I'm so pleased for Stan (or Stanley, as Fed usually calls him). I just love his clean, sleek, powerful game, and I've always had a soft spot for players who can fulfill their promise late in their careers (Pat Rafter, anyone?).

So I guess we're looking to Djok and Nadal to restore order. Would've been even sweeter if the likes of JMDP, Jo-Willy and Haas were involved but what with injuries and age one can't always have what one wants. Yeah, I like Stan's game, duly loved Pat, plus those mentioned above. And I honestly do love Nadal and Djok's game is downright bedazzling, so I can't complain.

Deadspin did an article on the prevalence of the "come on" in tennis. It's pretty funny. I love the clip of Errani yelling at Cornet (complete with Italian gestures) that she should be yelling "allez!" instead of "vamos!" And there is the unintentional humor of Mary Carillo exalting over the quietness of the game in past decades. This, coming from the woman who cannot keep her mouth shut then entire time she's on TV?

Indeed. I watched the first set on a TV at the gym and the (hopefully only) second set on the computer. I must say, Jim and Mary Jo are way better at commentating than the dull-as-dirt radio team. They are saying the same things, but the monotone of the radio pair is making them a distant second.
It's interesting to see that as good as Max still is, he isn't nearly as clutch as he used to be. Even that serve has been letting him down which is upsetting for me to see. I just read the article about him on USOpen.org and he is planning on still coming to the Open next year but I'll make sure to see him at his "home" tournament in Miami because my chances are becoming fewer.
There was no part of me that didn't want Max and Andrea winning but I really do like Spears and Gonzalez (and his adorable little baby) so I'm glad they're going to partner again.

It was great watching the mixed this morning. I usually only see that on TV during Hopman Cup.
Azarenka looks like a toddler having a tantrum when she isn't playing well.

I'd say "c'mon Li Na" but would it even matter at this point?

This is the only time I hope Venus and Serena lose in the doubles. I need a rested Serena in the final.

No lizm, but a fellow Canadian here. I was watching the match on TSN and there was absolutely no commentary. There was full sound so you could hear all of the sounds of the match but absolutely no commentary. I sure makes for a pleasant viewing experience. They were talking about it on the news this morning but, you know, we are Canadian so we tend to be pretty low key about these things. I was pretty disappointed (booooo!) but yeah somewhat low key. I fell behind on PVR so I had to avoid the boards. Eesh that Li Na match was painful.

Hlavackova is having one heck of a day today. Good for her, I like that Czech team.

I know she lost today, but I miss seeing Flavia more often. She's more low key, but she has the athletic game that I enjoy. Plus she's low-drama and just gets down to business out there.
ETA: That mumsie outfit Nike has Vika in is a travesty. Equally unpolished-looking on the men's side: Berdych. H&M needs to get their shit together.

Berdych needs more color in his clothing. Gray is not right for him.
That high-waisted skirt on Vika is a travesty. These players have amazing bodies and yet so many of the kits make them look awful. Vika looks hippy and her torso looks blocky. Appalling. She should really go for a one-piece dress with some color blocking that would emphasize her waist.
Serena is wearing almost the same outfit, but in a different color skirt and a better belt, not to mention nice seaming in the top. However, Serena's enormous boobs with a belt make her torso look disproportionate. (As a woman with breasts larger than Serena's, I know of what I speak. The Dolly Parton look isn't a good one.)
I'm not watching Stan/Nole because I cannot stand Nole's family. I don't want to look at them or hear about them. They are the worst sort of sports parents. You just know Srdjan would chest bump an umpire at a T-ball game if he felt his son was the victim of a bad call. I like Nole much better in highlights. I can see the amazing shots without the family and chest-thumping.
Speaking of family though, Mirka is looking amazing. She's one of those women who becomes more lovely as she ages. Marriage and family becomes her.
I haven't followed the news, are Rafa's parents back together?

I never thought the Stan v Nole match would be this good. Glad I decided to tune in.

I like to see Stan do well, and I share the hate for Djok's family, but damn I do love to watch him play. So I'm undecided.

I could not agree more about Vika's horrific outfit. And as someone who sweats a lot when she's working, she needs a better color for her clothes (boy, do I empathize with her on that one).
I hadn't been paying enough attention to Stan this year, his game is looking so good. I wanted Novak to win going into the match but changed my mind during the first set. Then I had to leave for an appointment during the third and (hours later) came home during the fifth. Changed my mind again because I was going to root for whomever could beat Rafa so I wanted Novak to win again. Of course, I hope Richard can beat Rafa in this semi but I'm not holding my breath.
Loved that they interviewed both Stan and Nole on the court. Loved that Stan got a standing ovation as well. Laughed to see Richard Branson sitting in Novak's box. Adored seeing Nole's adorable girlfriend.
HA! They apologized on CBS because Stan said "fuck" while falling over in his chair with cramps during his press conference. Exactly how delicate are the ears of the viewers?
Come on, Richard! You can do this! Believe! If Gasquet were to win this I would retroactively wish that Stan had won just so the final would be Gasquet/Wawrinka and it would be the battle of the gorgeous backhands. I wish the crowd was supporting Gasquet more--I don't like the cheering for faults.
Hey Mary. Shut up. I get a kick out of how neither Bill nor John comment on her stupid stories.
