Should we have an 09 thread out now? Sure, Why not? Has anyone else noticed that the online feeds this year are of much better quality than they've ever been? My tennis shakes have officially been quelled even in spite of the whacked out hours during the which play has occurred. I love waking up to tennis when it's still dark outside. This morning I inexplicably woke up at 4:30am, so I shuffled into the other room, wrapped myself in a comforter and watched some Hopman Cup on my laptop. Fed looked good today. I wanted to watch Jo-Willy too, but I couldn't find a feed.

Momo over Ana today. Good for Amelie.

Yes, that's her best win in years. It would be great if she could finish her career with a slam, but I'm not holding my breath. It would be nice just to see a deep run somewhere.
Venus killed Jankovic 6-2, 6-2 in Hong Kong. I know it's an exo, but that's an impressive scoreline. Jankovic blamed her offseason training for making her slow and bulky. Um, maybe she should have considered that before adding so many extra pounds of muscle?

Um, maybe she should have considered that before adding so many extra pounds of muscle? I was really surprised by that score line as well, especially b/c of JJ's off season regiment. I haven't seen her so I didn't know that she put on muscle, though I should have realized it as she didn't have any weight to loose. Watched a bit of the Hopmann cup, I don't root for Krazy Kiefer but it's a shame hat he wrecked his ankle. I've been watching Liscki since she beat Lindsay at Fed Cup, so it'll be interesting if she makes herself a factor this year. And is Casey Dellacqua being sponsored by Target. I know the big story last year was that she didn't have a sponsor and got her clothes off the rack from Target, but now I guess they are paying her to wear the bullseye!

Is JJ blaming her lose on her training like Beaker blaming his on his racquet? Sad for Kiefer, going out in a wheelchair is not good. Did everyone get a gander at the Safin siblings that Forty Deuce posted? It's like a lesson in symmetry.

Um, maybe she should have considered that before adding so many extra pounds of muscle? Please, please, please tell me that either you or she is joking. She's blaming her loss on too much preparation during the off-season? Wasn't she just a couple of weeks ago blaming her frailty and all her injuries on not preparing enough during the off-season? I saw that match, and exo or not, Venus blew her ass off the court. I haven't seen Venus serve so well so consistently in a long time, and the power and depth on her groundstrokes was very good. Frankly I was disappointed by Jelena. Given all that I've been hearing about her training regimen, I expected her to motoring all over the court and hitting and serving with more authority. While I have no doubt that she has built muscle over the off-season, I didn't notice a difference in her size or agility, it just looked like she was having trouble handling the power. I'm bummed that i missed the Momo/Ana match. In spite of the trouble she had closing things out against Coin, Momo looked very good physically. Also, I stuck with it to the end, and she never seemed to break emotionally. Coin, who was pretty impressive herself, showed much more nervousness toward the end when things got really tense.

Falafaclese, where are you watching the online streams? I'm particularly interested in Qatar. TIA.
Did anyone see Monfils beat Rafa today? I'm interested in any comments. Has anyone heard whether Rafa is still suffering with injuries?

harry24, check channelsurfing.net. With tennis going on in so many timezones, they've pretty much had one feed or another (but usually two) going on 24 hours a day. Doha has been starting at around 8:00am eastern time. Check both feeds of whatever tournament you want to watch, because one of them is usually much better quality than the other. The ones I've been watching have been damn near HD quality.
I only saw the 1st half of the 1st set, so I can't really give you any useful insights. I didn't get to see much of Monfils' play.

Thank you, falafaclese! That site looks wonderful. Do you find that when you go to full-screen mode the video quality deteriorates? Is that normal? Also, is there a way to save matches to watch at a later time?
Again, thanks so much for your help. I'm going to try to catch Roger-Murray, to see if Roger can make some inroads in Murray's recent domination.

I was watching Monfils-Nadal off and on and it was very entertaining and high-quality. Just another example of Rafa having a tough day at the office when he runs into a powerful flat ballstriker on hardcourts. La Monf was really something to see, mixing up shots, playing smart and then unloading groundstrokes to catch Rafa by surprise. I hope he has finally done some maturing because he is freaking talented and flashy, but I've never thought he had much going on upstairs. I'm watching Mauresmo/Bartoli now at Brisbane. Bartoli looks like she has dropped a few pounds. She is definitely a bit smaller around the middle. She also must have the weirdest, ugliest service motion in history I wish I could stay up late enough to watch Tsonga/Gasquet.

Thanks for the report on Monf/Rafa, curly. (I assume he's "Le Monf" and not "La Monf," since "La" is feminine.) Was there any discussion of Rafa's physical condition?
And Momo just defaulted unfortunately. I caught a little bit of her interview, and she said she didn't want to aggrevate it (I didn't hear what "it" was) before Melbourne, so hopefully it's nothing serious. I saw a few points, including one gorgeous serve and volley from Momo. It was a treat seeing S&V done so well. I hope she'll be able to play the whole season.

For some of them, and the Doha feed in particular, there's a lower quality feed and a high-quality feed. The high-quality feed does not seem to degrade at all when I go full-screen, so check them all out. I don't know of any way to save them, but if you find one, please let me know.

Yes. Here's an article with some quotes: I wish I could have seen Venus blow her off the court.

You know, I think I'm a little in love with Gavin Rossdale. Music, tennis, football. Of course my football is not his football but I'm still going with it. HA! The men's final match at Hopman has gone to a third set tiebreak. Everyone is all tense and fist pumping in the stands and there is Dinara, looking down and picking at something on her knee. I love that family.

It's nice to have tennis back. I see Gasquet beat Tsonga. I hate that I keep hoping Richard will finally get his act together and be consistent. It's probably a lost cause.
