Anyone watching Federer/Murray? I've only seen the third set, but Federer is playing terribly. Murray is playing the retriever and hitting everything to Fed's backhand, while Fed keeps making unforced errors. I'd like Murray to win, but this is not pretty to watch.

Sigh. Another bad Fed loss to Murray. It's hard for us Roger fans to take anything positive away from this one.

My memory may be faulty, but last year, I thought neither Nadal or Federer won a tournament until around April? Perhaps it'll be another year like that.

Well Rafa's won a title already. A doubles title. He and Marc Lopez (who is as cute as a button, I must say) just beat Nestor/Zimonjic, the best doubles team in the world, 10-8 in a Super TB. Rafa and Marc's reactions were adorable.
And poor Nestor and Zimonjic were visibly stunned and pissed off. Those two emotions combined to create the greatest "WTF?!?" faces I have ever seen. I seriously need a screen cap.

I have been out of the loop for family reasons for the past few days but have been catching up on scores via my phone. I was a little glum that Monfils beat Rafa. I like Gael- although he can sometimes stay wayyyy too far back and forget strategy. But I would like for Rafa to reach a hard court final- this part of the year always makes me nervous. But I have to say- yay for the doubles and this pictures of Rafa with Lopez (no lt- not that Lopez ) are freaking adorable. I think even Tiki may find them such. Love team Safain(a)- wish they could have won- boy you can tell they are brother and sister. Feds needs a win over Murray and fast for his confidence I think. In race of the sweethearts- Verdasco went further in Brisbane than Ana- and she jetted right out of there- which was wise for her cause girl needs to work on her game.

Dear Andy Murray,
When I said I liked you, I only meant that I like it when you beat anyone not named Roger Federer. Please keep this in mind in the future.
Thanks!

Wow . Does Murray officially own Fed? Of course Fed won their most important meeting (USO 2008). Still Fed has got to be frustrated. Their matches have followed a weird pattern lately: Fed wins a tight first set, then just loses his bearings and Murray wins the next two comfortably. Their rivalry is reminiscent of the early days of Fed-Nalby, when Nalby totally owned Fed before he started winning everything in sight (plus I think Murray and Nalby's playing styles are similar). Any predictions on who will be this year's surprise AO finalist? Recently we've had Tsonga, Gonzalez and Baggy. I'm predicting an AO final between Murray and a darkhorse, maybe Simon or Cilic. Of course I'm totally talking out of my ass, we haven't even had a draw yet.

Heh, that is a cute Lopez as well (but in a TOTALLY different way). Is Rafa just the sweetest man in all of Spain? He and his compatriots just seem to be so happy to be together.
Maybe Murray whispers strange things to Federer during changeovers? Things that throw him completely off of his game?

God, my imagination ran riot on that one, and not in a good way.
On the positive side, I'm happy to see so many people showing up here again.

After seeing some of how he played today- I would like to toss Verdasco onto the pile of potential AO darkhorses. Of course- now watch him lose the final of Brisbane badly.
Not good for JJ to be so rusty- I frankly have no idea of who is the best bet for the women at the AO. For the men- Murray.

Not good for JJ to be so rusty- I frankly have no idea of who is the best bet for the women at the AO. For the men- Murray. For the women, I think Venus is looking the best, followed by Serena, and I still think Jankovic, Safina and Dementieva are threats. Ana still has some work to do before she's back to where she was this time last year. As for the men, I think it's between Murray, Federer and Nadal in that order, with Tsonga, and Monfils looking like they'll do well too. Wozniacki and Cilic are my two youngster dark horses. I also agree that Verdasco is looking good.

Oh dear god. I go to the ATP site and the Worm is loose! He just won a title but that is a scarring sight first thing in the morning.

Even hearing about the Worm scares me. Happy birthday, Mpol. ETA Sharapova has dropped out of the Australian.

That's sad, I wonder if Sharapova will make it back. I disliked her for years but now I'm just sorry for her.
I don't know what to think of the AO upcoming. It seems like it's generally a pretty unpredictable slam in some ways. Maybe Roger will play better once he gets into the pacing of 5 set matches.
