A testament to Monfils' entertainment value: 10:45pm at the U.S. Open on Louis Armstrong. He's trailing 2 sets to love against the top-ranked American, and the entire stadium is chanting "Mon-fils!! Mon-fils!!".

I have to admit that Isner, as boring as his game is, showed great maturity as he stepped up his game in that fourth set tiebreak. That crowd switched from "Mon-fils!" to "U.S.A." so fast.
I find it hilarious that Querrey is so far off the radar that his loss yesterday amounted to a "whatever". Sure he would have lost to Federer next round but he has to at least get to that match so there can be some hype. Looks like it'll be Isner alone shouldering that burden for a few more years (maybe Jack Sock can join him but that will depend a lot on which Tipsarevic shows up for their match).

I took a bunch of pictures of her yesterday. She was working the end of the Serena match into the Roger match. Which made it doubly great because she was on the court for the in-between and she (and the rest of the active ball kids) were doing all the match setup. I had to explain to the person I was with who she was and why I was so excited to see her.
In Roger's on-court post-match he said something about playing Sam next and Pam had to let him know he was (at that time) losing in the first set. So Roger at least was thinking of him. . . (don't think too many other people were).
Feli has finally got the hair right--it looks just about perfect right now--but that thing growing on his neck is just too awful for words.
I can't believe my only chance to see Max is in mixed today. He's always been better when he's not the "experienced veteran" on the team (witness the last doubles failure he had--the year with Jamie Murray) but he's just too (tennis) old to be the young guy. I'm guessing full-on retirement after this season but, for the first time since that Murray year, he won't be at the year-end Championships. Sad.

It's so funny, because clearly there are a lot of them that come back every year (as evidenced by how I always see a few who look vaguely familiar) but for some reason I immediately notice her whenever she comes on my TV. It's so dumb, but it makes me laugh. It must have been an odd thing to explain.

I'm only able to catch bits and pieces of the del Potro vs. Hewitt match. Why is Juan hitting so many backhand slices? Is something wrong with wrist? It's not a shot I usually associate with him.

breezybee - sadly, yes. Delpo has been having left wrist issues for about a month. Which means the longer this match goes on, the more worried I am about his future.

So, I just spotted our Colette. I was wondering if she'd be a ball person this year and she's at Venus and Serena's doubles match. I was wondering if she was there too, because I hadn't seen her. Then I saw someone who looked a lot like her in the stands of the Christina McHale match. I just confirmed it. I'm watching McHale/Ivanovic, and Colette is sitting with Christina McHale's team, and cheering for her.

Stupid CBS. Does anyone know of any good streaming for tonight? I don't have TTC and ESPN3 doesn't have any streaming until Monday's night session. I also want to watch Feli's match on 17 so I'm keeping the TV on CBSsports network figuring they'll show a little of the outer courts--but right now they're concentrating on Ferrer's match on Armstrong.
I guess I'll have to deal with the European streams but I'd rather have a decent one if anyone knows of active ones.
eta: whoops, that's Grandstand for Ferrer, not Armstrong.

lt - I always find the best ones here. We are getting some pretty good coverage in Canada but they don't always show the match I want to see.

lt, try the US Open site (usopen.org). They're streaming six courts and for the most part the streams are great. I watched Serena's match on there last night, so they should be streaming tonight as well.

Ha! skyz, I knew I was forgetting somewhere, trust me to forget the first place I should have looked. . . Thank you! I'll use them for tonight's match.
CBS Sports is sticking to the three main courts--heck, at one point they were showing the exact same match at the same time. So, they're useless.
Oh well, Feli lost anyway. I ended up with my usual livescorehunter but I hate their invasive ads. At least he lost to Raonic so I know breezy would be good.

Watching Sveta/Stosur vs Peng/Hsieh and it's been entertaining so far. Hsieh seems to be wearing a cocktail dress.

I saw some of that too, skyz it was entertaining. In spite of the fact that Hseih's outfit was completely distracting.
Camila Giorgi is really impressive.
ETA: I can't believe she's ranked 136.

So nice to see a player step on and play the match of her life on the big stage. Didn't see anything to indicate this was unfamiliar territory for Giorgi. Still, totally bummed for Caroline because there was not much wrong with her game - at this point, her biggest issue is that she's still evolving but doesn't always connect with the new ways in the big moments.
I like Roger's evening shirt but it looks like he picked up the wrong shorts.
