What a great comeback for Rafa after last year.

I'm shocked there was a 6-1 set between these two. Yeah Nadal is having an awesome summer, he's definitely on a roll, close to untouchable, but still. Have to wonder how much that 5-set match with Stan took out of Djok, especially the way he just faded. But I'm happy either way, I love Nadal, but I also adore Djok's game. He's 2nd only to Fed to me (game-wise, not personally). Not that Nadal is too shabby, I love his game too.
So basically the faves won both the men's and women's. Naturally I would have liked Fed to do better, but it would have been only one more round, I knew he didn't have a hope in hell of beating Nadal in that quarter. Not the way they're each playing. Plus Nadal is just the better player now, Fed is 32 and on the down-slide, the glory days are over*, and Nadal is in his prime.
*But I still love him the mostest, and he is still the GOAT, age happens to all.

I'm not a Nole fan, but even I found that fourth set fade hard to watch. The tennis had been amazing up until then. It really was his match to win or lose.
I kept getting visually confused by Nole's girlfriend and Rafa's sister. Maria Isabel has definitely improved over the years and one toothy long haired blonde looks quite a bit like the other. Both are lovely.
My CBS affiliate started live coverage at 630 and fuck them. I missed the entire first set and most of the second. French of my balls!!!!! At they reshowing on TTC?
Again, the presenters act like the players are all into the checks and they just want the trophies. It's all so icky.
At least from what I heard, JMac was slathering whoever was winning at the time. Ugh. And was that Al Troutmouth? He's loathsome at all sports.

apocalipstick - the TC site doesn't seem to be accurate. It claims the women's doubles final is airing tonight at 8 Eastern but that was definitely not a 4 hour match whereas this was. It is officially listed for noon Wednesday.

I'm a little bereft - that's basically it for tennis for the year. Well not quite, the YEC is a big deal, but I will be totally, absolutely bereft if Fed's not in it. I know he won't win or anything, it's not that, but a YEC without Fed is like ... a day without sunshine.
Saw an article about Esther Vergeer at the Open, as an ambassador for wheelchair tennis basically. I knew she was dominant, but 470 consecutive wins?? That's nuts. And I've never seen any of it, I would be interested if they televised it, but no. Also, the draw is only 8? Wow.

I do wish they would televise some wheelchair tennis Acre. Prior to his retirement, the number one Canadian male wheelchair player trained at my club. He used to play against able bodied people there. He was amazing to watch. I would love to see a few real matches.
