for a match well played. I wanted Roger to win it all since Rafa wasn't in the mix but... Guess I'll blame the hair too.

heh, fine roseha, go all mature on us. . . I'm so bad about jinxes that I have to make sure that I'm crossing an uneven number of things (fingers, arms, legs). Even is bad and uneven is good. I might have a problem.
