I'm trying not to be too nervous thinking that Roger could win this, and I do think he has a chance, but I also agree that it's great to have him still around and playing so beautifully. I'm sorry for Serena but can't say I'm totally surprised. In this day and age the media attention on a possible Grand Slam is overwhelming and Vinci wouldn't cave in that last game. I'm sorry Vika or Petra isn't there to take advantage but we'll see what happens in the final.

I'm just watching the TC replay of the Fed-Wawrinka semi, and it struck me how great-looking the coaches are getting these days. I could have been struck by the same quality in Fed's semi last year, but I guess I was so distressed by the result I missed the hotness on display.
Just a comment from the shallow end of the pool.

I live for the shallow end, harry!
The women's final wasn't half bad, at least what I saw of it. I had decided to root for Vinci, based on the Fognini Factor, but overall it was good, solid tennis. Pennetta seems so nice; I can't understand why she's with that self-obsessed douche. And Vinci was hilarious at the ceremony, trying to steal everything that wasn't nailed down.
I'm so nervous about the men's final that I might have to go outside and just get periodic updates.

Well of course the final is here and there's a rain delay. Actually I'm finding the Watch ESPN app really useful for getting an idea as to when they are going to actually start. Or not. Currently they seem to be saying "not before..." every 15 minutes...

Feeling nervous here in Sleepy Hollow, but less so than before Wimbledon. For some reason I felt as though Roger didn't "believe" before the Wimbledon final, but feel somewhat hopeful that he might believe today.
Come on, ROGER!!!!!!!!!!
(Unfortunately - or possibly fortunately - I have to go out and teach in half an hour. Hold down the fort, everyone!)

You'll probably be happier to be gone, harry. I'm going to crack open a bottle of wine when the match starts.
Today my friend Dave came early, wanting to finally catch Feds, and...endless rain delay. Maddening. Maybe Roger is doing yoga or something, even though it's Djokovic who claims to achieved serenity (HA HA).

I already mended a tear in a blouse and I never do that so... Maybe if it turns into a night match it will help Roger? Here's hoping ...

I've been staying distracted so as not to get too nervous. I ignored the starting time and figured I would start watching the DVR about an hour or so in, so I didn't even realize there was a rain delay. Now I'm back in the position I was trying to avoid. Nervous about the match and no ability skip ahead if things get too tense. Damn you nature!

Dave, who doesn't know that much about tennis, just pointed to Brad Gilbert and said, "Do you think that bald guy is hot?" and I yelled, "NO! He's a dickweed!" Nerves. Time for that bottle of shiraz.

I don't know if shiraz is a good idea. If he's checking Brad Gilbert out now, imagine what will happen after a couple glasses.

Thankfully, the shiraz is just for me, fala! And is there enough alcohol to make Brad hot? Not in my world.

As distraught and pessimistic as I am, I wish I were live-tweeting Dave's comments.
After the first 3 games: "Fuck this, Roger's going to lose."
After a break back: "Roger will win."
After a Djokovic break: "Roger's going to lose."
After the big 1st set Djokovic fall: "I feel bad for him."
After Djokovic takes the first set: "I hope he falls again."
At Djokovic serving 4-5 in the second: "I fucking hate Djokovic. You've infected me. He's horrible."
At least I will have enjoyed the commentary tonight...

Opted for playing some tennis of my own, and then came back just at the right time, because I got to see Fed win the second set. At a friend's house, so I can't fiddle feverishly with the remote when things get too tense.

Good for you, fala, smart move. Hope you played a great match! My high point might be Dave giving me some humor tonight. It's only tennis! And any Roger is beautiful Roger, win or lose. So I tell myself...

Dave says that Djokovic has "metal eyes." I don't know what that means. Maybe he is a cyborg from the future ala Terminator. At any rate...ugh. The wine is totally not working, sadly.
